Indian man beaten up in racist attack in Dublin
LONDON: An Indian man was hospitalised after he was brutally beaten up and had his trousers pulled down by a gang in a violent and racist attack in Dublin at the weekend after being falsely accused of inappropriate behaviour with children.
The man, an Indian national in his 40s, was set upon by a gang of male teenagers on Saturday at 6pm and left covered in blood, bleeding from multiple wounds, before passersby came to his aid and he was rushed to hospital.
TOI understands the man works for Amazon. He arrived in Dublin three weeks ago. A group falsely accused him of misbehaving with children in a nearby playground, which then led to the unprovoked attack.
'Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday, July 19, at approximately 6pm.
Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries. Investigations are ongoing,' the Gardaí (Irish national police) said.
Fine Gael councillor for Tallaght South Baby Pereppadan met the man after his release from hospital on Sunday. He told the Irish Independent: 'He couldn't speak much because of the shock he was in. He is not taking any visitors at the moment.

A protest organised by anti-racism and pro-migrant groups is scheduled for July 26. The attack has left the Indian community in Ireland feeling very unsafe and unwelcome and they are calling on the Irish govt to facilitate engagement with immigrant and minority communities to address growing safety concerns.
Streetlink Homeless Support in Dublin said: 'This was a hate crime, plain and simple. Sadly, it is not an isolated case; it is part of a growing wave of racist violence encouraged by far-right groups in Ireland.'

HC stays govt notice on creation of STF police stns
1 2 Kolkata: A division bench of Calcutta High Court's Jalpaiguri circuit bench has stayed a Bengal govt gazette notification announcing the creation of two Special Task Force (STF) police stations and tying them up with two existing courts in two parts of the state. The state had set up the designated police stations — one in north Bengal and the other in south — to register FIRs and investigate offences under special acts like Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Arms Act, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Dalit activist faces judicial custody with two associates
Hisar: Dalit rights activist and advocate Rajat Kalsan and his two companions, Deepak Saini and Pravesh, have been remanded in 14-day judicial custody. The three of them appeared in court on Saturday after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a police team in Hisar's auto market. They were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. City police apprehended his associates during his one-day police remand. A bail application for all the three accused was submitted during court proceedings. The court sought a response from the police and scheduled the bail hearing for Monday. On Thursday, Narnaund police arrested advocate Kalsan in a separate case registered about six months ago, involving a social media post allegedly supporting the accused in the murder of a woman at Budana village. Kalsan was granted bail by a Hansi court in the case. However, soon after his release, Hisar Police arrested him in the latest case related to the alleged assault. The FIR against advocate Kalsan was registered at the City Police Station on the complaint of Hansi special staff sub-inspector Ravikant under various non-bailable charges. 1 2 Nagpur: Thirty-eight commandos of Gadchiroli police constructed a 70m-long, 14-foot-wide makeshift bridge in just five hours on July 28 in the marooned Maoist-hit region of Linganoor, near Jhinganoor in Gadchiroli. The hamlet, 65km off Sironcha in south Gadchiroli, is cut off for four months of the monsoon (June to September) due to an overflowing lake in the adjacent forest, leaving 30-odd families in peril. The bridge designed for pedestrians, two-wheelers, and small four-wheelers, now serves as a lifeline to ensure access to medical emergencies and uninterrupted education for the tribals. The operation coincided with the first day of the Maoists' annual 'Saheed Saptah' (Martyrs' Week), a seven-day period of heightened tension when Maoists commemorate their fallen comrades and target security forces.
