Hear Muse Blend EDM and Metal on Melodramatic ‘Unravelling'
The most transcendent moment comes near the end when frontman Matt Bellamy sings, 'Feeling the glow die inside of our bones/This is a hymn for our love with no God and no throne,' in an exultant way right before his guitar digs into a nasty metal breakdown that sounds more like Slipknot than Muse. The group has not yet revealed if the song, produced by Dan Lancaster (Bring Me the Horizon, Blink-182), is foreshadowing a larger project.

Muse, which have dates in Europe through July, test-drove the song live at a tour warmup gig at Helsinki's House of Culture last week. They gave it a bigger premiere on June 14, though, when they performed it at Finland's Rockfest for an audience of more than 50,000 people. The song's producer, Lancaster, plays keys and additional live guitar at Muse's live performances.
A few years ago, when they were still promoting Will of the People, Muse showed fans just how deeply they could blend genres when they flipped Paul McCartney's 'Live and Let Die' into the ultra-metallic original song, 'Kill or Be Killed.' ''Kill or Be Killed' is Muse at their heaviest,' Bellamy said then. 'We wanted to update our hard rock sound on this album, and with 'Kill or Be Killed' we found a modern metal sound featuring double-bass drum action and even a death growl. Lyrically the song takes influence from my favorite Paul McCartney song 'Live and Let Die,' a dark take on how life's adversity can sometimes bring out the worst human instincts to survival at any costs.'

Ringo Starr wishes Sam Mendes "peace and love" while shooting 4 movies simultaneously
Back in November 2024, Ringo Starr leaked that Barry Keoghan would be playing him in Sam Mendes' ambitious four-movie Beatles biopic project. Sony Pictures definitely didn't want that information out there yet, but what are you going to do—this is Ringo himself we're talking about! It's the first project for which he, Paul McCartney, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison have granted their life rights, so he has some stake in the thing, even if he doesn't quite get how Mendes is going to film four movies simultaneously, as the rocker told The New York Times. 'But he'll do what he's doing, and I'll send him peace and love,' Starr said. Nobody could argue that sentiment. Starr did, however, push back a bit on Mendes when they met in London this past April and went over the script for the Ringo film, the NYT reports. Starr revealed he gave notes on the depiction of his relationship with his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett. Mendes 'had a writer—very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,' Starr shared. 'That's not how we were. I'd say, 'We would never do that.'' We know the writers on board for this ambitious project: Jack Throne (Enola Holmes, Adolescence), Jez Butterworth (Ford V Ferrari, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny), and Peter Straughan (Conclave, Wolf Hall). We don't, however, know which writer is working on which movie. Straughan once let slip that he was writing the George Harrison script and was 'firewalled' from the other writers. Given that only three writers were announced, we've previously speculated that maybe Mendes himself is tackling one of the scripts. Based on Starr's comment and by process of elimination, we can guess that Thorne or Butterworth is writing the Ringo movie. In November Starr said he'd heard Keoghan was 'taking drum lessons' to lead the film, which will also feature Paul Mescal as McCartney, Harris Dickinson as Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as Harrison. Ringo Starr Had Some Notes for Sam Mendes on His Beatles Biopic Script
We're three years away from Sam Mendes' Beatles movie project, a massive undertaking in which he'll direct four different films from each of the Fab Four's perspective. As expected, it doesn't come easy: Ringo Starr recently revealed he gave extensive notes to the director on his script, where he's portrayed by Barry Keoghan. In an interview with The New York Times, Starr said that he flew to London to meet Mendes and spent two days going over the script with him, line by line. Starr requested that parts be rewritten, specifically involving scenes with his family and his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett. 'He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,' Starr said. 'That's not how we were. I'd say, 'We would never do that.''
