If you have to watch underrated Hulu movies July 2025, stream these ones

Digital Trends8 hours ago
An eclectic group of movies makes up Hulu's top 15. Paul W. S. Anderson's In the Lost Lands is toward the top. The fantasy movie based on stories by George R.R. Martin flopped at the box office, but it's found a new audience on streaming. The same can be said for Riff Raff, the little-seen crime comedy starring Bill Murray and Pete Davidson.
Outside of the top 15, there is a bevy of underrated movies to watch in July. One of our picks is Sunshine, a sci-fi thriller from the duo that brought you 28 Years Later. Keep reading to see all three of our recommendations.

Sunshine (2007)
Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are best known for their collaborations in the 28 Days Later franchise. Yet the duo worked together on 2007's Sunshine, a sci-fi thriller that deserves as much attention, if not more, than their zombie movies. In the year 2057, humanity is facing extinction due to the death of the sun. With Earth freezing, mankind's last hope lies with eight astronauts — including Robert Capa (Cillian Murphy), James Mace (Chris Evans), and Cassie (Rose Byrne) — on board the Icarus II.
The group plans to use a stellar-bomb device that could reignite the sun. Sunshine's visuals and score are spellbinding, which pave the way for future space exploration movies like Interstellar. Misunderstood at the time, Sunshine is now regarded as somewhat of a masterpiece.
Stream Sunshine on Hulu.
The Way Way Back (2013)
Fresh off winning an Oscar for their screenplay on The Descendants, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash teamed up for The Way Way Back, a delightful coming-of-age story set in a Massachusetts beach town during the summer. Duncan (Liam James), a timid teenager, is forced to spend the summer with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her rich boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and Trent's conceited daughter (Steph).
Neglected by his mother and insulted by Trent, Duncan finds solace at a local water park and its kind manager, Owen (Sam Rockwell). The water park becomes Duncan's oasis as he works through his problems with Owen, who takes the young teen under his wing. For those who have felt left out and unseen, The Way Way Back is a heartwarming reminder to be yourself.
Stream The Way Way Back on Hulu.
Flight of the Phoenix (2004)
Flight of the Phoenix was made to be watched on a Sunday afternoon after a long weekend. It has enough action to keep you entertained, but if you happen to doze off for a few minutes, there's no need to rewind because the plot points aren't that major. I mean this as a compliment, by the way. Turn your brain off and enjoy an easy-to-digest survival drama.
Based on the novel and the 1965 movie, Flight of the Phoenix follows two pilots — Capt. Frank Towns (Dennis Quaid) and co-pilot A.J. (Tyrese Gibson) — and their attempts to transport the crew of an oil rig out of the desert. A destructive sandstorm causes the plane to crash-land in the abandoned desert. With dwindling supplies and the threat of smugglers, the only way out is to construct a plane from scratch and fly themselves to safety.

Seth Rollins injury update: Paul 'Triple H' Levesque says WWE star 'doesn't look good'

The early prognosis for Seth Rollins' injury: "Doesn't look good." WWE chief content officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque addressed Rollins' injury during his press conference following Evolution. He said it's "a little bit inconclusive" of what injury Rollins suffered on Saturday, July 13, but the outlook is not good. Levesque expects to get an answer on Monday, July 14 when Rollins sees a doctor. Advertisement "Will get an MRI and hope for the best," Levesque said. "See where we can go with that." What happened to Seth Rollins? It's a gloomy update one day after Rollins appeared to suffer a devastating injury during a televised match. Rollins faced LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event, and during the match he attempted a moonsault in the ring and his knee buckled. He immediately went down and grabbed his knee as he backed into the corner of the ring, with the referee and Paul Heyman checking in on him. A ringside doctor eventually came and talked with Rollins. After the brief discussion, Rollins got back to his feet and LA Knight hit the BFT to set up the pin for the win. It came off as a quick adjustment to the ending. After the match, people inside the arena took video of Rollins getting help leaving the ring, and one video on social media showed Rollins' clearly frustrated, with the wrestler barking expletives as he was assisted. Advertisement reported the finish to Rollins and LA Knight was changed when Rollins was hurt, as he was set to win the match. The severity is unknown, but Rollins' injury is real and not part of a story. While the extent of Rollins' injury is still unavailable, it likely is a major injury for "The Visionary" and could potentially mean some big changes to storylines. Rollins is Mr. Money in the Bank, able to cash it in for a championship opportunity at any time, and there was speculation he would do it at Saturday Night's Main Event. Plus, he is still riding the momentum of his WrestleMania 41 victory, and was leading a stable with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Heyman. The menacing group was also involved in storylines with Jey Uso, Sami Zayn and Penta. Seth Rollins injury history: Constant knee injuries The injury is just the latest one to affect Rollins' knee, as its something that's plagued his WWE career. Advertisement In November 2015, Rollins tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and meniscus in his right knee during a live event in Ireland. He required surgery, and was forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as he missed seven months. Rollins then re-tore the MCL in the same knee in January 2017, but didn't miss much time. He tore the meniscus in his left knee in January 2024. Even though he was injured, Rollins still appeared in WWE as World Heavyweight Champion while taking part in the build-up to WrestleMania 40. He wrestled both nights of the event despite the injury, and was instrumental in the Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock and Roman Reigns storyline. He missed two months of action following the event. Ellen DeGeneres supports Rosie O'Donnell after Donald Trump threatens to revoke her U.S. citizenship

Ellen DeGeneres is standing by her old pal Rosie O'Donnell amid her escalating feud with President Donald Trump. The conflict between Trump and O'Donnell — which dates back to her tenure on The View — reached new heights over the weekend, with the president calling her a "threat to humanity" on Truth Social, adding that he has been "giving serious consideration to taking away" her American citizenship. (According to a Harvard analysis, Trump has no constitutional authority to do so.) DeGeneres is one of many who have rallied to O'Donnell's side and voiced support. The former talk show host took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing a screenshot of Trump's post alongside a fiery poem that O'Donnell's penned in response. "Good for you @Rosie," DeGeneres wrote. O'Donnell, a New York-born comedian, previously announced that she and her 12-year-old son, Clay, left the United States for Ireland ahead of Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration. In the poem shared by DeGeneres, O'Donnell doubles down on this decision while slamming Trump for threatening her citizenship. "Hey Donald — you're rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours. You call me a threat to humanity – but I'm everything you fear: a loud woman, a queer woman, a mother who tells the truth, an American who got out of the country b4 u set it ablaze. You build walls," she wrote. "I build a life for my autistic kid in a country where decency still exists. You crave loyalty – I teach my children to question power. You sell fear on golf courses – I make art about surviving trauma. You lie, you steal, you degrade – I nurture, I create, I persist." She continued, "You are everything that is wrong with America – and I'm everything you hate about what's still right with it. You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I'm not yours to silence, I never was." The poem was accompanied by a photo of Trump standing side by side with Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender whose 2019 death in jail was ruled a suicide. O'Donnell and Trump have feuded publicly for nearly two decades, beginning when the former View cohost criticized him during her brief stint on the ABC talk show in 2007. He has slammed her in turn over the years, with the pair routinely firing vicious posts back and forth on social media, but the acrimony leveled up as Trump rose in the political sphere. In 2015, he made a highly publicized jab during an Republican primary debate in which he compared her to an animal. As for O'Donnell's relationship with DeGeneres, the comedian has previously described the friendship as strained, but made it clear that there is no "malice" between the news that DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, also departed the U.S. on the heels of Trump's reelection, O'Donnell told Us Weekly in November she was surprised over their motivation. "I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump," O'Donnell said. "Like, that shocked me, actually. I've been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it's just a different way to be in the world. I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving, and I don't think it came as a surprise to anyone." O'Donnell shared that the duo had yet to reconnect at the time, adding, "We're not really in each other's worlds, and it's been kind of awkward but you know what? I wish her the best. I wish that she has peace and love in her life and that she is OK." Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
