Qumulo continues record growth while adding industry veterans with strong financial and technical expertise.
SEATTLE, June 11, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Qumulo, Inc., the leader in enterprise-wide unstructured data management, today announced continued record growth and the addition of two new board members, Kelly Battles, a seasoned technology CFO and board member, and Bob Gleichauf, a technology leader with deep experience in enterprise IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.
Qumulo is adding these two experienced Board members at a time when the company has seen record revenue and profits, and a rapidly growing customer base. Since it launched Cloud Native Qumulo on Azure and AWS in October 2024, Qumulo has seen an over 400 percent year-over-year growth in cloud data storage alone. And, with a rapidly growing base of over 1100 diverse customers worldwide, across a variety of key industry verticals including Media and Entertainment, Energy Exploration and Delivery, Gaming and Sports, Automotive and Autonomous Driving, Semiconductor Development, Healthcare and Life Sciences, and Financial Services, Qumulo is delivering record revenue growth as well.
"Qumulo is experiencing rapid growth as our users, partners, and potential customers increasingly turn to AI and hybrid cloud solutions to transform their businesses. These developments require high-speed access to large amounts of data wherever and whenever it is required for business needs. And, for the last three quarters of our previous fiscal year, this demand has led to a record-setting revenue and profit for us," said Qumulo Chief Executive Officer and President Douglas Gourlay. "With Kelly Battles and Bob Gleichauf joining our board of directors, we are welcoming two industry leaders with significant experience in high-growth environments, diligent financial management, and technology that will help us realize our vision."
Kelly Battles is an accomplished board director, CFO, and operations officer with more than thirty years of experience helping scale technology companies from growth stage to a successful public offering. She previously served as CFO at Quora and Bracket Computing, VP of Finance at Ironport (acquired by Cisco), and Director of Strategy and Corporate M&A at HP. She currently serves on the boards of several public and private companies, including Genesys, Arista, and now Qumulo.
Bob Gleichauf is a respected technology leader and innovator with extensive experience in networking, security, and enterprise IT transformation. He has served in a variety of executive technology leadership roles the past 15 years at In-Q-Tel as well as 15 years before that at Cisco, seven of those as VP/CTO of the Security Business Group that expanded into the Wireless Networking group before joining In-Q-Tel. Prior to all that, Gleichauf led Engineering at Wheelgroup, one of the pioneers of Network Intrusion Detection that was acquired by Cisco in 1998 for $124m.
"The rapid expansion of our customer base clearly demonstrates how our scalable, high-performance cloud data platform effectively serves a wide spectrum of user requirements, no matter if their data resides on-premises, in a public cloud, or a hybrid environment," said Qumulo Chief Operating Officer Michelle Palleschi. "Our Run Anywhere software and Cloud Native Qumulo offerings empower our customers with the essential flexibility and choice for true hybrid cloud adoption—across any server, any cloud, and any location. The addition of Kelly and Bob to our board, will undoubtedly help us advance our corporate efforts and continue to deliver on our growth targets."

Microsoft has become the next $4 trillion company

Microsoft became the second company to reach a $4 trillion market valuation on Thursday, after its blockbuster earnings report on Wednesday night boosted the tech giant's shares. Microsoft's shares (MSFT) jumped nearly 4.5% after the market opened on Thursday, pushing its intraday valuation to $4.01 trillion. The company's shares have risen roughly 28% since the start of this year. The milestone comes just a year and a half after Microsoft reached a $3 trillion valuation. The company first cracked the $1 trillion mark in April 2019. It follows Nvidia into the $4 trillion valuation club, which hit the mark earlier this month. Microsoft forecast a record $30 billion in capital spending for the current fiscal first quarter to fuel its AI ambitions, and reported booming sales in its Azure cloud computing business on Wednesday. Wall Street analysts also noted that Microsoft's Copilot AI chatbot appears to have driven meaningful growth in its Microsoft 365 enterprise software business. Microsoft's move to $3 trillion was more measured than other tech giants, Nvidia (NVDA) and Apple (AAPL), with AI bellwether Nvidia tripling its value in just about a year and clinching the $4 trillion milestone before any other company on July 9. Apple was last valued at $3.12 trillion. Lately, breakthroughs in trade talks between the US and its trading partners ahead of President Donald Trump's August 1 tariff deadline have buoyed stocks, propelling the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq to record highs. Microsoft, the second largest US company, has rebounded nearly 50% from its April 2025 lows, when global markets were rattled by Trump's tariff offensive. Microsoft's multibillion-dollar bet on OpenAI is proving to be a game-changer, powering its Office Suite and Azure offerings with cutting-edge AI and fueling the stock to more than double its value since ChatGPT's late-2022 debut. Armed with exclusive access to OpenAI's models, Microsoft has raced to the front of the generative AI pack — supercharging its Azure cloud business, now the company's top revenue driver, and solidifying its dominance in the tech landscape, compared to Google's cloud and Amazon's web services. Wall Street's surging confidence in the company comes on the heels of back-to-back record revenues for the tech giant since September 2022. The stock's rally had also received an extra boost as the tech giant trimmed its workforce and doubled down on AI investments — determined to cement its lead as businesses everywhere race to harness the technology. While sweeping US tariffs had investors bracing for tighter business spending, Microsoft's strong earnings have shown that the company's books are yet to take a hit from the levies. But despite its meteoric rise, Microsoft has been streamlining its workforce in recent months. The company said earlier this month that it would cut around 9,000 employees, approximately 4% of its staff, its largest reduction since 2023. Those layoffs came after the company cut 6,000 workers in May. A company spokesperson said the July cuts were, in part, a reflection of new technologies that have made employees more productive. While AI wasn't mentioned specifically, the cuts came as Silicon Valley giants deploy the technology they're building to make their workers more efficient. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said earlier this year that 20% to 30% of the company's code was being generated by AI, and it's is pouring billions into AI infrastructure investments.

Crypto ETFs Get Major Relief From SEC

The Securities and Exchange Commission just leveled the playing field between crypto ETFs and other exchange-traded products. The regulator is allowing in-kind creations and redemptions, something that has been table stakes for most ETPs but hasn't been permitted for spot Bitcoin, Ether and other crypto funds. The Securities and Exchange Commission approved requests Tuesday, allowing so-called authorized participants – key players in the primary ETF market – to create and redeem shares on an in-kind basis. Until now, such funds had creations and redemptions limited to cash exchanges. The big players in crypto ETFs, including BlackRock and Fidelity, have been waiting for this. Invest in Gold Priority Gold: Up to $15k in Free Silver + Zero Account Fees on Qualifying Purchase American Hartford Gold: #1 Precious Metals Dealer in the Nation Thor Metals Group: Best Overall Gold IRA 'This SEC approval is more than a procedural update — it's a normalization milestone for crypto ETFs,' said Aisha Hunt, principal at law firm Kelley Hunt. 'The in-kind restriction had been the last structural wall separating crypto ETFs from their equity and bond counterparts. By lifting it, the SEC effectively gave digital asset ETPs their final passport to full institutional legitimacy.' The approval is the latest step the Republican-led SEC has taken in its overall friendlier approach to crypto than that of former chair Gary Gensler. 'The commission's order eliminates the market asymmetries and inefficiencies created by cash-only redemption,' Commissioner Mark Uyeda said in a statement. 'In-kind redemptions will enable crypto-asset ETPs to access the tools for managing exposure more cheaply, more transparently, and with better alignment to how asset managers and investors use ETPs in other markets.' Along with the approval of in-kind creation and redemption, the SEC this week also voted in favor of other changes affecting crypto ETPs: It approved listing and trading of at least one product that would include a mix of spot Bitcoin and spot Ether, as well as an increased use of options on spot Bitcoin ETPs. The commission is also soliciting comments on whether an exchange should be able to list and trade two large-cap crypto ETPs. A long time coming: The changes were long overdue for investors, Hunt said. 'The in-kind approval may lay groundwork for future consideration of other digitally native asset structures and fund formats,' she said. 'It also signals something deeper: The SEC is incrementally aligning legacy regulation with modern market infrastructure.' This post first appeared on The Daily Upside. Microsoft Sees Cloud Growth Accelerate

Key Points Microsoft easily beat top and bottom line expectations, posting 18% revenue growth and 26% growth in cloud revenue. The company detailed Azure financials for the first time, saying the business surpassed $75 billion in sales in the now-complete fiscal year. Microsoft saw strong growth outside of cloud as well, with Xbox and productivity both up double digits. 10 stocks we like better than Microsoft › Here's our initial take on Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) fiscal 2025 fourth-quarter financial report. Key Metrics Metric Q4 FY24 Q4 FY25 Change vs. Expectations Revenue $64.7 billion $76.4 billion 18% Beat Earnings per share $2.95 $3.65 24% Beat Intelligent Cloud revenue $23.8 billion $29.9 billion 26% n/a Net cash from operations $37.2 billion $42.6 billion 15% n/a Microsoft Quantifies Cloud Impact Microsoft easily topped expectations in its fiscal fourth quarter, reporting revenue up 18% and earnings per share up 24% year over year. Intelligent Cloud continued to lead the way, up 26% from a year ago, helping to fuel a 15% boost in net cash from operations to $42.6 billion. Gross margin for the quarter came in at 69%. The company also provided a revenue number for its Azure cloud business for the first time, saying that the service surpassed $75 billion in sales for the entire fiscal year. That's up 34% from fiscal 2024. "Cloud and AI is the driving force of business transformation across every industry and sector," CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement. Intelligent Cloud was the standout, but Microsoft saw growth across its different sectors. Productivity and business processes revenue was up 16% thanks to Microsoft 365 commercial and consumer products, while More Personal Computing jumped by 9% in part thanks to 13% Xbox content and services growth. For the full fiscal year, Microsoft grew revenue by 15% and operating income by 17%. During the quarter, Microsoft returned $9.4 billion to shareholders in the form of dividends and share repurchases. The company ended the period with $94.6 billion in cash and short-term investments on its balance sheet. Immediate Market Reaction Investors were apparently cheering the results. Microsoft shares jumped 6% in after-market trading following the earnings release but ahead of the company's call with shareholders. What to Watch It is the start of a new fiscal year for Microsoft, and investors will be eager to hear forecasts about whether this growth rate can continue into fiscal 2026. Of particular interest will be any guidance on capex spending in the new year as Microsoft continues to invest in AI and data centers. Microsoft has a well-diversified business with exposure to both the consumer and commercial customers and both large AI models and personal computer growth. While some of those businesses are vulnerable to economic headwinds and the threats of tariffs, the overall strength of the portfolio was evident in these results. Microsoft and its big-tech rivals are in the early stages of turning their massive investments in cloud and AI into profits, but the results and new details of Azure are a big step in justifying that outsized expenditure. Investors are understandably excited about the company's potential to continue to convert that potential into profits.
