UK's prime minister Sir Keir Starmer may soon have to leave his position as he is under pressure from within his own party and even many poll data indicating that he should be replaced as the Labour Party leader, as per reports.According to a Sky News report, two senior Labour MPs have hinted that the Starmer might have to leave his position within months if the government continues to perform poorly. YouGov poll for Sky News and The Times found that Nigel Farage 's party has a seven-point lead on 29%, while the support for the Labour Party has declined to 22%, as reported by The Express.Even Starmer acknowledged the threat his party is facing because of Reform when he addressed MPs this week, saying, "The Conservatives are not our principal opponent. However, the problem is not only that Labour's ratings that have fallen, but Starmer's personal rating has placed him way below on the favourability list to lead the party, as reported by The Express.The LabourList's poll data found that former party leader and current Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary, Ed Miliband, topped the poll, with a net favourability of +68.6, according to the report.The poll also revealed that Miliband was closely followed by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, who got a net favourability of +62.95, with Culture Secretary and former leadership contender Lisa Nandy in third place with +38.87, as reported by The Express.While, Starmer's rating did not ranked anywhere near the top spot as he was placed in the 17th spot in the Cabinet, with a net favourability of only +13.83, and the poll also found that the prime minister's favorability was weakest among 35-year-olds to 44-year-olds at only +0.76, as per the report.The poll also revealed that almost a third, 31.39%, thought a new leader should fight the next general election, according to The Express.The local elections in Wales, Scotland, and London in May 2026, as per the Sky News report.Nigel Farage's Reform UK is now leading in some polls, as per the report.

Mancherial: Ministerfor Labour & Employment Gaddam Vivekanand distributed 423 sanction papers to beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing scheme in Kotapalli mandal on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasised that the government is committed to delivering effective public administration. The Indiramma Housing Scheme aims to provide homes to all eligible poor individuals. Those who own land and meet the eligibility criteria are being granted financial assistance under this scheme. Across the state, 450,000 houses are being sanctioned, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency. In Chennur constituency alone, 12,000 applications have been received, and efforts are underway to ensure all eligible applicants receive his camp office in Chennu, he distributed land documents to 44 more beneficiaries. He reassured the public that all eligible individuals would receive homes and advised beneficiaries to construct houses only within the 600 sq. ft. limit as per government norms. He encouraged them to utilize the free sand provided and complete construction quickly. Funds will be deposited in phases—mark-out, basement, lintel, and slab stages. Measures are also being taken to ensure drinking water availability in Chennur constituency, including the installation of borewells in drought-prone areas, he added. Under the Mahalakshmi Scheme, free bus travel has been provided to women, with five buses sanctioned for the Kotapalli region. Women can now travel free of cost to any part of the State. As part of educational development, an integrated school has been established in Somanapalli of Chennur constituency, with teacher appointments made to ensure quality education with full roads and drainage canals have been constructed in every village of the constituency. Development works worth Rs 500 crore are underway in Chennur constituency. The Minister also inaugurated a solar RO water plant at the Primary Health Centre in Kotapalli, funded with Rs 5 lakh from SCCL's CSR funds. He participated in the Vanamahotsavam 2025 programme and planted saplings. The Minister urged officials to work in coordination to achieve the district's assigned targets. To address drinking water needs, the government is implementing pipeline installations, overhead tanks, and maintenance initiatives. The Minister also flagged off four newly sanctioned RTC buses for the Chennur region and encouraged women and locals to make full use of the facilities.

As July 7 marks two decades of the 7/7 London attacks in 2005, King Charles led commemorations on Monday and urged to show 'spirit of unity against those who would seek to divide us'. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also remembered victims, saying 'we stood together'. King condemned the "senseless acts of evil" in which bombs exploded on the capital's public transport system, resulting in the deaths of 52 people and injuries to over 700 others. The bombings had displayed the significance of 'building a society where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live together with mutual respect and understanding', according to BBC. The king called upon the public to draw strength from the "extraordinary courage and compassion" demonstrated in the wake of the attack. 'We remember with profound sadness the 52 innocent people who were killed in senseless acts of evil -- and the enduring grief of their loved ones. In doing so, we should also remember the countless stories of extraordinary courage and compassion that emerged from the darkness of that day,' according to his statement in the Press Association. He added, 'The selfless bravery of our emergency services, transport workers, and fellow citizens who rushed towards danger to help strangers reminds us of the very best of humanity in the face of the very worst.' Starmer mentioned, 'We stood together then, and we stand together now -- against hate and for the values that define us of freedom, democracy and the rule of law. Those who tried to divide us failed. We honour the courage shown that day -- the bravery of the emergency services, the strength of survivors, and the unity of Londoners in the face of terror.' On July 7, 2005, four domestic Islamist extremists carried out suicide bombings at multiple locations across London, Aldgate Station, Edgware Road, King's Cross, and Tavistock Square, leading to deaths of 52 individuals and injuries to hundreds of others. "Terrorism Grave Threat To Humanity": PM Modi On Pahalgam Attack At BRICS Summit
Rio de Janeiro: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the session on 'Peace and Security and Reform of Global Governance' at the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil, condemned terrorism as a "grave threat to humanity", underlining the need for urgent reforms in global institutions and highlighting India's commitment to the Global South, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). MEA Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi, during a special media briefing on Sunday (local time), said the Prime Minister's remarks came in the context of discussions on peace, security and multilateral reforms. PM Modi also welcomed the united condemnation by BRICS members of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. "On the session on Peace and Security, Honourable Prime Minister underlined that terrorism was a grave threat facing humanity. In this context, he noted that all the leaders have condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack in strongest terms. He underlined that the terror attack is an onslaught on the entire humanity. He also noted that those funding, promoting and providing safe havens to terrorists must be dealt with in the harshest terms," Mr Ravi said. Mr Ravi added, "Honourable Prime Minister addressed the session on 'Global Governance and Peace and Security', where he reaffirmed India's commitment to enhancing the voice of the Global South." The Prime Minister noted that existing international institutions created in the 20th century were unable to effectively address modern-day challenges, especially those faced by developing nations. "He noted that developing countries required greater support for sustainable development in terms of access to climate finance and technology. He reiterated that the global organisations of the 20th century lacked the capacity to deal with the challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, he underscored the importance of reforming the multilateral organisations," Mr Ravi said. "He called for a multipolar, and inclusive world order and stated that the global governance institutions--particularly the UN Security Council, the IMF, the World Bank, and the WTO--must undergo urgent reform to reflect the contemporary realities and times," he added. Speaking about the future of BRICS, Mr Ravi said PM Modi emphasised that the group could help shape a more balanced global order. "In the session on strengthening multilateralism, economic, financial affairs, and artificial intelligence, the Prime Minister expressed that diversity and multipolarity were valued strengths of the BRICS. He added that BRICS could play an important role in shaping a multipolar world," Mr Ravi said. PM Modi also proposed the creation of a research and science repository within BRICS and urged cooperation on artificial intelligence. "In this context, he also gave a few suggestions in terms of considering setting up a science and research repository in the BRICS groups by the Global South countries to focus on supply chains of the critical minerals. Both secured and make it resilient and the BRICS group to work on responsible AI," Mr Ravi added. He also informed that the Prime Minister would address a session on the environment, climate goals, and health on Monday. "Tomorrow there will be a session on the Environment, COP 30, and global health. During which the Honourable Prime Minister will reiterate India's deep commitment to environmental action. He will also elaborate on the initiatives taken by India to promote pro-people and pro-planet growth and development, and he will highlight India's initiatives in the context, particularly the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuels, and International Big Cats, Mission LiFE among others," Mr Ravi said. On the joint declaration adopted at the summit, Mr Ravi said India's key priorities were reflected well. "This will be the broadly the themes for the session and doing which have been very well captured in the leaders' declaration which was adopted by the leaders today. And you would say it's a very exhaustive document running into several paras. From India's point of view, most of our concerns have been very well captured," he said. He further said that the sixth paragraph of the declaration strongly emphasised the need to reform the United Nations and the Security Council. "I would like to bring to your attention on the sixth para, where there is a very strong expression for reform of the global multilateral institutions, in particular the UN and the UN Security Council, in which countries of the global sought to play an active role. This time that para and that formulation has been further strengthened. Over the Kazan's formulation where it got reiterated reinforced in terms of India and Brazil to play an active role in international affairs and multilateral bodies in the UN systems and in the Security Council. I think this is a very, very strong reiteration of the increasingly important role both India and Brazil will play. So we are very satisfied with this formulation," he said. The paragraph reads: "Recognizing the 2023 Johannesburg-II Leaders' Declaration, we reiterate our support for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations, including its Security Council, with a view to making it more democratic, representative, effective and efficient, and to increase the representation of developing countries in the Council's memberships so that it can adequately respond to prevailing global challenges and support the legitimate aspirations of emerging and developing countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America, including BRICS countries, to play a greater role in international affairs, in particular in the United Nations, including its Security Council."
