Uttarakhand: Operation Prahar becomes a nightmare for cyber criminals
Operation Prahar dealt a heavy blow to cyber criminals and has become an example in itself. For the first time in the country's history, under the direction of Uttarakhand Police, major raids were conducted simultaneously in 17 states: Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Kerala, Goa, etc.
According to the release, strict action was taken against more than 290 cyber criminals in this intensive and strategic action.
This was no ordinary police action. It is the outcome of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's foresight and bold decision-making, set in motion after a major cyberattack incident. When the state fell victim to cyber attacks a few months ago, CM Dhami declared that cybercriminals would no longer be safe. He strengthened the police department, restructuring cyber police stations and expanding intelligence networks.
The direct result of this came in the form of Operation Prahar, in which, with the cooperation of not only Uttarakhand but also other state police and central agencies, it was shown that Uttarakhand is now not only a centre of tourism and pilgrimage but has also become a model state in fighting cybercrime.
Chief Minister Dhami's good governance model is not limited to just schemes or announcements; it is also clearly visible in his actions. Under his leadership, activism, transparency, and responsibility for governance are reflected at all three levels. While this successful action has established the efficiency of Uttarakhand Police at the national level, it has also once again proved the strong leadership and quick decision-making ability of Chief Minister Dhami. Ahmedabad minor girl jumps from fourth floor of school building, dies during treatment
A 15-year-old girl died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of her school building in Ahmedabad on Thursday. During the initial investigations, police found that the girl was irregular in attending her classes and had been absent recently.(Pixaby/Representational Image) The Class 10 student was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital and died while undergoing treatment, police said. The incident occurred during the school's recess when the girl climbed the railing in the school lobby and jumped before anyone could intervene. Police are yet to investigate the reason behind the suicide. HM Kansagra, ACP B Division of the Ahmedabad Police, said a case of an accidental death has been registered under section 194 and an investigation is underway. He said that the police is examining the CCTV footage and also talking to the victim's friends and class teacher to acertain the cause behind suicide. 'During the break, she was walking in the lobby of the fourth floor, where her class was, and suddenly jumped from there. Due to this, she was admitted to a private hospital in a critical state... She was declared dead during treatment. Accidental death has been registered under section 194,' HM Kansagra told news agency ANI. 'An investigation is underway to find out who her friends are, and her class teacher, CCTV footage is being examined... The statement of the deceased's father has been taken, on which an accidental death case has been registered,' he added. Meanwhile, family members of the girl are still in shock after her sudden death, and the statement of her father has been recorded, and questioning of friends and teachers is ongoing. The students who witnessed the incident are also being questioned. During the initial investigations, police found that the girl was irregular in attending her classes and had been absent recently. However, the police are yet to ascertain the cause of the incident. According to a report by The Times of India, citing the managing trustee of the school, the girl had been a student at the school for the past five years. After the incident, she suffered head injuries and had a severe concussion due to the fall, the report stated. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced online, showing the girl walking alone in the lobby with other students walking past her. She can then be seen climbing the railing before jumping from the fourth floor. Chaos engulfs the hallway as students and teachers are seen visibly shocked. FTA momentum: Piyush Goyal confirms Oman deal ‘almost finalised'; talks with EU, US & others also moving fast
India's Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Oman is at an advanced stage and nearly finalised, Union Commerce and Industry Minister confirmed on Saturday. He also noted that negotiations with the European Union, United States, Peru, and Chile are progressing rapidly and making 'fast progress'. A t a press conference, Goyal highlighted India's recent track record in concluding major trade agreements with developed economies. These include FTAs with Mauritius, Australia, and the four-nation European Free Trade Association (EFTA) bloc — Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland. He also spoke about the recently signed India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), calling it 'very comprehensive,' with 30 chapters. The agreement, signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to the UK, is aimed at enhancing trade flows and deepening economic cooperation. According to the UK government, India's average tariffs on UK goods will drop from 15% to 3% under the new FTA, potentially boosting bilateral trade to $120 billion by 2030. "The goods and services that India provides to the world have high quality and cost competitiveness," Goyal said. He added that these FTAs underscore India's rising importance on the global economic stage. Regarding the proposed trade pact with the US, Goyal said discussions are progressing fast, with the next round of talks expected in August. As per news agency PTI, the two countries aim to finalise the first tranche of their bilateral trade agreement by fall, targeting a trade volume of $500 billion — more than double the current figure of $191 billion. India is also pressing for reduced tariffs on steel, aluminium, automobiles, and a range of labour-intensive sectors like textiles, gems and jewellery, and chemicals. Goyal emphasised that the government's goal is to 'expand frontiers of India's international trade' and strengthen investor confidence. 'Each [FTA] is getting its requisite attention,' he added, pointing to parallel talks with countries like New Zealand and Chile.

Thailand's Royal Army has denied reports from Cambodia that it targeted an ancient Hindu Temple in the Cambodian province of Preah Vihear, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thailand and Cambodia have frequently clashed over their shared land border, a dispute that reportedly remains unresolved due to competing territorial claims dating back to the French colonial era.
