Going to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final? What to know about pregame entertainment

Miami Herald09-06-2025

The Stanley Cup Final series between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers has shifted to Sunrise for the next two games of the best-of-7 series on Monday and Thursday.
And beyond the entertainment that should take place on the ice — the first two games have been thrillers, with Game 1 going to overtime (4-3 Edmonton win) and Game 2 going to double overtime (5-4 Florida win) — there will be plenty of excitement and entertainment at Amerant Bank Arena leading up to Game 3's 8 p.m. start time on Monday.
Another one
While there is no concert outside the arena like there was for Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final last year, the Panthers announced Monday afternoon that DJ Khaled will perform in the arena both pregame and during the first intermission.
It's the second consecutive year Khaled has been part of Florida's Stanley Cup Final festivities. He performed outside the arena ahead Game 2 in last season's Cup Final.
It's also the second time this postseason the Panthers will have an in-arena performance midgame. Cedric Gervais performed during the first intermission of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Adebayo on the drum
Meanwhile, Miami Heat star center Bam Adebayo is scheduled to bang the drum pregame prior to opening faceoff. He's the latest big name from South Florida to get things started before a game this playoffs. The running list of those who have banged the drum this postseason:
▪ First round vs Tampa Bay Lightning: Inter Miami midfielder Banjamin Cremaschi (Game 3) and Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith (Game 4)
▪ Second round vs Toronto Maple Leafs: Boca Raton-based social media personalities A.J. and Big Justice, former Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle (Game 4) and former Marlins catcher Charles Johnson (Game 6)
▪ Eastern Conference final vs Carolina Hurricanes: rapper Trick Daddy (Game 3) and Dolphins defensive lineman Zach Sieler (Game 4)
Rally towels take jabs at previous opponents
For every home game this postseason, the Panthers have laid out rally towels for fans to wave throughout the game. Each one generally has a theme or saying that fits into messaging the Panthers have had all season.
For Game 3 on Monday, the saying is 'Rats Rule,' featuring a rat with a hockey stick and helmet and a Florida crest on its chest in front of a shield. The Panthers have embraced the rat throughout basically the franchise's entire history, going back to the Year of the Rat in 1996 when they went on to reach the Stanley Cup Final for the first time. It's become even more ingrained this year with Florida's aggressive style of play, led by agitators Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand.
But look closer at the rat itself and you'll notice the logos of the three teams Florida has knocked out in the playoffs to reach the Cup Final for a third consecutive year.
A lightning bolt on the rat's left leg.
A maple leaf on the rat's right ear.
A hurricane flag on the knob of the stick.
They're subtle, but give a reminder of the path Florida has taken in its quest to repeat as champions.
Getting to the arena
For those parking at Amerant Bank Arena, the parking gates open at 5 p.m. and doors to the arena open at 6:30 p.m.
Parking is $75 per car.

Are the Chrisleys leaving Nashville? What Todd and Julie Chrisley said in Lara Trump interview

After spending more than two years apart, the Chrisleys have reunited and are now speaking publicly about their future, following their release from federal prison in May after receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump. In an interview with Trump's daughter-in-law and Fox News host Lara Trump, the former Nashville-based reality-TV stars opened up about the pardon and what's next for the family. They were joined by two of their children, 19-year-old son Grayson and 27-year-old daughter Savannah, who had been a fierce advocate for her parents' release. "We owe thanks to God," Todd, 56, said. "God touched President Trump's heart. God led the people to advocate for us. And so, I'm grateful, because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children." Todd Chrisley, and Julie Chrisley, 52, had been serving time for bank fraud and tax evasion. In November 2022, Todd was sentenced to 12 years in a Florida prison and Julie received a seven-year sentence in Kentucky. They began serving their sentences in January 2023. Here's what to know about what's in store for the Chrisleys. Following their release, Todd and Julie Chrisley want to dedicate themselves to prison reform advocacy. "I have a dear friend in there who's 77 years old. And that, unless God intervenes, she's going to die in there. I mean she could be any of our grandmothers," Julie told Lara Trump. "There's so many young women who are young mothers who got these crazy sentences, never been in trouble in their life," she added. "I'm not walking away. That's something, a pledge that I've made to them and to myself." Todd also teased the family's return to television. "It's amazing that those that walked away from you are the first ones knocking at the door again," he said. The family will be featured on a new docuseries on Lifetime set to premiere later in 2025. Filming began while Savannah was actively campaigning for her parents' release. As reported by Variety, the show will revolve around what life has been like for the Chrisley clan following Todd and Julie's prison sentence. According to the logline of the show, "the Chrisleys don't know best anymore, but they're doing their best to be there for each other." Todd also confirmed the family will be "heading back home," though not to Nashville, where they relocated from Atlanta in 2015 "We're heading back to South Carolina where we came from, and we're going to open a hotel there, and we're going to create a show around it, and we're going to hopefully be grandparents at some point," he said. In an ABC HULU special, Todd shared that he and Julie plan to acquire a mansion and transform it into a hotel, which will serve as the premise for the new show. "I think we will always probably have a presence in Nashville," said Todd. Contributing: USA TODAY Diana Leyva covers trending news and service journalism for the Tennessean. ESPN names Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class a 'June winner' after recent success

Texas A&M's recruiting success this summer has been awe-inspiring, as coach Mike Elko and his staff landed seven of the program's 21 commits over the past two weeks, including four-star running back KJ Edwards, while back-to-back commitments from five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and five-star edge Tristian Givens led to national recognition. On Monday, ESPN writer Eli Lederman named the "June recruiting winners," including Texas A&M leading the way, while Florida, Notre Dame, and the Texas Longhorns followed along with a host of other ascending Power Four classes. The Aggies are focused on building through recruiting and replenishing through the transfer portal, as Elko has continued to discuss his focus on developing NFL talent. All seven of the recent commits are some of the best players at their position, including four-star tackles Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin, who are two of the better pass protectors in the cycle. Here is what Lederman had to say about the Aggies' recruiting success last month: "The Aggies' recruiting heater peaked with the June 19 commitment of five-star athlete Brandon Arrington, who chose Texas A&M over Oregon and sealed the highest-ranked pledge of the Mike Elko era in College Station. Beating Texas to No. 5 overall running back K.J. Edwards two days earlier marked a signature in-state victory, too. Between Edwards and fellow in-state rusher Jonathan Hatton Jr., the Aggies will close the month with the 2026 cycle's top-ranked running back tandem. Commitments from three more top-300 recruits in June -- cornerback Camren Hamiel, offensive tackle Samuel Roseborough and defensive end Tristian Givens -- leave Texas A&M level with Georgia for the third-most ESPN 300 pledges nationally entering July. Through the additions of Edwards and Hatton, along with the late-cycle pledge of five-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers in the 2025 class, Elko has shown himself capable of winning high-level recruiting battles in the state of Texas. But the Aggies' message is carrying nationally as well. Of the 10 pledges Texas A&M landed in June, five came from out of state, including four of the five ESPN 300 commits now anchoring the nation's second-ranked class, and the Aggies aren't done yet. No. 1 overall prospect Lamar Brown, who is set to commit July 10, is among the program's priority targets for the new month." Currently positioned as ESPN's No. 2-ranked 2026 recruiting class, Lederman is right in stating that Elko has more than proved his recruiting chops, and while landing Arrington and Givens was impressive, beating out the Texas Longhorns for Samuel Roseborough and securing rising Arizona-based cornerback Camren Hamiel, two underrated players who could become future stars. This week, Mike Elko's focus is on one 2026 five-star Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and four-star linebacker Tank King, who will announce their commitments on Friday, July 4.
