J-K: Medical camps set up as 38-day Amarnath Yatra commences today
Ramban Chief Medical Officer Kamal Zadoo told ANI, 'On behalf of the health department, we have set up 17 camps at langar sites and lodgement centres across Ramban district from Nashri tunnel to Navyug tunnel. Mini hospitals have been established at Yatri Niwas Chanderkot and Lambhar Ground, featuring a four-bed indoor facility, a laboratory, and an ECG unit. We have also placed cardiac monitors there this year. Two ambulances have been deployed at Yatri Niwas Chanderkot, the Langar Site in Chanderkot, and Lambhar Ground. We have also kept back-up ambulances for any untoward incidents...'
'The National Highway Authority and the administration have provided four additional ambulances, which we have deployed for yatra duty'.
Earlier today, a fresh batch of pilgrims set off for the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Baba, chanting 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Bam Bam Bhole' as they began their journey.
One pilgrim at the Baltal base camp, who is visiting the Amarnath shrine for the 14th time, praised the arrangements. 'I am from Sangrur, Punjab. This is the 14th time I have come for the Amarnath Yatra. There is no need to rush. The arrangements made by the government are excellent,' he told ANI.
A pilgrim from Bengal, who was part of the first group departing from the Pahalgam base camp, also expressed satisfaction. 'We are very happy. We have no fear. Our government is very good... Our Army is also very good. We have no reason to be afraid,' he said.
Another devotee from the same batch added, 'The facilities are very good... Everything belongs to Bhole Baba. We possess nothing... The arrangements are excellent.'
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said the enthusiasm among devotees for the 38-day yatra is unmatched. 'This Yatra is not just a religious Yatra. Security forces, 'pitthus', and every service provider are involved in it... The enthusiasm among the devotees is unparalleled. I pray that everyone's wishes are fulfilled and there is peace and happiness in Kashmir and the rest of the country,' he said.
Kavita Saini, a pilgrim making her first trip to Amarnath, also shared her experience. 'This is my first time for the Amarnath Yatra. The experience is very good. We got our medical certificate and registration from here. Everyone was very helpful. The Delhi Police and Kashmir Police were all very helpful to us... I will pray that there is peace and happiness in our country and that whatever happened recently does not happen again.'
The 38-day pilgrimage ends on August 9. It will follow two routes, the traditional 48-kilometre Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first group of pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2. (ANI)

Amarnath Yatra: 36 hurt in convoy pile-up involving five buses
At least 36 Amarnath pilgrims were injured after five buses of the Pahalgam-bound convoy collided with each other at Chanderkote in Ramban district on Saturday morning, officials said. The accident occurred after the driver of the last bus of the convoy rammed his bus from the rear, said Ramban SSP Kulbir Singh. After the last bus hit the stationary convoy, it triggered a chain reaction and in the process four buses were hit. Prima facie, it appeared to be a case of brake failure,' the SSP said. He informed that the injured also included women and children. 'Majority of them suffered minor injuries and they were being treated at the district hospital. They want to resume their pilgrimage and buses are being arranged for them. Three to four pilgrims may not be able to continue their pilgrimage,' he said. The SSP informed that the last bus that trailed the convoy and hit stationary buses was a private vehicle (MP10ZF7999) from Madhya Pradesh. The convoy of over 110 vehicles had left Jammu this morning for the cave shrine. Ramban deputy commissioner Ilyas Khan visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured pilgrims. Further investigation into the incident is underway. Commandant of the CRPF's 84 battalion, N Ranbir Singh, said the accident occurred at 7.25 am. 'The injured are from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Along with the district administration, the mobile medical team of the battalion, under the command of SMO Dr Anu Gorke, rushed to the spot to provide immediate medical attention, he said. 'Most of the injured pilgrims are stable and out of danger. Some pilgrims, with minor injuries, proceeded towards Pahalgam in the spare buses immediately arranged by the district administration,' he said. Union minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to the Ramban deputy commissioner after learning about the road accident. Ramban medical superintendent Sudarshan Singh Katoch said 10 of the injured pilgrims were discharged after being administered first aid and the rest after the conduct of necessary tests. The convoy left for its destination early in the morning after the damaged buses were replaced, the officials said. Earlier in the day, the fourth batch of 6,979 pilgrims — 5,196 men, 1,427 women, 24 children, 331 sadhus and sadhvis, and one transgender — left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in two separate convoys between 3:30 am and 4:05 am. While 4,226 pilgrims left in 161 vehicles for the Nunwan base camp for the 48-kilometre traditional Pahalgam route, 2,753 pilgrims were headed for the shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in 151 vehicles. Lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha said the priority was safety of all pilgrims. 'I have directed the officials concerned to implement comprehensive safety measures for vehicles of pilgrims undertaking Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and ensure safety checks at all key locations and uninterrupted availability of food and medicines at Yatra route,' he said. Earlier, the LG spoke to Jammu divisional commissioner Ramesh Kumar and the DC to provide all necessary assistance to injured pilgrims.

Uttarakhand: Pauri Garhwal authorities conduct joint inspection of Kanwar Yatra route
Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) [India], July 5 (ANI): Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra, authorities in Pauri Garhwal district on Saturday carried out a joint inspection of the pilgrimage route and directed urgent upgrades to infrastructure and safety measures. The inspection was led by District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria, who was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and teams from the electricity, roads, and water departments. 'Today, we inspected the whole Kanwar Yatra route with the SSP and the whole team of electricity, road, and water. A detailed inspection was conducted of the pedestrian road, temple, parking area, and toilets,' Bhadauria told ANI. She also pointed out a few areas requiring immediate attention. 'There is a big parking lot of the Zila Panchayat where there is a slight shortage of toilets. We have also directed them about the solar lights on the pedestrian walk, while directions have been given for the safety of elephant-prone zones and dangerous zones,' she added. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand State Health Department has also prepared a comprehensive action plan to ensure pure and safe food is provided to the lakhs of devotees expected to participate in the yatra. According to an official release, special teams of food safety officers have been deployed in Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Uttarkashi districts. These teams will regularly collect samples of milk, sweets, oil, spices, beverages, and other items from the pandals and send them to laboratories for testing. If any sample does not meet the standards, the concerned place will be closed immediately. Additional Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration Tajbar Singh Jaggi stated that the government has made it clear that no leniency will be shown to those conducting food business without a license. Those who adulterate or violate the rules will face penalties as well as criminal action. According to the statement, the government has implemented strict arrangements to provide pure and safe food to the devotees during the Kanwar Yatra 2025. Health Secretary and Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drug Administration, R. Rajesh Kumar, stated that in this regard, some important mandatory instructions have been issued to all hotels, dhabas, carts, and other food vendors operating on the travel routes. Every food trader will have to put a clean copy of their license or registration certificate in a prominent place in their establishment so that consumers can easily see it. (ANI)
