Police probe viral video allegedly defaming Raja Di-Hilir of Perak
Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the video was uploaded by the TikTok account holder 'The King Xtra The Star' and was found to have tarnished the good name of Raja Di-Hilir of Perak.
He said that following the circulation of the video, a police report was lodged by a 43-year-old local man on July 24.
'Initial investigations found that no coronation ceremony is scheduled to take place at any palace in Perak on Aug 7, as claimed in the video.
'Furthermore, the claim regarding the distribution of RM800 in incentives to the Perakians is also false,' he said in a statement today.
Abang Zainal Abidin said the case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.
'The public is also advised against making any speculations that could disrupt investigations or create public anxiety,' he added. - Bernama

A. Tishant's father faces murder charges following investigation, says Johor top cop
JOHOR BARU: Johor police have received instructions to charge the suspect in the death of A. Tishant, the boy who was reported missing and believed to have died of strangulation. State police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the suspect, who is the child's father, would only be charged once the Jempol district police headquarters in Negri Sembilan completes its investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. He noted that in Johor, the investigations against the suspect were carried out under Section 323 of the Penal Code, Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code, for allegedly assaulting his wife, as well as Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. 'Our investigation includes the suspect's police report, which states that his son had gone missing, as well as a report from his wife claiming he assaulted her,' Comm Kumar told a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here on Saturday (Aug 3). He said the first police report was lodged by the suspect's wife on July 22, in which she claimed she was physically abused by the suspect, who also took their only child away. Police subsequently opened an investigation paper under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, leading to the suspect's arrest. 'Upon completing investigations, the suspect was released on police bail. 'He then lodged a police report alleging that he had left the child inside a car before the child went missing, so we opened another investigation paper under Section 31(1) of the Child Act for child neglect, and also began a missing persons investigation,' he said. Comm Kumar added that during the suspect's statement recording, there were inconsistencies and suspicious elements. 'Due to the suspicious nature of his statement, we re-arrested the suspect and obtained a remand order in Johor. 'Further probe later revealed the truth, leading to the discovery of the boy's remains in Jempol, Negri Sembilan,' he added. The suspect was then handed over to the Negri Sembilan police for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Tishant was reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah here on July 24. Four days later, his body was discovered buried in Rompin, Jempol. On July 29, strangulation was identified as the cause of death of the child.

Johor police seize RM4.9m drugs in raid, arrest Vietnamese woman
JOHOR BAHRU: Johor police have dismantled a drug syndicate that concealed narcotics in beverage packets, including coffee and juice, following two raids in the city late last month. The operation led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Vietnamese woman and the seizure of drugs valued at over RM4.9 million. Johor police chief Datuk M Kumar stated that the raids, conducted between July 25 and July 26, uncovered 29,219 grammes of ecstasy powder, 131 ecstasy pills, and 20 grammes of ketamine. 'The seized drugs could have supplied an estimated 97,849 addicts if distributed,' he said during a press conference. The suspect tested positive for ketamine, and further investigations led to a second raid at another apartment used for drug repackaging. Police also confiscated drug processing tools, RM3,000 in cash, SGD193 (approximately RM617.60), and jewellery worth over RM34,000, bringing the total seizure value to RM4,939,778.60. Kumar explained that the syndicate mixed drugs with coffee powder and flavourings before sealing them in commercial-style drink sachets to evade detection. Each sachet was sold for around RM250, with distribution facilitated through online platforms and local networks. Authorities are searching for a 35-year-old Sarawakian man, Terrence Ki Kek Ding, to assist in investigations. The case is being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act. The Vietnamese suspect has been remanded until August 8. – Bernama

JPJ to audit bus operator involved in UPM crash
KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will carry out a Safety Inspection and Audit on the company whose bus was involved in an accident while transporting a kindergarten group along Jalan Persiaran Universiti 1, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Serdang recently. Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said JPJ received a report on the incident on Saturday (Aug 2) and has handed it over to the police for further investigation. "JPJ will conduct an audit and inspection of the bus operator and take further action once the audit report is completed,' he told Bernama on Sunday (Aug 3). On Saturday, Serdang district police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the incident occurred at around 12.18 pm and involved a bus carrying five teachers and 30 kindergarten children on an outing. Dashcam footage that went viral on social media showed the bus going out of control before veering off the road and crashing into a tree. Three children and one teacher sustained head injuries and were treated as outpatients at Serdang Hospital, while the bus driver was detained to assist in investigations under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987. In a statement issued on Sunday, Muhamad Farid said the accident is believed to have been caused by the bus driver falling into a microsleep due to insufficient rest. He said the 44-year-old male driver has been remanded for two days starting today to assist in the investigations. Preliminary investigations also found that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. "However, records show he has 13 traffic summonses registered under his name," he said. - Bernama
