A Look Into Angelina Jolie's New Chapter as She Returns to Filmmaking, Fashion and Global Influence

Yahoo30-05-2025
On June 4, Angelina Jolie will celebrate her milestone 50th birthday. In her first 49 years, Jolie has accomplished more than most can dream: She's raised six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, who she shares with ex Brad Pitt — earned countless awards and become revered worldwide for her humanitarian work.
She's not done yet, however — here is a glimpse into everything the Maria star has had going on behind the scenes.
After a 14-year absence from the Cannes Film Festival, Angelina made her triumphant return in 2025 to serve as the 'Godmother' tapped to present the prestigious Trophée Chopard to two rising stars on May 16.
Angelina is frequently seen at Atelier Jolie, the graffiti-covered fashion retail space she opened in New York City in 2023. She enjoys hosting panel discussions at the collaborative and cultural center–meets–design workshop.
In late 2024, Angelina was spotted filming her next movie, Couture, in Paris. The project, which Variety reported is about 'three women whose lives will collide during Fashion Week,' is being shot in both French and English.
On May 14, it was announced that Angelina will play a banker opposite 31-year-old White Lotus season 3 breakout star Aimee Lou Wood's hostage-taking robber in the buzzed-about film Anxious People.
Also in the pipeline? Big-budget movies, including Disney sequel Maleficent 3 and Maude v Maude — costarring and coproduced by Halle Berry, 58, who's described the flick as Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets Mission: Impossible.
'I have to be [in L.A. because of] a divorce, but as soon as [the twins] are 18, I'll be able to leave,' Angelina said last year.
After her youngest become adults in July 2026, she mused, 'I'll spend a lot of time in Cambodia' and 'visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.'

Notorious French singer faces new probe over ex-wife's death

A notorious French singer who beat his girlfriend to death is to face a new legal investigation over the suicide of his ex-wife following a Netflix documentary about his violent behaviour, prosecutors said Thursday. Bertrand Cantat, former singer with popular 1980s rock band Noir Desir ("Black Desire"), was the subject of a widely watched three-part Netflix documentary that aired from March this year. He was sentenced to prison over the killing of actress Marie Trintignant in a Vilnius hotel room in 2003, but worked and performed after being released despite protests and calls for a boycott. Prosecutors in Cantat's hometown Bordeaux said in a statement Thursday they were looking into "potential acts of intentional violence" against his ex-wife Krisztina Rady, who was found hanged at her home in 2010. Prosecutors will look into "several claims and testimonies not included" in four previous investigations into the circumstances of Rady's death, all of which were closed without charges, the statement said. - A 'violent argument' - In "The Cantat Case" on Netflix, a nurse claims that Rady visited a hospital in Bordeaux "following an altercation with her partner, a violent argument" which had resulted in a "scalp detachment and bruises." The nurse said he consulted her hospital file out of "curiosity" in the archives of a hospital in the city where he was a temporary worker. Rady, a Hungarian-born former interpreter, had also left a terrorised message on her parents' answering machine before her death. In it, she referred to violence by Cantat, the documentary and a 2013 book written by two French journalists claimed. Bertrand Cantat's lawyer, Antonin Levy, said he was not aware of the reopening of an investigation into the case when contacted by AFP. - Albums and concerts - After being released from jail in 2007, the Bordeaux singer worked on a new album and toured with the band Detroit. His case sparked fierce debate, with many fans prepared to pardon his criminal record and seeing him as someone who had served out his punishment behind bars -- four years out of an eight-year sentence. Women's rights campaigners viewed him as a symbol of violent misogyny, even more so after the death of Rady in 2010. The release of his first solo album "Amor Fati" in 2017 sparked more controversy in the midst of the #MeToo movement, which saw women around the world speak out more forcefully about domestic violence and sexual assault. It led to several of Cantat's concerts being cancelled and protests from feminist organisations. At a major concert at the Zenith venue in northeast Paris in 2018 attended by thousands of fans, Cantat targeted journalists saying "I have nothing against you, you have something against me... I couldn't give less of a shit." gf-cko-adp/jj

Toddler Demands Mickey D's Chips in Car, How Mom Cools Down Goes Viral

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A mom's quick-thinking hack to cool down piping-hot French fries is going viral. In a clip on TikTok (@elllieekate), Ellie Blaisdell captured the all-too-relatable chaos of parenting in a McDonald's drive-thru moment. The text overlay reads: "POV [point of view]: Your toddler is screaming for 'treats' in the back seat and McDonald's chose today to serve the hottest french fries ever." Blaisdell's toddler, in full meltdown mode, was demanding her "treats"—a term that clearly meant the just-purchased McDonald's fries—but there was one major obstacle: the fries were practically molten. That is when Blaisdell had a stroke of genius. Instead of handing back the scalding snack or suffering through another 10 minutes of crying, Blaisdell took the fries and placed them directly in her car's air-conditioning vent. The forced cold air helped cool them down faster, making them toddler-ready in record time. Blaisdell captioned the clip: "Mother's in stem." TikTok users couldn't get enough of the mom's clever fix. The clip has amassed over 621,000 views and a further 46,000 likes. Hundreds commented on the clip, with one user even calling it the "most relatable" thing they had seen on TikTok all day. "Gotta do this next time, so smart," one user wrote. "So real. Anytime we get my son food he ALWAYS get fresh fries. I'm like, but I get old ones," another commented. "I got one fry stuck in my air vent from doing this and can't reach it with anything so it just lives there now," a third added. Many other commenters posted about how they manage with hungry toddlers. "Sometimes I stick the Dunkin' Donuts hashbrown bag out the window and let nature help us out," one user said. "I hold the box out the window while I drive," another wrote. "I hold the fry out the window of my moving car while my 18 month old is crashing out in the backseat like she's gonna starve," added a third. Some users were concerned about what may stick to the French fry, such as dust, when it comes out of the air vent. Blaisdell replied: "Literally what dust? Are we not cleaning our cars and changing our air filters?!? Also he licks his shoes so." File photo: A young Asian girl cries and screams in a car.
