The Wales football legend threatened to upstage the Hollywood royalty around him with news of his own
Bale grabbed a photo with Pitt at the premiere
Wales football legend Gareth Bale rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood on Monday night but ended up stealing the headlines himself as he made a huge announcement.
The 35-year-old dressed up smart to appear on the red carpet in London's Leicester Square for the European premiere of F1 The Movie, with Brad Pitt - who plays the lead role of ex-Formula One driver Sonny Hayes in the new film - among the top acting talents in attendance.
Tom Cruise also made a surprise attendance at the premiere, while F1 great Lewis Hamilton - who stars in and helped produced the film - was there alongside the rest of the cast, which includes Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and Javier Bardem.
Donning a suit, Bale appeared on the red carpet alongside his wife Emma Rhys-Jones and posed with Pitt by a Formula One car outside the Cineworld theatre at the London landmark.
However, the former Wales captain threatened to upstage the Hollywood royalty in attendance as he confirmed rumours that he plans to buy Cardiff City.

WalesOnline learned last week that a consortium including Bale had made an offer directly to current Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan last week, only for that offer to be rejected.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Bale confirmed his interest in buying his hometown club and taking them back to the Premier League, following their recent relegation to League One - but played a straight bat to questions over whether a second offer is to soon follow.
"We are interested in getting Cardiff," the former Real Madrid and Tottenham star said. "It's my home club, it's where I grew up and my uncle [Chris Pike] used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true.
"It's a club close to my heart. It's where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs.
"I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together."
Pitt was joined by Tom Cruise, who made a surprise appearance at the premiere
Bale later made similar comments in an interview with talkSPORT as he denied reports that he was keen to buy Plymouth Argyle, which emerged before his interest in taking over Cardiff was made public, adding: "I have no idea where [that] came from".
He said: "It's always been Cardiff that we've been trying to get and obviously being from Cardiff, it's obviously where I was born, where I grew up.
"I'm very passionate, obviously I know how passionate the Wales fans and the Cardiff fans are, so it's an interesting time. Exciting time, and hopefully something can be done.

"It will be exciting to be part of an ownership group and would love to go down that route."
On whether fans could now expect a second offer, Bale added: "I can't say too much. But, like I said, we would love to be part of that Cardiff ownership and take Cardiff back where they belong."

Prem clubs set to spend big this week as Man Utd close in on Mbeumo transfer
Premier League clubs could ramp up their summer spending starting on Tuesday, as they enter a new accounting year which means they are not as restricted by the Profit and Sustainability Rules The transfer window is set to hot up with Premier League clubs waiting for this week until they ramp up their recruitment, as they hold fire until the next year of accounts. We've just entered the new reporting year under the Premier League's financial rules and it means any deals can now be posted on the 2025/26 accounts, rather than those from 2024/25. Any clubs who were on the limit of this year's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) may have been holding fire on a number of transfers. The powers that be have already shown that breaching PSR rules can result in points deductions and some teams had been putting their business on pause to avoid adding any numbers to their 2024/25 balance sheet, reports the Daily Mail. But anything from Tuesday onwards will go against a new account, where clubs will have a lot more room for manoeuvre. As a result spending is likely to ramp up. This summer we have already seen the British-record transfer broken by Liverpool, who have spent close to £200million to land the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. That said, the Reds hardly spent anything last summer so will have had the room to invest. Manchester United spent £62.5m to add Matheus Cunha but he is their only summer signing thus far despite their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo. They've had several offers for the Brentford man rejected but the deal is expected to get over the line. Manchester City have added three new faces with Rayan Cherki among them. Pep Guardiola is eyeing a rebuild and their summer recruitment will be aided by the millions they receive from the Club World Cup, where they have advanced to the knockout stages. Newcastle have been somewhat hampered by PSR in the past but this new accounting year could give them space to invest. They're going after Brighton's Joao Pedro whilst they have also expressed their interest in goalkeeper James Trafford and Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga. Arsenal are expected to sign a striker this summer but nothing has been confirmed yet with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres on their radar. They've also not official announced the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Wimbledon briefing: Day one preview, order of play and must-see match
Women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka and defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz start their campaigns on Monday while 14 British players take to the court hoping to thrill the home crowd. Here, the PA news agency breaks down what to expect on day one of the Championships. Brit watch Jacob Fearnley is eyeing a good run at Wimbledon (Walton/PA) British tennis fans are spoiled for choice on Monday as 14 of the 23 home players in the singles draws take to the court. Emma Raducanu faces Welsh 17-year-old Mimi Xu in the day's 'battle of Britain' while British number two Katie Boulter and number three Sonay Kartal have their work cut out against seeds Paula Badosa and Jelena Ostapenko respectively. Sixteen-year-olds Hannah Klugman and Mika Stojsavljevic are also against seeds – former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez and Ashlyn Krueger respectively – while Harriet Dart plays Hungary's Dalma Galfi. In the men's draw British number two Jacob Fearnley takes on hot Brazilian prospect Joao Fonseca while Cameron Norrie faces Roberto Bautista Agut. Debutant Oliver Tarvet, former boys' champion Henry Searle, Billy Harris, Arthur Fery and Oliver Crawford also take to the court on Monday. Raducanu plays down expectations View this post on Instagram A post shared by @emmaraducanu Emma Raducanu made the fourth round last year in her biggest moment since winning the US Open in 2021 but this time is dealing with some difficult personal news, a niggling back problem and a very tough section of the draw. But the 22-year-old is determined to enjoy her time in SW19. 'Truthfully I don't expect much from myself this year (at Wimbledon),' she said. 'I know I've just been dealing with certain things. I just want to go out there and embrace the moment. I want to embrace the occasion. 'Right now I'm just happy to be at Wimbledon. I think that is a great motivation to just keep going and deal with everything else afterwards.' King Carlos eyes hat-trick Carlos Alcaraz has won the last two men's singles finals (Aaron Chown/PA) Carlos Alcaraz is full of confidence as he starts his bid for a third successive Wimbledon men's singles title – a feat managed only by Bjorn Borg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the Open era. The Spaniard comes into the tournament in superb form, with his 18th-straight victory securing the title at Queen's to follow up successes in Rome and, memorably, at the French Open. The 22-year-old, who opens play on Centre Court against veteran Italian Fabio Fognini, said: 'Obviously I feel a lot of confidence. But right now I'm not thinking about who I could join if I win three Wimbledons in a row.' Match of the day Katie Boulter is confident she can cause problems for Paula Badosa (John Walton/PA) Katie Boulter's hopes of a long Wimbledon run were handed a major early obstacle when she was drawn against Spanish ninth seed Paula Badosa. But the 28-year-old is confident she can give anyone a match on Wimbledon's lawns. 'I do feel like I can play very well on these courts and I don't think that a seed is going to want to see me in their part of the draw either for a first round,' Boulter said. 'I'm very, very excited. I feel like it's a totally different situation for me coming in this year. I'm not seeded. I'm kind of like a dark horse and I like that feeling. I do like the fact that I can go out and swing free and I've got nothing to lose.' Wrexham duo Andy Cannon and Mo Faal still out injured
Phil Parkinson's men finished runners-up in League One last term to secure an historic third successive promotion. Back in the Championship for the first time in 43 years, the Reds begin the campaign with a clash against Southampton - relegated from the Premier League in 2024-25 - at St Marys Stadium on Saturday August 9, with the game kicking off at 12.30pm after being selected for live television coverage. Before them, Wrexham have a pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand, which includes matches against Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, and Wellington Phoenix, and the build-up starts with a first training session today. But midfielder Andy Cannon and striker Mo Faal are still recovering from injury. Cannon underwent surgery after rupturing a cruciate ligament during the 2-1 win at Mansfield Town on February 23 and is facing a lengthy spell out of action while Faal sustained a thigh problem during training in April. "The players were back in for testing on Wednesday and pre-season starts officially on Monday," said Parkinson. "It has been good for the lads to have a bit of time off. "They have obviously been doing the off-season programmes we gave them and a few have had appointments with specialists to clear up minor issues so that everybody comes back in a good place. "Mo has still got a problem with his thigh which will take a while and Andy is out as well but everybody else should be fit and raring to go. "Andy has got quite a long road ahead of him. We will make sure that he steps up his work in the next few months and he is ready."
