Rakul Preet Singh shares a fun story of her first meeting with Jackky Bhagnani: 'Met in PPE kits to borrow vodka'
Rakul Preet Singh
recently revealed a fun and surprising story about how she met her husband, actor-producer
Jackky Bhagnani
. Their first encounter was anything but ordinary, involving an unexpected combination of a bottle of vodka and PPE kits, which set the stage for their relationship.
Meeting During the Lockdown
In a recent cooking vlog with
Farah Khan
, Rakul shared the unusual story of how she first crossed paths with Jackky during the COVID-19 lockdown. On her brother's birthday, while searching for a bottle of vodka, Rakul and her siblings ended up at Jackky's place, where everyone was clad in full PPE gear, making the encounter all the more memorable.
Cautious First Visit
The actress recalled with a laugh how cautious they were during their first visit to Jackky's home: 'We came to his house wearing PPE kits, sanitised each other's hands just to say hello, and even sanitised the bottle.' Playfully responding, Jackky added with fake offense, 'They came, took the bottle, and didn't even invite me!'
Building Friendship Over Food
About two weeks later, Rakul and her brother made another trip to Jackky's place, still on the lookout for a bottle.
This time, they came bearing homemade food, a kind gesture that helped lay the foundation for their friendship. Their bond grew stronger through frequent conversations, eventually deepening into something more meaningful.
Shared Passion for Fitness
Rakul shared that their bond grew stronger because of their mutual dedication to health, fitness, and lifestyle choices. She explained, 'We connected because we work out. When you're single, you tend to be very focused and alpha — you want someone like-minded. I thought, 'Arey waah, he works out too, his lifestyle and values are similar.' Most importantly, we connected over our workout routines. People usually want to go out and party, but don't want to eat pizza and I found someone just as psycho about fitness as me!'
A Beautiful Destination Wedding
After three years of dating, Rakul and Jackky exchanged vows on 21 February 2024 in a stunning destination wedding in Goa. Their special day featured two meaningful ceremonies: a traditional Anand Karaj Sikh ritual in the afternoon, followed by a vibrant Sindhi wedding celebration in the evening.

This Durga Puja season in Kolkata, American diamonds to add sparkle to goddess' eyes
Written by Anisha Ghosh This year's Durga Puja will have a sparkle of innovation from Indrajit Paul, an artisan from Kumortuli, North Kolkata. He has adorned Maa Durga's idol's eyes with special American diamonds. 'When the lights hit the goddess's eyes, the diamonds will reflect the rays, making it look illuminated as if it has come to life. It will give a 3-D effect, leaving the audience spellbound. No other stone can create the same effect,' Paul says. The idol stands tall at 11 feet and is priced between Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh. Out of all the idols the artist has made for this year, only one is left to be booked. Paul expects that the idol will be booked by Sunday. Many customers have already shown great interest in the idol with diamond-studded eyes after seeing the pictures. This is not the first time the artist has created something unique. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he came up with the idea of a 'Coronasur' a demon symbolising the coronavirus. He received wide media coverage, and even the Kolkata Knight Riders sent a team to shoot a documentary on it. 'This year, idol-making has been a bit difficult as the continuous rain has been making it hard, stretching the drying time of the idols. We are using the help of ceiling fans to dry it,' says Paul, who is also into short films. Paul also has a knack for writing scripts and directing films. During my free time, I write scripts and direct short films. As West Bengal is set to celebrate Durga Puja by the end of September, the diamond-eyed idol is expected to become a major attraction.
