Medicine Hat Blows Past Spokane, Take 2-1 Series Lead
Although it took significantly longer than the first two contests, Medicine Hat opened the scoring for the third time in the series. Cayden Lindstrom continues to stay hot, opening game four up as well as adding an assist on Hunter St. Martin's insurance marker with just under two minutes to go in the first frame.
In addition, the Tigers depth continues to shine through. Kadon McCann and Liam Ruck both added one in the second period while Veeti Vaisanen kept things quiet on the blue line. The Chiefs were unable to get many opportunities, recording just 13 shots through the first two periods.
For just the second time in the 2025 playoffs, Carter Esler made an appearance for Spokane as Medicine Hat chased starting goaltender Dawson Cowan after a fifth goal by Andrew Basha early in the third period.
Harrison Meneghin was solid when called upon for the Tigers, and looks to take the momentum into Wednesday's game four. Speaking of momentum, defenceman Bryce Pickford extended his goal streak to six games with a mid-third period marker and has at least one point in his last seven contests.
The Chiefs will look to tie the series once again on Wednesday night, as the puck drops in Spokane once again at 7:00pm PT.

What are LSU football's chances of going undefeated in 2025? See the odds here
LSU football has its sights set on a College Football Playoff appearance in 2025. The Tigers have yet to break through under head coach Brian Kelly, but LSU signed the top-ranked transfer portal class and returns star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. With the playoff expanded to 12 teams, 11-1 or 12-0 resumes are no longer needed. But a dream season would still be nice. What are LSU's chances of going unbeaten in 2025? According to FanDuel Sportsbook, LSU's odds of a 12-0 regular season are +1500. It's a long shot but never say never. At +1500, LSU is tied with Arizona State and just ahead of Utah at +1600. Fifteen teams have a better shot at 12-0 than LSU does. Much of that is due to LSU's tough schedule. The Tigers open on the road at Clemson, a game where LSU is the underdog. But if LSU can start 1-0, Kelly and company have a realistic path to entering conference title weekend unblemished. LSU football 2025 schedule

Why does LSU football keep hiring Ole Miss recruiting staffers?
LSU football filled a key recruiting role this week and the Tigers turned to a familiar place to do it. Kevin Bolden became yet another recruiting staffer to leave Ole Miss in favor of LSU. Under Brian Kelly, LSU has poached four key recruiters from Lane Kiffin's staff. Why has Ole Miss become a popular place for LSU to look for recruiting talent? The proximity helps. Ole Miss and LSU recruit from the same region. The recruiting department at Ole Miss builds relationships and scouts the same prospects as LSU. But for the most part, it comes back to Austin Thomas. Thomas's title at LSU is Senior Associate AD / Football Administration. In a way, he's the general manager for LSU football. Thomas worked alongside Les Miles and Ed Orgeron at LSU from 2012 to 2017. After LSU, Thomas worked at USC, Baylor, and Texas A&M before joining Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. Thomas completely turned the Rebels' roster around. With Thomas leading the personnel department, Ole Miss finished 2023 with its best AP Poll ranking since 1969. Shortly after the 2023 season, LSU made a move to bring Thomas back to Baton Rouge. And since Thomas returned to Baton Rouge, he hasn't been shy about hiring former Ole Miss connections. Thomas hired Preston Tiffany, Jai Chourdary, and Bolden to work key positions in LSU's recruiting department. Tiffany has since left for a job in the NFL, but Chourdary remains at LSU with Bolden on the way. LSU still has recruiting positions to fill after seeing plenty of faces come and go this offseason. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Kelly, Thomas, and LSU dip into Kiffin's staff again.

Tigers get updated top trade deadline need from MLB writer
There are three needs for the Detroit Tigers heading into the MLB trade deadline. Arguably, the biggest need is a new third baseman, and while it's still a need, writer Jason Beck identified a new top need for the team: A controllable starting pitcher. "Third base has stabilized with the shift of Colt Keith to the hot corner and the return of Matt Vierling from the injured list," Beck writes, "But the rotation is showing some cracks with Jackson Jobe's season-ending elbow injury, and Jack Flaherty's summer struggles and mixed results for the 'pitching chaos' strategy." Advertisement The Tigers have two strong starters in Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, but outside of them, the rest of the rotation has been suspect. Reese Olson is back off the injured list, but there is still some concern with the rotation. MORE: Tigers' Tarik Skubal reveals he wants to start for AL in All-Star Game Even though the Tigers could still pursue a third baseman and more bullpen help, the starting rotation, especially a controllable starter, is much more of a priority. While Detroit could look to add a rental, Beck believes a long-term option is more worthwhile to target. Pitchers like Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Seth Lugo, while solid, aren't the best choices for the Tigers. Advertisement Instead, Beck would prefer the Tigers to go after a pitcher like Mitch Keller or Sandy Alcantara, both pitchers with multiple years of control left who've been involved in trade rumors. Part of why the longer-term pitcher is of more importance is thanks to the unknown with Skubal. He's close to free agency, and in a worst-case scenario, if he walks, the Tigers need to have insurance on the roster. But, for the immediate returns, a starter who can help secure the rotation this season, and ideally the next couple, is the top trade deadline target for the Tigers. Detroit has what it takes to win it all, but another starter would go a long way towards making such a possibility significantly more likely. Advertisement MORE MLB NEWS:
