The LDA will now be responsible for the completion, operation and upkeep of the project." According to the decision, a total of Rs 821.74 crore disbursed so far by the state for the JPNIC project will be treated as loan to the LDA, which it will repay over a period of 30 years, Khanna added. Live Events The cabinet also authorised the LDA to formulate procedures and conditions for the completion of the project, and to manage its operations and maintenance through private players. The authority has also been empowered to carry out such actions as dissolution of the society and termination of its memberships. The JPNIC project includes the construction of a state-level auditorium, a convention centre, a modern sports complex , multipurpose sports courts, and a multi-level parking facility for around 750 four-wheelers. The dream project of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was stalled in 2017 after formation of Yogi Adityanath government in the state. A probe into alleged corruption in the project was also ordered and since then the project has been in a limbo. The Centre was envisioned as a world-class convention, culture, sports, and museum precinct dedicated to Congress leader and later rebel Jayaprakash Narayan. On October 11 last year, Jayaprakash Narayan's birth anniversary, Akhilesh's plan to pay tribute to the socialist leader was thwarted when the government had the centre's entry gates barricaded with tin shades. Akhilesh was forced to garland a photo of Narayan on the road outside and branded the government's action as a "dirty politics" tactic to discredit SP's legacy. In 2023, Akhilesh climbed the locked gates of the centre to garland the statue of Narayan, also known as Loknayak. PTI

UP Cabinet approves formation of Rozgar Mission
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to constitute the UP Rozgar Mission to help find employment for the state's youths in India or abroad. UP Cabinet approves formation of Rozgar Mission The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. State Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar told reporters after the meeting that the mission would enable the state to bypass third-party recruitment agencies. "With the formation of this mission, we have set a clear target. We aim to send 25,000 to 30,000 unemployed youth abroad and provide employment to nearly one lakh youth within India's private sector in a year," Rajbhar said. Earlier, Rajbhar said, the state government had to rely on external institutions with RA to send workers abroad. "Now, with the mission in place, the state will obtain its own RA, enabling us to directly arrange overseas placements, particularly in high-demand sectors such as nursing, paramedical, skilled labour, driving, domestic work, and other manpower-intensive roles," he said. Rajbhar said the demand for the mission was made imperative by a rising global demand for Indian manpower. The cabinet Thursday also approved amendments to labour regulations to increase women's participation in factory work. Until recently, women were barred from working in 29 categories of hazardous industries. The government lifted restrictions from four such industries in December last year. "At present, only 5 per cent of factories in the state employ women, and excluding Noida, the figure drops to about 1 per cent. With advancements in technology and our goal of women's empowerment, it was necessary to revise these outdated norms," Rajbhar said. The minister said the changes will support the state's broader target of becoming a 1 trillion dollar economy. He called the day's decisions a "big step" towards economic transformation and social empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. CM to launch integrated mfg, logistics cluster project to boost growth
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday will inaugurate 27 nodes under the Uttar Pradesh Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster– an initiative of the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to boost economic development along the highways. An official spokesperson said on Wednesday the integrated approach is expected to accelerate industrial growth, create large-scale employment opportunities and drive balanced regional development across UP. "It will ultimately propel Uttar Pradesh towards its one trillion economy target and achieving industrial self-reliance," the official said. "These nodes, strategically located along major expressways, are not only a dream project of CM Yogi but also hold immense strategic significance. While they will serve as dedicated corridors for manufacturing, they will also host logistics hubs to facilitate seamless movement of goods via road, rail, and air," said the official. They also said the efforts, implemented in collaboration with the central govt, align with Uttar Pradesh's strategy to develop each expressway-linked node into an economic growth engine. "By attracting investments, creating jobs, and promoting regional specialisation, the Yogi govt is setting the foundation for an industrially robust and economically empowered Uttar Pradesh," the official said.
