BSF arrests 4 peddlers, seizes heroin, arms and ammunition
In Tarn Taran district, BSF troops recovered a plastic bottle near Dal village, apparently dropped by a drone drop, containing pistol parts and four live rounds of ammunition. The operation was launched after specific intelligence from BSF's internal wing.
On Saturday, BSF personnel observed drone activity and apprehended a smuggler hiding in a brick kiln near Bachiwind village in Amritsar. 'One pistol, two magazines and 10 live rounds of ammunition were seized. The smuggler, a resident of Gandhiwind village, was believed to be collecting a drone-dropped consignment,' a BSF spokesperson said.
In a separate operation in Ferozepur district, BSF troops, acting on reliable input, apprehended three drug peddlers from a field near Naubheram village. Their interrogation led to the recovery of a packet of heroin, weighing 500 grams.
A BSF spokesperson said these operations expose the nefarious activities of Pakistani terror syndicates.

The police identified the arrested couple, Shubhajit Ballav and Riya Haldar Ballav, who cheated over 900 people in several states, including West Bengal. The Cooch Behar police arrested the couple from a hotel in Darbhanga city of Bihar late Monday. They hailed from Ranaghat in Nadia district. Earlier, the couple was arrested once by the cops of the Jangipur Police Station in Murshidabad district. However, after getting bail, they resorted to cheating again. On Tuesday, Cooch Behar District Superintendent of Police, Duteeman Bhattacharya, told media persons about the couple's arrest. 'Two cases were filed in the Sahebganj and Tufanganj police stations of Cooch Behar. While investigating the case, the husband and wife were arrested from a hotel in the Darbhanga area of Bihar last night. We brought them to Cooch Behar on transit remand today,' Bhattacharya added. The police said they used to commit fraud by targeting customer service points in front of various Border Security Force (BSF) outposts near the border. The investigation revealed that the couple was committing money fraud by targeting people who came to the Customer Service Point (CSP) located near the BSF Border Outpost (BOP). The fraudsters used to call them from unknown mobile numbers pretending to be BSF officers, company commanders, or inspectors. "They used to say that if they sent some money, it would be returned in cash or on commission. The victims later went to the BSF camp and realised that such a person did not exist," Bhattacharya said. After entering Shubhajit's phone number on the National Crime Records Portal, it showed that 877 FIRs mentioned that mobile number in 2024. There were 68 cases in 2025. Out of these, 19 cases were filed in the Cooch Behar district. And in the 68 cases of 2025, the couple is accused of cheating the people of Rs. 48 lakh 15 thousand. According to police records, there are 183 cases registered against them in Uttar Pradesh, 107 in Rajasthan, 77 in Telangana, 60 in Maharashtra, 55 in Delhi, 54 in Bihar, 49 in Tamil Nadu, and 43 in West Bengal. Apart from this, 258 cases have been registered against the couple in the different Union Territories.

Three Pakistani militants killed in Dachigam encounter: Army
The Army on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) said that three Pakistani militants, allegedly involved in the Pahalgam attack, were killed in a joint, coordinated, and protracted operation carried out by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Monday (July 28, 2025). The militants have been identified as Suleman Shah alias Faisal Jaat, Hamza Afgani, and Jibran Bhai, the Army said. Two AK-series rifles, one M4 rifle, and a large quantity of ammunition and warlike stores were recovered from the encounter site, the Army spokesperson said. 'The mission marks a critical step in restoring security in Kashmir and commitment of Indian Army towards establishing peace and development. The operation continues,' the Army spokesperson said. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, said that search operations had been ongoing in south Kashmir's Dachigam forest areas for the past few months. On April 22, twenty-six civilians, mostly tourists, were killed by a group of militants at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, Anantnag district. The attack prompted extensive search operations in several mountainous terrains surrounding the region. The Lieutenant Governor was briefed about the operation by Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, who was accompanied by Lt. General Prashant Srivastava, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 15 Corps. 'A joint operation was then launched by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, with the significant assistance of intelligence agencies, leading to the elimination of Pakistani terrorists,' a Raj Bhawan spokesperson said. Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, 'I haven't seen them and cannot say who they were. Only eyewitnesses can make that identification. The message is clear, such actions of terrorists will never succeed. If they've been neutralised, they've got the lesson they deserved.'
