WATCH: Christy Moore releases video tribute to President Michael D. Higgins

Christy Moore has released the official music video for 'Music to our Ears', his spoken word tribute to President Michael D. Higgins, featuring the start-to-finish painting of a 10-foot-tall portrait of Higgins by Dublin street artist ACHES.
'Music to our Ears' is a poem to celebrate Higgins' life and legacy in the last year of his presidency. It was written by poet Johnny Broderick and performed by Moore in a track produced by Gavin Murphy.
The track will feature on the extended edition of Moore's record A Terrible Beauty, set to be released later this year under Claddagh Records.
Along with producing the track, Murphy scripted the video. Moore said he got involved whilst working in Murphy's studio.
'Gavin shared music he was composing for a poem John Broderick had written in advance of President Michael D's departure from Áras and Úachtaráin,' Moore said.
'I read the poem and listened to the music. I offered to recite the words. Claddagh heard it and suggested we make it available to the public. I think it is a beautiful tribute to our esteemed President and His Family. I think Johnny B's words express what many of us feel about Michael D. and our First Lady, Sabina.'
ACHES is a Dublin-based street artist and National College of Art and Design graduate. He has been invited to design original art for projects around the world. The 'Music to our Ears' video is his latest work.

A large work depicting Tom Clarke blindfolded before a stone wall, awaiting execution, May 1916 was Richard O'Neill's contribution to a 1966 exhibition at Dublin's Municipal Gallery. The focus of the show with invited artists was to commemorate the Easter Rising through contemporary art. The artwork is estimated at €3,000-€5,000, the most expensively estimated lot at a timed online art auction at James Adam in Dublin until August 14. Richard O'Neill's painting 'May 1916' depicts Tom Clarke before his execution. Richard O'Neill: A Painter Rediscovered offers 62 works by the artist along with art by his friends and mentors Patrick Pye, Anne Yeats, Ruth Brandt, Harry Kernoff, Sean Keating, John Kelly and Patrick Hickey. 'Hot Summer' by Richard O'Neill. The Waterford-born Dublin-based artist, who died in 2009, received a scholarship to the National College of Art and graduated in 1941. He first exhibited at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art in 1952 and is somewhat overlooked today. James Adam believes he deserves to be reassessed.

Fontaines DC at All Together Now 2025: Biggest Irish group since U2 hit ferocious highs at all-conquering homecoming gig

Fontaines DC Main stage, Friday ★★★★★ Grian Chatten , the Fontaines DC frontman, must feel he's come to All Together Now underdressed, as he seems to be the only person on Curraghmore Estate on Friday night not wearing a Bohemian FC jersey bearing his band's name. He makes up for the fashion lapse by leading the band through an all-conquering homecoming gig at which the biggest Irish group since U2 hit ferocious new highs. They open with the title track from Romance , their fourth album, a psychedelic onslaught that showcases the quintet's talent for guitar pop that is both feather-light and hard-hitting. Fontaines have defied the convention of flogging one or two ideas to death. The album which they released 18 months ago, is a leap forward full of piercing pop moments that would have stunned anyone who caught the band sharing a bill with Shame and The Murder Capital in 2018. READ MORE They proceed with stately briskness through their hit parade. Beginning with an onslaught of guitar, Boys in the Better Land is The Dubliners if they'd got really into punk in 1977. Nabokov is Yeatsian art-rock with a hint of the surreal in its lyrics ('He's selling insurance, selling clouds in the sky) – Lou Reed's Velvet Underground meets David Lynch's Blue Velvet. Banter isn't their thing. Chatten introduces I Love You by proclaiming 'F*** the far right,' as the video screens proclaim 'Free Palestine'. The singer elsewhere compensates for his lack of loquaciousness by wearing a sort of cyberpunk sarong with shades of Shane MacGowan replacing Keanu Reeves in The Matrix. He is accompanied by a light show of intense pink and green that suggests a trip to a psychedelic sweetshop. [ Fontaines DC's Grian Chatten: 'Romance took a lot out of us. It was like a bomb went off, and then that silence' Opens in new window ] Fontaines DC have been playing festivals through the summer. This show could easily have been just another ticket punched at the end of a busy year of touring. But as they finish with Starburster, a mash-up of trip-hop and nu-metal, they make it clear that they want to leave an impression. At the end of day one of the biggest All Together Now to date, this is the supersized gig with pep in its step.
