AJ Dybantsa is one of the top young basketball players in the United States. Before ever stepping onto a collegiate basketball court, the 2026 NBA draft prospect has already amassed a fortune.
A multi-year contract with Fanatics Collectibles was just signed by him. Before he became a global star, many top colleges wanted him to join their team. However, in the end, he chose BYU, or Brigham Young University. In a recent interview, he admitted, though, that BYU was not his first choice at the beginning.
Fanatics signs incoming BYU freshman AJ Dybantsa to multi-year exclusive deal
As per Sportico, AJ Dybantsa's deal with Fanatics' memorabilia division is worth eight figures. Fanatics-owned Topps trading cards and other merchandise will be the focal point of the exclusive agreement.
It was disclosed in an embargoed media release on Wednesday and will begin immediately.
AJ Dybantsa is a remarkable player. Even though he was courted by traditional powerhouses like Duke and North Carolina, he felt a stronger bond with BYU's program. He realized that it could offer him a supportive atmosphere to develop on and off the court, in addition to a competitive
NBA
-style program.
As per Athlon Sports, in a recent interview, AJ Dybantsa talked candidly about the surprising path that ultimately led him to commit to BYU.
The school wasn't initially at the top of his list. According to the Utah Prep star, his parents decided to bring him home. This choice ultimately led him to pursue the exceptional opportunities offered by BYU rather than other programs.

He then said that he did not know much about BYU or the basketball program. However, things changed when he visited the campus and met the coaches. After weighing his alternatives, AJ Dybantsa revealed that he felt that the BYU coaching staff and Kevin Young's vision aligned with his own.
It made the Cougars the only team he could completely commit to.
Dybantsa further said that BYU's training, support, and focus on developing NBA players really impressed him. Now, he is keen to build his own brand outside of the hardwood. His YouTube channel has just started, and he intends to provide content all season long.
Additionally, his goal to engage with fans and provide them an intimate glimpse into his one-and-done college experience is reflected in this project. This further illustrates that his goals go well beyond his accomplishments on the court.

Ice Cube ignites backlash after choosing Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese for $5 million (Image via Getty) Angel Reese fans hoping to see her land a massive $5 million offer from Ice Cube's BIG3 basketball league might be disappointed. Even though the league offered that huge amount to Caitlin Clark earlier this year, it looks like Angel Reese won't be getting the same deal. And now, Ice Cube himself has made it clear why. Ice Cube says Caitlin Clark deal made financial sense, but not Angel Reese This week, on July 25, 2025, Ice Cube was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). TMZ Sports asked him if Angel Reese would get a similar offer to Clark. His answer was simple no. Not because he doesn't support Reese, but because the business side of things just doesn't make it work. Ice Cube, the co-founder of the BIG3 league, said he had no personal problem with Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. He said he respects her as a player. But he explained that sponsors told him Caitlin Clark would bring in big money and that same excitement wasn't promised with Angel Reese. 'They didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese,' Cube told TMZ Sports during the brief interview at LAX. The BIG3 had offered Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark $5 million in March 2024 to play in their 3-on-3 league while still playing in the WNBA. That agreement never materialized, though. Rather, Clark decided to concentrate on her first WNBA season. Angel Reese continues strong WNBA season without BIG3 offer Angel Reese is enjoying an amazing first year in the WNBA. Matthew Stafford to miss more training camp time: how serious is this for LA?

(Image via: Getty Images) Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is sitting out an extended portion of training camp due to ongoing back soreness, but head coach Sean McVay insists the situation isn't alarming. While Stafford will not practice for at least another week, McVay says the team is simply taking a cautious approach to ensure the veteran starter is fully healthy by the regular season opener. In the meantime, backup Jimmy Garoppolo is handling first-team snaps, a temporary adjustment, not a permanent shift. Rams extend Matthew Stafford's rest window to manage back soreness — PolymarketBlitz (@PolymarketBlitz) McVay originally announced that Stafford would miss the first five days of camp. However, after further evaluation, the team decided to keep him sidelined for at least another week: 'I probably spoke too soon,' McVay told reporters. 'We're going to be smart. He's going to continue to do work off to the side, and we expect him to be ready when it matters.' Garoppolo steps in, but Stafford remains QB1 With Stafford out, veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is running first-team drills. McVay made clear this isn't a depth-chart shake-up: 'There's no setback, and this is not a long-term thing,' he emphasized. 'The plan is for Matthew to be our starting quarterback for Week 1.' Stafford, now 37, has battled back issues in the past, making any injury news notable. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mini House for 60 sqm for Seniors with Toilet and Bath (Price May Surprise You) Pre Fabricated Homes | Search Ads Search Now Undo However, team insiders maintain this current soreness is being managed as a precaution, not as a response to a new or severe problem. This back soreness leads some fans to wonder: is this a warning sign or just smart load management? For now, this feels more like calculated caution than a crisis. Still, given Stafford's history, fans are justified in keeping an eye on every update. If he's not back on the field within the next two weeks, that's when concern could turn into something bigger. FAQ: Q: Is Matthew Stafford out for the season? No. He's expected to be ready for the Rams' Week 1 game against the Texans. Q: Will Jimmy Garoppolo start regular-season games? Only if Stafford's recovery unexpectedly slows. As of now, Garoppolo is just covering camp reps. Q: Is this the same back injury from previous years? It's related to ongoing soreness rather than a new major injury. The team is treating it carefully to avoid aggravation.
