Eight Upgraded Lifts At Five Monorail Stations Now Fully Operational
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail), in a statement today, said the stations involved were Imbi, Maharajalela and Medan Tuanku, each with two lifts, while Hang Tuah and Raja Chulan had one lift each.
It said that the upgrade was carried out to provide greater comfort and accessibility for all users, especially the elderly, persons with disabilities and families with young children or using baby strollers.
'The remaining eight lifts and one escalator at six other stations are currently undergoing final commissioning tests and the process of obtaining lifting machine permits, and are expected to be fully completed by the end of May 2025,' the statement said.
Rapid Rail said the upgrade was part of a RM12.6 million allocation covering various improvement initiatives at 11 monorail stations, including the installation of automatic platform door systems and platform lifts for wheelchairs, which have been in operation since December 2024, as well as repair works on lifts and escalators.
According to the statement, the monorail service saw an average of 57,000 passengers per day in 2024, marking an eight percent increase from 52,000 daily passengers the previous year.
'This increase marks a continued recovery and positive growth in the use of public transport in the capital.
'It also reflects growing user confidence, with the monorail once again becoming the preferred mode of transport for city residents' daily commute,' it said.
Therefore, Rapid Rail said user-friendly lift facilities were essential to ensure smooth passenger movement at the stations and to provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience for all.

The alliance aims to foster closer collaboration between media and cultural organisations in Malaysia and China, focusing on supporting content co-production, talent development and policy coordination. Additionally, the alliance places a strong emphasis on youth collaboration, with institutions such as MILA University in Malaysia and the Lingshui Haifeng International Film and Television Base in Hainan, which cooperate on exchange programmes, creative workshops, and training initiatives to nurture regional talent. 13MP roadmap to boost Malaysia tourism sector by 2030
KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has hailed the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as a strategic roadmap to elevate tourism into a high-income and sustainable sector. With Visit Malaysia 2026 on the horizon, Tiong emphasised that the plan reflects the government's dedication to industry growth and nationwide benefits. During Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's parliamentary presentation, the tourism sector's strong recovery was highlighted, with foreign visitors contributing RM102.2 billion in 2024. 'This achievement is promising, and under the 13MP, we aim to increase tourism's GDP contribution to 16 percent by 2030,' Tiong stated. A key initiative involves establishing Special Tourism Investment Zones (STIZ) in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Sarawak. 'Forty-three potential sites have been identified as of June 2025. Over 1.2 Million Arrive In Saudi Arabia For Umrah Since Start Of Season
JEDDAH, July 31 (Bernama-SPA) -- The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced more than 1.2 million pilgrims have entered the Kingdom to perform Umrah since the start of the season on Dhu Al-Hijjah 15 through the end of Muharram 30, arriving from 109 countries. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the ministry noted a 30 per cent increase in the number of Umrah performers entering the Kingdom on Umrah visas compared to the same period last year. Additionally, there was a 27 per cent rise in the number of Umrah visas issued, and more than 4,200 contracts were signed between Umrah companies and external agents, enhancing the operational readiness to welcome pilgrims.
