Azizulhasni Continues World Championship Bid With Custom-built Bike
The Pocket Rocketman said the National Sports Council (MSN) has given full approval for him to keep using the bike, as it fits his body and supports his KPI goals for the 2026 Asian and Commonwealth Games.
'So far, I've been given permission by MSN to use it, so there's no issue. The bike was designed to fit my body, so I don't think anyone else could use it,' he told Bernama after being named Volkswagen Malaysia's first brand ambassador.

He said the only other rider who might be able to use the same design is Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri, who already rides a Vorteq model. 'The other riders are taller and bigger, like Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom,' he added.
Azizulhasni said his return to Malaysia was to undergo training with the national squad in hopes of impressing technical director John Beasley and earning a spot for the world meet.
'Beasley is evaluating my performance to see which tournaments I'll go to. Hopefully, I can take part in one or two competitions before the World Championships,' he said.
While leaving individual event decisions to the coaches, Azizulhasni said his main focus remains the team sprint, part of his original comeback plan.
'But we have to see if it's still relevant. If I can go for the team event, great. If not, and I get a slot in the individual event, why not? It still depends on the coaches' plan,' he added.
Beasley earlier confirmed that Azizulhasni is not currently listed for individual events in the World Championships in Santiago, Chile from Oct 15–19, but could be in the team sprint if he qualifies on merit.

Zii Jia's comeback on the cards – but will he go through with it?

PETALING JAYA: Professional men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia is set to make an appearance at the World Championships in Paris from Aug 25-31 after a four-month absence. Based on an update from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on July 29, Zii Jia has confirmed his participation in the tournament after receiving an invitation from the world body. However, should the former world No. 2 change his mind, he still has time until Aug 12 to do so. Zii Jia had been struggling with a left ankle ligament injury since December last year, and has only competed in two tournaments this year, the Orleans Masters and All-England in March before the injury flared up again. Plans To Retrieve Dahlmeier's Body From Pakistan Peak Abandoned
ISLAMABAD, July 31 (Bernama-dpa) -- Rescuers in Pakistan abandoned plans to retrieve the body of twice Olympic biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier of Germany to respect her last wish and avoid risking more lives, fellow climber Thomas Huber told dpa on Thursday. Dahlmeier, 31, was swept away in a rockfall close to the summit of the 6,069 metres Laila Peak in the Karakoram mountain range on Monday, her management and local officials said. She was declared dead on Wednesday evening after air and ground operations to rescue her from the Laila Peak in the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region was not successful. bootstrap slideshow Pakistani officials said on Wednesday that rescue teams led by international climbers and local high-altitude porters would launch a new operation to retrieve her body. "When we saw Laura's body it was clear that she (had) left us. As experienced mountain climbers we decided to not go and retrieve her body,' Huber, who's in the GB region, told dpa over the phone. 'They body was in a very difficult terrain which would have meant a great risk for the rescue team,' said Huber, also a German who was part of the team that went up to rescue Dahlmeier. 'We decided to respect Laura's last wish. She didn't want anyone to risk his or her life to retrieve her.' Pakistan's northern region is home to several stunning peaks including some towering more than 8,000 metres high. The region attracts hundreds of mountaineers from all over the world including from Europe every year. Accidents, sometimes deadly, are common during these expeditions especially on K2 and Nanga Parbat, both 8,000 meters peaks.
