Trump nominates self-described 'alpha male' influencer Nick Adams as ambassador to Malaysia

NBC News10-07-2025
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday nominated a right-wing influencer known for his bombastic posts about his devotion to the president and tips on being an "alpha male" to be the next U.S. ambassador to Malaysia.
The White House announced Nick Adams' nomination on Wednesday, and Adams himself confirmed it in a video posted to social media the following day.
"Today, duty has called me to serve my country overseas, not in the uniform of combat, but armed with the pen of diplomacy," Adams, a 40-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Australia, said in a three-minute-long video on X. "Our president has extended the hand of friendship to old allies and new across the world. It is nothing short of a lifetime's honor to take the president's goodwill and spread it to the great people of Malaysia."
The White House didn't return a request for comment. NBC News also reached out to Adams for further comment.
During Trump's first term, Trump nominated Adams to serve on the board of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
Before immigrating to the U.S., Adams served as deputy mayor of Ashfield, a suburb of Sydney. After he moved to the U.S., he founded the Florida-based nonprofit organization Foundation for Liberty and American Greatness, whose mission is to teach "the founding documents and American values to K-12 students."
He has also developed a reputation as a conservative commentator, primarily on X, where he has more than 600,000 followers. On his personal website, Adams describes himself as "a prominent and outspoken critic of illegal immigration, discriminatory practices under the guise of critical race theory, a leading voice against the perils of radical feminism, and a champion of American exceptionalism." He promotes those stances in numerous short video clips posted to his Instagram account that show him speaking to a camera.
Adams posts video messages to his account with titles like "How to be an American," "How to flirt like a gentleman," and "How to be a confident Alpha."
He is also known for displays of bravado about his own machismo, including his love of the restaurant chain Hooters.
In one post, he wrote: "I am based. I have rizz. I am smart. I am charismatic. I have superior genetics. I am strong. I am bold. I am intense. I have large amounts of testosterone. I am never wrong. I don't apologize. I am an alpha male."
"I never asked to be turned into a sex icon, God made me this attractive," he wrote in another.
In addition to the life lessons, Adams praises Trump in daily posts on social media. "President Trump is the highest IQ President this nation has ever had, and it's not particularly close!" he wrote on X this week. Last week, he wrote, "President Trump always wins, which means America always wins. Remember that."
"If you love America, you love Trump — there are no exceptions to this rule," he wrote in another recent X post.
While Trump has many outspoken fans on social media who have built up significant followings, Adams' enthusiasm and over-the-top style have pushed many to wonder if he was a troll or even a performance artist.
Ambassadorships require Senate confirmation, and if Adams is installed as ambassador to Malaysia, he would succeed career diplomat Edgard D. Kagan, who was nominated by President Joe Biden and has served in the role since last year.

The clip also featured a series of Democratic politicians such as Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi making the same statement. Trump has shared dozens of interview clips, news articles and statements in recent days, reigniting a long-standing feud between himself and Obama. The latest controversy stems from an interview from spy chief Tulsi Gabbard where she claims Obama was behind a "years-long coup" against Trump. Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, declassified hundreds of documents and emails on Friday over alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. One of the most damning allegations pointed towards Obama trying to subvert Trump's historic win through "manufactured and politicized intelligence". Gabbard claims the 44th US President was likely trying to make it seem as if foreign bad actors influenced the result. Trump ally calls for RELEASE of Epstein files but Don insists 'it's boring stuff' amid whirlwind of murder conspiracies She said in a heated statement alongside the released documents: "Their egregious abuse of power and blatant rejection of our Constitution threatens the very foundation and integrity of our democratic republic. "No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again." Trump has posted at least 17 times about Gabbard's announcement over the weekend. It follows years of speculation over potential Russian interference in US elections. In 2021, it was even said that Vladimir Putin "authorized" and oversaw covert operations aimed at "denigrating Biden's candidacy", according to a bombshell declassified report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The 114-page documents instead found there was "no indication of a Russian threat to directly manipulate the actual vote count through cyber means". Putin has previously denied ever favouring Trump by trying to influence the US election. Democrats have since claimed the report has only been released to deflect from the growing Jeffrey Epstein client list scandal. 6 Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, declassified hundreds of documents and emails on Friday over alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election Credit: Getty 6 The 114-page documents instead found there was 'no indication of a Russian threat to directly manipulate the actual vote count through cyber means' Credit: Since Epstein's death by suicide in 2019, people have speculated that the convicted pedophile blackmailed prominent figures involved with his sick crimes. The FBI has announced in recent weeks that any such "client list" showing who may have been implicated doesn't actually exist. But this claim directly goes against what administration officials have previously said. In an interview on Fox News back in February, close Trump aide Pam Bondi said the client list was "sitting on my desk right now to review." She addressed the comment during a cabinet meeting recently and explained she meant the Epstein file as a whole rather than any list. And despite further evidence - including video of Epstein's prison cell on the day of his death - being released, many are still calling for the entire case to be made public. Many within Trump's own MAGA movement allege the files may have been withheld to protect big names. Trump has been adamant that the documents don't need to be released as the relevant information is already clear. He has called the files "made up" by his Democratic predecessors and reporters in the White House: "I don't understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. "It's pretty boring stuff." Trump has also unleashed a scathing rant on Truth Social, taking aim at those who he says are responsible for the ongoing issues. The President hit out at "radical left democrats", who he claims peddled the theories about Epstein's death and the so-called client list. He also fumed that his past MAGA supporters had "bought into this 'bulls***,' hook, line, and sinker".

Pressure mounts for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify to Congress over Epstein files

Famed US attorney Alan Dershowitz, who has represented both Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump, says Ghislaine Maxwell should have her 20-year sentence commuted and reveal everything she knows Calls are growing for caged Ghislaine Maxwell to be released from prison to appear under oath before US Congress about her knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein. ‌ The demands are being made after Donald Trump abruptly ended the federal investigation into the sex offender, with his Department of Justice (DoJ) stating no further charges would be brought. The move has sparked a civil war among the President's MAGA base, with many now turning on the US leader, accusing him of a cover-up. ‌ It has sparked renewed interest in Trump's once-close friendship with Epstein, to which Maxwell was party to. Now, famed US lawyer Alan Dershowitz has publicly demanded that the 63-year-old be freed from prison and compelled to testify on Capitol Hill in a bid to dispel the conspiracy theories that have dogged the White House for years. ‌ The attorney, who has represented both Epstein and Trump, said Maxwell should have her 20-year sentence commuted and reveal everything she knows. Dershowitz has previously quashed claims that his client Epstein ever kept a 'client list' and suggested that the latest tranche of documents due to be unsealed is unlikely to contain any bombshells. 'Ghislaine Maxwell is basically serving the sentence that Epstein would have gotten,' he said. 'She should never be in jail for 20 years. What should happen is that she should be freed. She should have her sentence commuted. She should then be called in front of Congress, have Congress give her total immunity, and then she can tell everything.' ‌ Maxwell has expressed a willingness to testify, according to Dershowitz. A source told the Mirror his demand has sent panic through the White House as the president grows increasingly anxious over the scrutiny now placed on his relationship with the late sex offender. They said: 'What with everything that is documented about Trump's relationship with Jeffrey, in articles, videos, flight logs and photos, he is now backed into a corner with his base he has never been before. While he tries to tell the world, 'there is nothing to see here', no one else is buying it. Not even his Republicans. For the first time, he has lost control of the narrative, and it's started to damage him badly.' ‌ Since the announcement that no one in Trump's circle is to be prosecuted, the backlash has only intensified. To try to appease the anger, Trump ordered his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to release more of the Epstein files related to grand jury testimony about the case, pending court approval. However, many feel the President and Bondi will shift blame to the court if all papers are not released. Scrutiny in the case ramped up on Friday after The Wall Street Journal ran a story claiming the president sent Epstein a 'bawdy' birthday message in 2003. Maxwell was convicted of aiding Epstein in procuring underage girls for sex in 2022 and is currently serving time in a Florida jail. ‌ She is appealing her conviction on the grounds that a 2007 non-prosecution Epstein made in relation to a solicitation of a minor charge in Florida bars her from being prosecuted in New York. 'She knows everything,' Dershowitz added. "She is the Rosetta Stone. She knows everything. She arranged every single trip with everybody. She knows everything. And if she were just given use immunity, she could be compelled to testify. I'm told that she actually would be willing to testify. And there'd be no reason for her to withhold any information.' Epstein died by suicide in a New York prison cell while awaiting trial for charges linked to the sex trafficking ring in 2019. Conspiracy theorists have long believed that there was more to his death. The DoJ released 11 hours of footage in a bid to try and stamp out the rumours for good. But people were quick to point out that parts seemed to be missing and that the view of Epstein's cell was obscured. Expert analysis also found that the clip secured from a camera stationed outside Epstein's cell was 'likely modified' using the professional video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro. The doubt stemmed from the 'raw' released footage's timestamp, which jumps ahead one minute at midnight on August 10.
