Iconic country music quartet may never perform this song live
A legendary country music group may never perform one of their songs live. Duane Allen told Taste of Country there is a good chance the Oak Ridge Boys will never perform 'Ever With Me' live. The reason? The song reminds Allen of his wife, Nora Lee, who died on March 31, 2024 after a long illness. The couple had been married almost 55 years, Taste of Country reported. 'We've not been able to do that on stage yet, because I'm not sure I can even get through it,' Allen told the outlet. 'Ever With Me' is included on the Oak Ridge Boys' most recent album 'Mama's Boys.' The vocal quartet recorded the project as Allen's wife struggled with her illness. The singer mentioned how difficult it was to even get through the recorded version of the deeply emotional tune. 'If you listen closely enough, you can hear the trembling in my voice,' Allen told Taste of Country. 'We decided to leave it on, because it was real,' the vocalist added. 'I was going through losing my wife during the recording process of that song, and it has a lot of emotion in it. I really like it.' The Oak Ridge Boys are currently on the group's 'American Made: Farewell Tour.' The tour was originally scheduled through December of 2024, but the Country Music Hall of Fame inductees added new dates for 2025. 'We've had so much fun touring from city to city and getting to see everyone,' member William Lee Golden said in the band's newsletter that listed the 2025 tour dates. The Oak Ridge Boys originally planned to retire after they first announced the tour. The group's tenor singer, Joe Bonsall, said in January 2024 that he would be retiring because of his battle with a neuromuscular disorder. He died from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) the following July at age 76. Bruce Springsteen's Blockbuster Albums Storm The Charts Together
Bruce Springsteen is spending the summer traveling around Europe, performing dates on his Land of Hope and Dreams tour. The trek began two years ago under the name Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 2023–2025 Tour, but when he picked up the guitar again in mid-May, he later renamed the venture and brought it to the United Kingdom. Springsteen and company recently played dates in Liverpool, marking his return to the nation, and this move has spurred a buying frenzy of his catalog. Half a dozen of Springsteen's albums appear on at least one chart apiece in the U.K. this week. Four of those titles return to the rankings, becoming bestselling releases once more. Born in the USA is the only one of Springsteen's titles that returns to a sales list and appears inside the top 40. The early-career classic breaks back onto the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 35. It also lands at No. 79 on the Official Albums Sales list after not appearing on that tally at all just a few days ago. Greatest Hits also reappears on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, where it can be found at Nos. 49 and 83, respectively. At the same time, the compilation rockets from No. 80 to No. 7 on the Official Album Downloads ranking – reaching a new high point in the process. Yet another compilation, titled simply Best Of, jumps back onto both the Official Albums Streaming list and the Official Albums chart. On those tallies, the compilation can be found at Nos. 84 and 93, respectively. Springsteen's catalog is so popular that one collection of smash singles isn't enough for the nation. The River is the only one of Springsteen's comebacks that doesn't make a home on several rankings. This time around, it only reenters the Official Album Downloads chart, where it comes in at No. 72. In addition to his quartet of returning favorites, one of Springsteen's oldest projects — his breakout set Born to Run — manages to debut on the downloads-only tally. The career-making set launches at No. 92, decades after it was first unveiled to the world.
