Hot and dry weather this weekend

Yahoo07-06-2025
Drier weather will continue to move into New Mexico into this weekend. Storm chances will still be possible Friday afternoon in far eastern New Mexico. That includes another threat of severe weather. Temperatures will continue a warming trend across the state Friday. On Saturday, only a spotty shower or two is likely in northeast New Mexico, but on Sunday, more isolated storms are possible in northern and eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will again continue to warm up through the weekend, with Sunday being the hottest day for most.
More moisture will move into eastern New Mexico Monday, bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms up to the northern mountains as well. Outflow from those storms will push moisture as far west as the Continental Divide Tuesday morning. This will bring a more widespread chance for storms Tuesday afternoon. Rain chances move back into eastern parts of the state Wednesday.

Neighbors are grateful no one is hurt after massive tree falls on of two homes in Trenton, New Jersey

Strong winds left behind quite a bit of damage as large trees came down on houses in Trenton, New Jersey. Neighbors noticed the winds picking up very quickly. A massive tree fell on two homes along Newell Avenue in Trenton Friday night. Troy Livingston, who lives across the street, said he was cooking on the grill when the dark clouds rolled in and the wind picked up. "It was just one gust of wind," Livingston said. The next second, he said the tree came down. "Before it started raining, we just heard a weird sound," he said. Firefighters and city crews were on scene assessing the damage. CBS News Philadelphia was told no one lives in the homes currently. Although Livingston said his sister used to live in one of them and she just moved out a week ago. Neighbors also said this wasn't the first time a tree fell on their street this summer. They said a tree fell on their cars in June. "They are hollow, so they just fall and it didn't even start raining. It was the wind," Livingston said. People who live and were visiting when the tree came down said they are just happy no one was hurt.

Another heat wave on the way, humid and thunderstorm chances in the Philadelphia region this Saturday

After a record-setting day of hot temps Friday (Philly hit 98°, breaking the record of 97), we'll get a bit of a break this weekend with temps back near normal Saturday and a bit below normal on Sunday. Although it may not be quite as hot, it will stay on the humid side. Saturday is likely the best day to get outdoors as temperatures will be in the upper 80s, but more cloud cover will limit direct sun and this means any t-storm activity will be minimal. Sunday, though, starts with showers and storms and then a second round is likely in the afternoon and evening. Another heat wave returns next week with temps back into the mid to upper 90s Monday through Wednesday. We have had 16 days in the 90s this July, and will likely add at least three more, which at 19 would tie for the 3rd most 90-degree days in July. The most we've ever racked up in July is 21, which has happened six times, most recently in 2020. There's also a good chance that next week's heat wave could catapult July 2025 into the top 10 hottest Julys on record. We'll keep you posted! Saturday: Scattered showers & storms. High 89, Low 77. Sunday: Scattered showers & storms. High 85, Low 73. Monday: Sunny, hot. High 94, Low 75. Tuesday: Very hot. High 97, Low 76. Wednesday: Still hot. High 94, Low 77. Thursday: Storms possible. High 85, Low 75. Friday: Clearing. High 82, Low 69. NEXT Weather Radars Hourly Forecast
