Chloe Kelly reacts to chaotic England comeback to secure place in Euro 2025 final
Kelly missed her 119th-minute penalty but tucked home the rebound as England overcame Le Azzurre 2-1, having been just seconds away from being knocked out in normal time.
Sarina Wiegman 's side did it the hard way once again, breaking Italian hearts after such a resilient defensive performance.
"Unbelievable, such a great feeling," Kelly said. "This team deserves nothing but that. Three finals on the bounce and we want more. This is an unbelievable feeling.
'This team shows resilience again and we fight back. Hopefully we can make it a little bit easier for ourselves and don't need that panic.
'We have hope, we have belief and we have the quality. We just need to keep at it and keep working hard in training to make sure we're ready for next weekend.'
Kelly became the latest in Euro 2025 to fall foul of a missed penalty, with Laura Giuliani diving the right way to save.
However, it didn't matter as Kelly pounced on the rebound, winning it for England and keeping their hopes of defending their European crown alive.
'It wasn't supposed to go like that, that penalty," she said. "I was ready for the rebound and ready for any opportunity given to me wearing an England badge.
"I was confident but the goalkeeper had done her homework. Luckily I got there for the tap in."
Kelly was not the only super-sub for Wiegman, who also brought on teenage sensation Michelle Agyemang with 12 minutes to play in a desperate bid to find an equaliser.
The move paid off, with Agyemang finishing from a goal-mouth scramble in the 96th minute to force extra time.
She nearly won the game herself, hitting the crossbar in extra time with an audacious volleyed lob.
'She is unbelievable," Kelly said. "She should have scored again, that one that hit the crossbar. "She's an unbelievable player and she's got the world at her feet. A young player with a bright future and I'm buzzing for her.
England will now have the chance to defend their European crown when they face either Germany or Spain on Sunday.

'I have spoken a lot with (Mercedes CEO and team principal) Toto (Wolff) this week, but we have not spoken once about the contract because we are both trying to solve the performance and getting the team in the right place. And that is genuine. 'I want to go into the summer break and enjoy the only two weeks off I have in the year. I don't want to be thinking about contracts. 'And there isn't really a major time pressure now from my side, nor from Mercedes' side, because of the Verstappen situation and I presume he is staying at Red Bull. 'Not that I was ever concerned about that but from the team's perspective I guess that has an impact. 'From my side, I was never concerned I was going to lose my seat. I want to go into this weekend and try and get the team back on track and perform better than we have shown at the past six races. Then I am going to go straight on holiday for two weeks and do a week's training and I want to enjoy that to be honest.' It was then put to Russell, 27, that he will be driving for Mercedes next season, but it is now just a question of how his contract looks. He replied: 'Yes, I guess so.' Conor McGregor loses appeal against civil jury's finding he sexually assaulted a woman
Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor on Thursday lost his legal appeal against a civil court's finding that he sexually assaulted a woman at a Dublin hotel. In November a jury at the High Court in Dublin found McGregor liable for assaulting Nikita Hand, who says he 'brutally raped and battered' her in a hotel penthouse in 2018. He was ordered to pay Hand almost 250,000 euros ($285,000), as well as about 1.3 million euros ($1.5 million) in legal costs. Hand, 35, successfully sued McGregor in civil court after prosecutors declined to bring charges, saying there was insufficient evidence and a conviction was unlikely. The Associated Press generally does not name alleged victims of sexual violence unless they come forward publicly, as Hand has done. McGregor alleged that Hand fabricated the allegations after the two had consensual sex. He launched an appeal, but at a hearing earlier this month his lawyer unexpectedly withdrew a request to introduce new evidence. Three appeals court judges in Dublin on Thursday dismissed the appeal 'in its entirety.' Hand was in court for the ruling, but McGregor was not. The 37-year-old fighter, once the face of the Ultimate Fighting Championship but now past his prime in the ring, has become known for anti-immigration statements and criticism of Irish politicians. He has flirted with the idea of running for president of Ireland. U.S. President Donald Trump, a UFC fan, invited McGregor to the White House to mark St. Patrick's Day in March. But the Manchester United attacker's nan heartbreakingly died on the morning of the final. Toone wrote: "Even in the highest of highs life can hit you with the lowest of lows. My Nana Maz took her last breath on the morning of our Euro final. I have comfort in knowing she got to watch from the best seat in the house with Dad, her favourite person. "I'll miss you forever nan but I'll cherish the special memories we made, there isn't enough words I can possibly say to sum up the person you were, but I'm grateful you were my nanna. "My football loving, crazy, funny Nan. All those years ago when you put a bet on at the bookies that I would play for England one day & on the day you leave us we bring it home again. "You always knew it. Say hello to our angels up there, grandads been waiting for you for a while ❤️ love you always, our 'famous' Nanna Maz x."
