Woman found hanging in Jamshedpur hotel room; police probing suicide or foul play
Police are investigating whether it was a case of suicide or if the woman was murdered and her body staged.
The deceased has been identified as Rukhsana, a resident of Azad Basti in Jamshedpur. Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have detained two men, a woman, the hotel owner, and the manager for questioning.
According to initial reports, a call was received on Monday morning reporting a suspected suicide in room number 506 of Hotel El Dorado in the Aam Bagan area.
Sakchi police and City DSP reached the scene and launched a probe.
Investigations revealed that on Sunday night, two rooms -- 504 and 506 -- were rented by a group comprising two men and two women.
The men have been identified as Rituraj and Pankaj, both residents of Rajendra Nagar under Sakchi police station limits. The second woman is a resident of Mango locality.
Several liquor bottles and objectionable items were recovered from the room where Rukhsana's body was found.
According to police, the woman detained claimed that she had met Rukhsana on Instagram and had been invited by her for a party. However, none of the three individuals have provided a clear account of the circumstances leading to Rukhsana's death.
City DSP said that the hotel owner and manager, who allegedly allotted rooms without verifying IDs, are also being interrogated. He added that the case would be solved soon.
In another incident, two unidentified youths were found murdered near Balsiring bridge in Ranchi's Dhurwa police station area late on Sunday night. Their throats had been slit.
Police reached the spot after receiving a tip-off and recovered the bodies, which were sent to RIMS for post-mortem.
DSP of Hatia, Pramod Kumar Mishra, said the bodies were found a short distance from the main road in a desolate area.
No one from the local crowd that gathered on Monday morning could identify the victims. Police suspect the murders took place elsewhere and the bodies were dumped at the location.
Photographs of the deceased have been circulated to all police stations in Ranchi and adjoining districts. Authorities are also checking for any missing person reports matching the victims' descriptions.

CloudSEK detects Maha-based counterfeit currency syndicates on social media
Cyber intelligence firm CloudSEK has detected counterfeit currency syndicates based out of Maharashtra operating via social media platforms, the company said in a report. The report said that the earlier such syndicates were confined to the dark web and underground print shops and claimed that such syndicates were now operating in broad daylight through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Sourajeet Majumder, a security researcher at CloudSEK, said the firm has reported about the syndicate to the law enforcement agencies with details of the cyber criminals along with their phone numbers, GPS location and supporting digital evidence. He said the counterfeit currency network was flourishing openly on social media platforms. "In a first-of-its-kind investigation, CloudSEK's STRIKE team has not only quantified the spread -- Rs 17.5 crore worth of fake Indian currency in just six months -- but also attributed key individuals behind the operation using facial recognition, GPS data, and digital forensics," the report said. CloudSEK is one of the cyber intelligence service providers to India cyber security watchdog CERT-In. The CloudSEK researchers found over 4,500 posts promoting counterfeit currency, more than 750 accounts and pages facilitating the sale and around 410 unique phone numbers linked to sellers. "Adhering to its commitment to responsible disclosure and aiding national security, the comprehensive findings from this investigation, including the detailed attribution of threat actors, their phone numbers, precise GPS locations, and supporting digital evidence, have been formally furnished to relevant central and state law enforcement agencies," Majumder said. He said that the critical intelligence has also been shared with appropriate regulatory authorities to enable swift and decisive action against this illicit network, safeguarding both the nation's financial stability and its citizens.

Two Hyderabad Teens Die By Suicide Within 5 Days
The deaths by suicide of two Class 10 students at a private school in Hyderabad, Sheikh Rizwan and K. Hansika, within days of each other, have raised disturbing questions about how schools and parents seem ill-equipped to understand and address the emotional complexities of teenage relationships and digital interactions. Shaikh Rizwan, 15, died by suicide on Saturday, July 19, after reportedly jumping from the fifth floor of his school building in Madhavnagar Colony, Miyapur. He sustained severe injuries and, despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital, succumbed during treatment. Miyapur police registered a case to probe the reasons behind his extreme step. Just five days later, on Thursday, July 24, K. Hansika, 14, a fellow Class 10 student, also died by suicide. She reportedly jumped from her apartment building in Janapriya Apartments, Miyapur, sustaining fatal injuries. Reports suggest that Rizwan and Hansika were friends and had been in contact on Instagram. The school had reportedly learned about it and called both the students and their parents to warn them about it. This had reportedly upset Rizwan, and that is suspected to be the reason he jumped off the school building. A particularly disturbing detail emerging from the investigation is the alleged role of the school principal. According to Hansika's father, after Rizwan's death, Hansika was reportedly told by the school principal to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Rizwan's parents if she wished to attend school and sit for her exams. This alleged demand, at a time of immense grief and emotional vulnerability for a young girl, has drawn sharp criticism and is being investigated by the police. Hansika's father has reportedly said she was deeply distressed after being denied an exam at school and allegedly being blamed by Rizwan's father for his son's suicide, with him reportedly telling Hansika to jump off the school building like his son. The police have now booked a case of abetment to suicide against the school management and the parents of Rizwan. "We have booked an abetment to suicide case against the school management and the parent of the boy, based on the complaint of the girl's father," Miyapur inspector Shiv Prasad told NDTV. The police are investigating the circumstances leading to the twin tragedies, questioning family members, friends and school staff, while also examining interactions on Instagram. What is now coming into focus is the role of the school authorities and parents, the capacity of schools and parents to maturely handle adolescent issues, highlighting critical gaps in how adolescent and teenage issues, including friendships, emotional distress, and online interactions, are understood and managed by youngsters, educational institutions and families.
