India's alleged offer to supply its Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LR-LACM) to Greece has triggered alarm in Turkish media, which has described the move as a security threat. The report, published by Turkish news outlet TRHaber, claims that India is "unofficially offering" the missile to Greece, linking the move to Turkey's support for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. However, there has been no official confirmation from New Delhi or Athens on this development.According to TRHaber, the LR-LACM presents operational challenges for Turkish defense systems due to its range, precision, and ability to fly at low altitudes. The missile, developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has a reported range between 1,000 and 1,500 kilometers and can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads. It uses a terrain-hugging flight path to reduce detectability, drawing comparisons to U.S. Tomahawk and Russian Kalibr cruise missiles. The missile can be launched from mobile articulated launchers and vertical launch systems fitted on over 30 Indian Navy ships. TRHaber also claimed that the missile's capability to evade air defense systems such as Turkey's S-400 has raised Ankara's concerns, especially if deployed by Greece. The missile offer claims have emerged amid signs of deepening defense cooperation between India and Greece. Last month, Indian Air Force Wing Commander A. P. Singh visited Athens and met with the Greek Chief of the Air Staff, Lieutenant General (P) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis. While no official statement confirmed any discussion on the LR-LACM, India did showcase the missile during the DEFEA-25 defense exhibition in Athens.TRHaber linked India's alleged outreach to Greece to Turkey's reported support for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. The report claimed that Turkey had provided Islamabad with drones, personnel, and a warship during the operation. The Turkish news outlet also alleged that the Greek Air Force is seeking intelligence on India's combat tactics from Operation Sindoor, particularly regarding the use of Rafale fighter jets. The report suggested that Greece may use the data to design realistic training scenarios in anticipation of future air engagements with Turkish forces.TRHaber tied the reported missile offer to India's wider regional engagement, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's visits to Greece in 2023 and Cyprus in 2025. The report interpreted these diplomatic efforts as signs of a trilateral cooperation involving India, Greece, and Cyprus to counter Turkish influence in the Eastern Mediterranean. It further claimed that such alignment could increase Indian naval activity near Cypriot ports. However, as of now, there is no official confirmation from Indian or Greek authorities regarding the alleged missile transfer or the strategic motives attributed by Turkish media. The claims remain speculative and are based entirely on TRHaber's reporting.

Politics is an ‘expensive hobby': Kangana Ranaut says MP salary is not enough, 'Can't have it as a profession'

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has called politics a 'very expensive hobby' rather than a profession, especially for honest leaders. According to her, while MPs do get a salary, once they pay for the basic staff, not much is left. 'If I have to go to my constituency with some representation, with some PAs, 3-4 cars, the expenses are in lakhs because one place from the other is 300-400 km minimum. So, it is a very expensive hobby. You need a job,' she said during an interview with Times Now. 'A lot of MPs have businesses, and they are working as lawyers. The people who have come before me, Javed Akhtar Ji. They kept doing their work. You have got to work,' the Bollywood actress said. 'If you are an MP you can't have it as a profession because you need a job. You need a job. If you are an honest person if you are not trying to do some…' she giggled while hinting at scams. She immediately got serious and said, 'I am not here to make a judgment on anybody.' In May 2025, the Mandi MP criticised US President Donald Trump's remarks about India. In a now-deleted post on X, she questioned if Trump was jealous of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's global popularity. She wondered if it was 'jealousy or diplomatic insecurity.' The tweet came after Trump said he had told Apple not to manufacture in India unless it served India's market. During the interview, Kangana Ranaut was asked to comment about those who question the effect of Operation Sindoor. They claim that US President Donald Trump 'did everything'. 'I have also been a big supporter of Trump earlier. But, the way he is going now, I personally feel that he has just messed up in so many places, even you know in his own country,' she said.

In spirit of brotherhood, a tribute to ‘Op Sindoor'

A symbol of interfaith harmony and national pride is taking shape in Meerut's Sadar Bazaar. A group of Hindu and Muslim youngsters have come together to build a grand 'kanwar' that has been named 'Operation Sindoor' to celebrate the country's military prowess and the spirit of communal unity. (HT) The initiative is being led by Gaurav, who, with 20 of his companions, is crafting the kanwar as an expression of both devotion and patriotism. It will be taken to Haridwar on July 15. The group will collect holy Ganga water on July 16 and return to Meerut. What makes this kanwar remarkable is not just its scale — 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide — but also its design, which features a statue of Bharat Mata (Mother India), a model of a Rafale fighter jet, an Army tank, and temples, showcasing India's military might and spiritual heritage. 'This is not just a kanwar, but also a glimpse of our nation's strength,' said Neeraj Dhameja, an artisan working on the project. The sentiment was echoed by Imam Shahnawaz Jamali of the local mosque, who has been actively supporting the initiative. 'We stand with our nation. The path of religion passes through humanity. Our unity against terrorism is the real strength of this country,' he said. Gaurav said the kanwar was also dedicated to the 26 innocent people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, as well as to India's armed forces and martyrs. The brutal attack had sparked nationwide anger, and the Indian Army responded decisively, delivering a strong blow to terrorists and those supporting them across the border. 'Operation Sindoor is a symbolic tribute to those who lost their lives and to the bravery of our armed forces who defended the nation with unmatched courage,' Gaurav said. This special kanwar will be brought from Haridwar, and the Jalabhishek (ritual water offering) will be performed at the famous Augharnath Temple in Meerut.
