Maddy Siegrist's return to Wings from knee injury delayed at least 1 more game
The Wings ruled Siegrist out of a game Friday night against the Indiana Fever a day after saying her 17-game absence because of a right knee fracture was set to end.
The Wings are playing the Fever at the home of the Dallas Mavericks. It's the second time the Wings will play at American Airlines Center.
Dallas faced the Fever at the AAC in late June, losing 94-86 when Caitlin Clark was sidelined by a groin injury. Clark returned after that, but this meeting with the Wings will be Clark's sixth consecutive game missed after the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year aggravated a groin injury.
Siegrist, the NCAA Division I scoring leader ahead of Clark when she played for Villanova in 2022-23, was limited to 11 games in an injury-plagued rookie season two years ago.
Siegrist has averaged 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games and had her only double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 boards the game before she was injured, an 81-65 loss to Minnesota on June 8.

Sunday's absence makes it seven straight games missed for Clark, dating back to the final game before the WNBA's All-Star break. The 6-foot guard has now missed 16 regular season games and 17 games overall, including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final. Clark has been dealing with injury woes dating back to the preseason. The Iowa alum missed the Fever's first preseason game with a left leg injury. Then, a left quadriceps strain cost Clark five games from May 28-June 10. That was followed by a left groin injury that sidelined Clark for four regular season games and the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final from June 26-July 5. In the first episode of her new "Show Me Something" podcast, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham commented on her teammate's injury struggles. "It is her groin, but it's such like a weird injury,' Cunningham said on her podcast when asked about Clark's return. 'She's not in pain all the time. But when you do hurt it you're out for I think they're trying to be like extra cautious so she doesn't kind of have those little setbacks." In 13 games played, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on 36.7% field goal shooting and 27.9% 3-point accuracy. SINGAPORE (AP) — French star Léon Marchand has broken one world record already in the 200-meter individual medley. He'll try for a second on Sunday in the 400 IM on the closing day of the swimming world championships in Singapore, a record he set two years ago in the worlds in Fukuoka, Japan. That mark is 4 minutes, 02.50 seconds. It would be Marchand's second gold in Singapore, where he's swimming a reduced schedule after winning four individual golds a year ago at the Paris Olympics. He will swim from Lane 1, entering with a relatively slow qualifying time. Summer McIntosh of Canada will be in the women's 400 IM, trying for her fourth gold. Her hope of winning five individual golds in the worlds — only Michael Phelps has done that — was crushed Saturday night when she was beaten by American Katie Ledecky in the 800 free. McIntosh finished third. Chinese 12-year-old Yu Zidi has the No. 3 qualifying time as she shoots for a medal. She picked up a bronze medal in a relay — she swam in a prelim but not the final — but an individual medal would be astounding. As a reminder, she is the same age as most sixth- or seventh-grade students, depending on the school system. The Americans, frustrated throughout the meet with a case of 'acute gastroenteritis' picked up in a training camp in Thailand, surged on Saturday with three golds to bring their gold-medal leading total to eight. Australia has seven. The Americans have several gold-medal chances in Sunday's eight finals.
