Two ducks killed and sheep injured in dog attack in Aberfoyle
An investigation is underway after two ducks were killed and a sheep suffered an injury in a dog attack at a popular tourist attraction in Aberfoyle.
The incident took place early on Sunday afternoon when a dog reportedly leapt into an animal pen at the Scottish Wool Centre in the village and went on to inflict fatal injuries on a pair of ducks.
A post released on various community Facebook pages by Lynne MacGregor-Dickson gave an account of the horrifying incident, confirming that 'display ducks' at the centre had been harmed in the attack while a sheep suffered a skin injury.
It led to a call from Ms MacGregor-Dickson to locals and those in the area at the time of incident to get in touch with police over any CCTV, videos or dashcam footage they may have to assist with an investigation.
But on Monday afternoon, Ms MacGregor-Dickson posted an update saying that police were 'preparing their case to move it forward'.
She added: 'Thank you each and everyone of you who has commented on this post, shared it, personally messaged me and those that have given me a wee hug when you've seen me, they have all meant the world to me.
'The other wonderful news I have to share is, one of the ducks that had been left badly injured is responding very well to her treatment and is back with some duckie friends as she continues with her recovery.
'Thank you all so much once again with your support in this matter and if nothing else I think it has reminded many a person to make sure their dogs are kept on leads at all times while near livestock (which includes ducks and hens).'
In a statement to the Observer, a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they were looking into the incident.
The spokesperson said: 'Around 12.55pm on Sunday, 25 May, 2025, we received a report of two ducks killed and a sheep worrying incident in the area of Main Street, Aberfoyle.
'Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information that may assist should contact 101 quoting incident number 1640 of 25 May.'

Cops and paramedics raced to the scene close to the Central Pier in Blackpool on Friday following reports of a member of the public having difficulty in the water. A helicopter was dispatched after a wave slammed a boat and threw one of the crew members backwards. One of the crew members then said they saw a member of the public "struggling with the waves" around 30 metres out at sea. "It was windy with significant and strong waves," a statement issued today by the coastguard said. "We'd had a report of a possible sighting just off Central Pier so the Blackpool ILB launched and we sent rescuers from our team and Lytham down to the surfline to support. "It was an extremely challenging launch for the boat crew and the boat got hit by several big waves, one of which swamped the boat throwing one of the crew members backwards the full length into the helmsman causing injury and requiring an immediate abort of the operation and a recovery of the ILB. "One team of Coastguards on the beach continued to search South and another searched North. Within a few minutes the North team issued an immediate call on the radio to state the casualty had been spotted struggling in the waves about 30m out. "Already equipped with water rescue personal protective equipment one of our coastguard rescue officers entered the water tethered to another to effect an immediate rescue. "It was an extremely challenging push to reach the casualty he had to push and swim through the same waves that had just hindered the inshore lifeboat and chase the casualty, who was at the mercy of the tidal currents." The statement continued: "The injured lifeboat crewmember was already receiving care in another ambulance. "The three Coastguards who had entered the water were suffering from water ingestion, mild hypothermia, exhaustion and one suspected sprained/broken ankle. "They were taken into the boathouse to recover and receive assessment from paramedics. "It was determined that two would need to go to hospital, as well as the lifeboat crewman, for further assessment." More to follow...
