Former Wycombe Wanderers keeper signs for club competing in Europe

Nathan Shepperd (not pictured) did not play a first-team game for Wycombe (Image: Rhianna Chadwick) A former Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper has found himself a new side which will be playing European football this summer. Nathan Shepperd, 24, who spent two months with the Chairboys between February and April 2024 after a successful trial period but never made an appearance, has been signed by The New Saints (TNS), who play in the Cymru Premier. Advertisement He joins his new team after spending the previous season at Queens Park Rangers. The goalkeeper was initially brought in at Adams Park by ex-manager Matt Bloomfield to provide emergency cover for Franco Ravizzoli, after Max Stryjek was sent off in a 1-0 away loss at Stevenage, which resulted in him serving a three-game ban. He was expected to be the third choice in South Buckinghamshire, but after the Argentine kept his position in the team and with Strjyek surplus to requirements and was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra in League Two, Shepperd became the club's number two. Shepperd was an unused substitute on eight occasions and was released 12 months ago. Advertisement The Welsh keeper was then snapped up by QPR, but again, never made a first-team outing for the Hoops. He is, however, expected to play some role in TNS' upcoming Champions League qualifier matches against Shkendija of North Macedonia at the start of July. He began his career at Cambrian & Clydach Vale before leaving them for Swansea City in 2012. The keeper would spend the next seven years with the Swans upon being released a few months short of his 19th birthday. A move to England followed as he was snapped up by Brentford and was a regular in the B team, being named captain and winning the 2019/20 Player of the Year award. His performances caught the eye of League of Ireland Premier Division outfit Dundalk in January 2022, and over the next two seasons, he would play 79 times before his move to Wycombe.

Michele Kang replaces John Textor as Lyon president

With the club's future on the line, there has been a crucial change in the hierarchy at Olympique Lyonnais. John Textor, who announced earlier this week that he would be stepping back from his role as president, has been replaced by Michele Kang. The DNCG confirmed Lyon's relegation to Ligue 2 last week. The club announced that they would be appealing the decision. It was expected that, given his previous difficulties with French football's financial watchdog, Textor would be sidelined. 'I have shareholders to handle the issues that I haven't handled very well in France,' he admitted. Gerlinger appointed Director General at Lyon That has now come to pass with Kang coming in to replace Textor as OL president. Kang, the president of OL Lyonnes and a shareholder in Eagle Groupe, has now been appointed Chairman and CEO of Eagle Football Group and CEO of OL. Michael Gerlinger, meanwhile, has been appointed Director General. Advertisement 'I'm grateful to everyone at OL for their dedication during this exceptionally challenging time. Michele is the perfect choice to lead OL in the next phase and I have full confidence in Michele and OL will come out stronger under her leadership,' said Textor in a press release. Jack Draper's ‘UFC' regiment that has Alexander Bublik at a loss on how to beat him

Alexander Bublik doesn't know how he will be able to overcome Jack Draper after admitting intimidation at the British No 1's fighter-like training regiment. Draper has put the tennis world on notice across the past 12 months and will soon go to fourth in the world rankings, having surged up the charts from 40th this time last year. Advertisement He claimed his first ATP Masters title at Indian Wells earlier this year and has continued in fine stead at the French Open, taking Roland Garros by storm. On his way to the fourth round, he has convincingly dispatched Mattia Bellucci and Joao Fonseca as well as putting on arguably the match of the tournament so far with home favourite and eternal entertainer Gael Monfils. And Bublik, who will be the next to try and derail Draper, has become the latest to hail his rise ahead of their clash on Court Suzanne Lenglen. "Jack, for me, is insane," said Bublik. "I saw him first day here. I'm like, are you getting ready for UFC? Advertisement 'I mean, last year the guy is 40 in the world. This year he is top five in the world. That's a crazy achievement. He doesn't seem to stop, so I mean, what do I have to do to beat him? I don't know. "I will just go there, enjoy the time, show what I'm capable of showing, and we all know what I'm capable of doing on court and then we see how it goes. 'This is the approach I have now, and Jack is a great sportsman, great person.' Jack Draper has taken Roland Garros by storm (AP) Draper is looking to go even better than his best Grand Slam performance to date, which came last year at the US Open where he reached the semi-finals. There, he was beaten by eventual champion and World No 1 Jannik Sinner. Advertisement This will be the third time Draper and Bublik, ranked 62nd in the world, will face off, with the Brit coming out victorious in both previous meetings at Queen's Club in 2021 and in Adelaide in 2024. "I know him since I played him in the qualifiers of Queen's in 2018 or something (a three-set win for Bublik in 2019). He was a little kid," Bublik added. "Then when he beat me in Queen's, and he told me 'I finally got you'. I said 'let's speak when you're in the top 50', because he was like 300 in the world, and now he's top five. "So now I have to have some courage to play, and we'll see how it goes."
