Erling Haaland issued with transfer plea after Man City star's holiday comments
Erling Haaland has been inundated with messages from Roma fans after the Manchester City star was spotted on holiday the Italian capital. Haaland, who turns 25 on Monday, was pictured walking around Rome with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen, the mother of the striker's first child.
Haaland and City team-mates aren't having a regular pre-season like the 18 other Premier League sides due to their participation in the recent Club World Cup alongside winners Chelsea. But the Norwegian wasn't just in Italy to see the sights.
During his and Johansen's trip, they attend a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show. After the event, Haaland shared a post to his 37.9 million followers on Instagram raving about Rome's beauty.
"Rome is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to!" the 24-year-old wrote. "And the food? Omg. Incredible. I'm enjoying the summer! Thanks D&G and the city of Rome for making the time here smooth. I love Italy!"
Of course, Roma's passionate supporters took the opportunity to try and urge Haaland to come back on a permanent basis - however unlikely given that he recently signed an extraordinary nine-a-half-year contract extension with City.
"If you love Rome so much, come," one supporter pleaded. A second followed up by urging: "Come to Rome, come to Serie A in the end it's not that bad!!!"
Another suggested: "Erling next to [Artem] Dovbyk would be a great offensive partnership."
But it wasn't just Roma fans who were trying their luck. "What if you come to Naples?! Ask KDB," a Napoli supporter wrote, hoping to see Haaland reunite with Kevin De Bruyne.

A move to Italy down the line is a possibility, though, especially after his dad's comments. Alf-Inge, the former City midfielder, suggested in 2022 that his son wants to play in all of the top leagues in Europe, having already conquered England and Germany.
He told France Football: "Erling could stay at City for 15 years because he is very happy and we are talking about a huge club. But my impression is that he wants to demonstrate that he can win at any of the big leagues.
"He was in Germany for two-and-a-half years and he could do something like that in his future. Staying in the Premier League for three years and then going to Italy, Spain or France. There's nothing firm about it, but it's a possibility because Erling is capable of being a winner in any team."

Fallon joined Celtic in 1958 and made almost 200 appearances for the club over a 14-year period. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad An unsung member of the squad which defeated Inter Milan in the 1967 European Cup final, Fallon was an unused substitute during the historic 2-1 victory over the Italian side. But what should have been a keepsake for Fallon and his family was taken away from him in controversial circumstances. According to his autobiography, published in 2015, the club's manager, Jock Stein, asked for his medal back. Fallon was then presented with a replica, while the real medal ended up with Sir Robert Kelly, Celtic's chairman. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It was, Fallon observed, a 'bizarre and barely believable' episode which reflected badly on those who ran the club at the time. Some 52 years on, however, amends were made when Fallon was reunited with the original medal, after it was donated back to the club by an unknown owner. Fallon was presented with the medal once again – this time by Celtic's chief executive, Peter Lawwell – at a home game against Kilmarnock in 2019. 'It feels great to be reunited with my medal, and I've got to thank Peter Lawwell and everyone at Celtic for going to all this effort and finding the medal that was lost,' Fallon said at the time. It was such a surprise, I got a phone call about a month ago telling me that Peter wished to see me. 'He told me the story of how the medal had been found, so I was very proud to receive it and it adds to the collection.' Lisbon Lion John Fallon was reunited with his European Cup medal in 2019. | SNS Group Fallon, from Blantyre, said he will never forget the celebrations at full-time as McNeill lifted the trophy. He recalled: 'We were wading through scores of fans to get off the park and into the dressing-room. It's such a great memory. We'll never forget it and it's something everyone should be proud of.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Fallon was also part of the Celtic side that clinched the 1965 Scottish Cup, Jock Stein's first trophy win as manager, and he is well remembered for his acrobatic and joyous celebration that day as McNeill's late winner ended an eight-year trophy drought for the club. As well as the European Cup, throughout his time with Celtic, Fallon helped the club to six league titles, five League Cups and two Scottish Cups. After leaving Celtic, he went on to play for Motherwell and Greenock Morton before retiring from the sport in the mid-1970s. His love for Celtic, however, was a constant throughout the years, and he followed the club at home and away for the rest of life. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad

‘I can't call the police to drag him here' – Daniel Farke fumes as £10million-rated Mateo Joseph asks to leave Leeds
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LEEDS manager Daniel Farke joked he "can't drag" Mateo Joseph to the training pitch as he confirmed the forward wants to leave the club. Last week, Sun Sport exclusively revealed Leeds want £10million for their forward in a new bid to land Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz. Farke has revealed he accepts the decision, but he had wanted him to be part of the training camp. Speaking after Tuesday's 4-1 win over SC Verl, the Leeds boss said: 'I've spoken openly and honestly with him about the situation and have strongly recommended, until the situation is sorted, he should do the job and be professional. "He said he's not in the mental state to do this. What should I do? I can't call the police to drag him here on the training pitch. "It was his decision. For that, he trains at the moment in England, individually, and will then also train with under-21s at Thorp Arch.' LaLiga sides Celta Vigo and Real Betis are in the mix for Joseph's signature. The latter had a £10million bid rejected in January. Farke touched on this on Tuesday, adding: "He came to me, and to us, and said he wants a new challenge and would like to have a move. "He has also hinted he prefers a move to Spain due to his Spanish roots and, yes, that was more or less his call. 'We just want players who are excited about the project to play with Leeds United in the best league in the world, here in the Premier League, who want to be here with us and want to be successful with us. 'If this is your wish, I, as a manager, won't stand in the way and [I] accept this because I just want players who want to be here and are buzzing. I've said, 'Okay, Mateo, I accept this, I won't stand in the way'. 'On the other hand, it's also clear we, as a club, have invested a lot in him. "Time, money, backing and he is on the long-term contract and we value him. One thing is also for sure, we will just make a move possible once there is a club who meets the expectations of the club.' The 21-year-old Spain Under-21 striker made 39 league appearances last season, scoring three Championship goals and earning 11 starts. Leeds have been strongly linked with Fulham's Brazilian hitman, Muniz, and even though the player is open to a move, they must meet Fulham's £50million asking price. Meanwhile, fellow Leeds attacker Patrick Bamford has been told he is surplus to requirements ahead of the club's return to the Premier League.
