Skydiving plane crashes at Cross Keys Airport in Gloucester County, New Jersey: 15 injured, some critical

7NEWS03-07-2025
A skydiving plane carrying 15 people has crashed in the US, with passengers discovered by emergency crews covered in jet fuel, some in a critical condition.
The plane, which was carrying 14 passengers and one pilot, took off from Cross Keys Airport in Williamstown before it crashed into a tree, causing extensive damage and leaving some passengers fighting for life.
The emergency call came through around 5.30pm local time, with first responders finding passengers covered in fuel and in urgent need of medical assistance.
'Patients were decontaminated prior to being transported to the hospital. There were 15 souls on board the aircraft, including the pilot,' Andrew Halter from Gloucester County Emergency Management said.
'The pilot was reportedly in an ascent at that point, and again reported some engine trouble, and that's when he was trying to circle back to make it back down onto the ground but was unable to do so,' Mr Halter said.
Local outlet 6abc reported that 14 people, including the pilot, were hospitalised, but a 15th person refused medical assistance.
Residents from the area told the outlet that planes come in low, close to houses, sharing safety concerns.
'Some of them planes come so close down to our house that it's crazy. I have kids in there. Who knows if they're going to crash into our house,' one resident said.
The aircraft, a Cessna 208B was reportedly owned by a private company and leased to Skydive Cross Keys. The National Transportation Safety Board are now investigating.

Police believe a 91-year-old female driver lost control of a Toyota Yaris. (Eddie Jim.) The man, 60, has now died of his injuries, police confirmed. Police said the driver remained in hospital with minor injuries. She has not yet been interviewed and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is still under way. It's believed the vehicle travelled out of control for about 50 metres before mounting a footpath and striking the adults, both from Wantirna South, and the child, from behind. Aerial footage showed emergency services setting up a tent to cover the car in a park, immediately adjacent to play equipment. A second victim, a 60-year-old man, has now died of his injuries, police confirmed. (Nine) "We haven't got a lot of details from the driver. The driver's suffered some very minor injuries, but obviously terribly shaken by the incident which is why we've taken the driver to hospital for assessment," Superintendent Justin Goldsmith said last week. It was unclear whether the driver suffered a medical episode, Goldsmith said. "We don't have enough information to say whether speed was a contributing factor," he said. 🚨 Heavy defeat in Zurich, Sweden too strong for shaky Germany women

The dream of winning the group is over. At Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, the DFB women lost clearly to Sweden with a score of 1:4 and finish Group C as runners-up. Strong for the future: With retirement planning from ERGO, tailored to the needs of women. At first, everything actually looked good. Germany started with pressure, created several chances right from the beginning, and took the lead as a result. Advertisement But after the 1:0 by Jule Brand (7th minute), the game turned. The Blågult took control and went ahead through Stina Blackstenius (12th minute) and Smilla Holmberg (25th minute). Things got even worse for the Wück team after that. Carlotta Wamser cleared the ball off the line with her hand in the 31st minute, caused a penalty, and had to leave the field with a red card. Fridolina Rolfö took responsibility and increased the score to 3:1 from the Swedish perspective. After that, the DFB team nervously made it to the locker room. Again and again, especially the newly formed defense together with goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger made some hair-raising mistakes. No turnaround in the second half The second half also failed to bring a real turnaround. Although the German women stabilized, there was no real sign of a fightback. The Swedish team, meanwhile, managed their lead and repeatedly launched skillful attacks – as they did in the 80th minute. Advertisement After a passing sequence around the German penalty area, Lina Hurtig only had to tap the ball in and scored to make it 4:1 for coach Peter Gerhardsson's team. That's how it would end.
