Morocco vs. Senegal: Time, Stakes, and Where to Watch Tonight's WAFCON Showdown
The Atlas Lionesses , lifted by their home supporters, need just a draw to book their place in the next round. Sitting atop Group A with four points, level with Zambia but ahead on goal difference, a win tonight would see them clinch first place and potentially set up a more favorable quarterfinal tie.
For Senegal, the mission is clear: only a win keeps them in contention. Currently third in the group with three points, the Lionesses of Teranga are determined to upset the hosts and keep their WAFCON campaign alive.
The two sides have met before, most notably last October when Morocco dominated Senegal 7–0 in a friendly. But both teams insist that this result belongs in the past.
'That match helped us identify our weaknesses,' said Sadiqatou Diallo, Senegal's U20 captain who has since graduated to the senior squad. 'We've worked hard since then, and this is a completely different context.'

Moroccan midfielder Sakina Ouzraoui also cautioned against underestimating Senegal. 'It won't be the same game. We've seen what Senegal achieved against DR Congo and Zambia. They're a disciplined team with quality and determination,' she noted.
Morocco coach Jorge Vilda is focused on staying true to his side's identity. 'We won't change our style. We have our model, and the players are motivated to deliver a strong performance,' he said.
Morocco have impressed offensively in the tournament, scoring five goals in their first two matches, though their defensive solidity remains a work in progress.
Senegal, meanwhile, showed resilience and attacking flair in their narrow 3–2 loss to Zambia, earning praise for the performances of Nguenar Ndiaye and Mama Diop.
The match will be broadcast live on Arryadia, available on its terrestrial network (TNT). It is also expected to air on beIN Sports 3 (in Arabic) and Canal+ Sport.
In addition, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) may stream the game on its official YouTube channel (CAF TV), offering fans around the world another way to watch.
Will Morocco secure their place as group winners on home soil, or will Senegal rise to the challenge and extend their tournament run? Don't miss what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Tags: Moroccomorocco wafconwafcon 2025

Morocco advances to Women's Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals with victory over Senegal
The Moroccan national team displayed remarkable resilience to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), defeating Senegal 1-0 on Saturday evening at Rabat's Olympic Stadium, in their final Group A match. From the outset, the Atlas Lionesses took control of the game with aggressive wing play, while remaining anchored defensively to contain any Senegalese counterattacks. Senegal created an early threat through Nguenar Ndiaye in the 16th minute, but Morocco quickly regained the upper hand. Ibtissam Jraïdi nearly opened the scoring a minute later, but her shot was cleared off the line by the Senegalese defense. Led by captain Ghizlane Chebbak, the Moroccan side maintained pressure with well-placed through balls that disrupted Senegal's defensive line, though they struggled to convert their chances. The breakthrough came just before halftime when Senegalese goalkeeper Adji Ndiaye brought down Ibtissam Jraïdi in the box. Yasmin Mrabet calmly converted the resulting penalty in the 45+2 minute, giving Morocco a deserved lead. After the break, Jorge Vilda's squad pushed for a second goal. Substitutes like Imane Saoud, who replaced Sakina Ouzraoui, added fresh energy. Morocco came close through Jraïdi (69'), Fatima Tagnaout (71'), and Élodie Nakkach (73'), but the Senegalese defense held firm. At the other end, veteran goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi stood tall, notably denying a dangerous set piece from Marième Babou in the 68th minute. With this win, Morocco finishes top of Group A with seven points, edging Zambia on goal difference. Zambia also won their final match, beating DR Congo 1-0 in Mohammedia, thanks to a 9th-minute goal from Racheal Kundananji.

Family of French-Moroccan rugby player calls for expanded investigation into tragic death
Eleven months after the tragic death of Medhi Narjissi, a 17-year-old French-Moroccan rugby player who was swept away by waves at Dias Beach in South Africa during a training camp with the French U18 team, his family is calling for a broader investigation, reports La Dépêche. Two staff members, the team's physical trainer and manager, have been charged with involuntary manslaughter. However, Medhi's family is urging the justice system to go further. According to his parents, Medhi was brought to a location known for its dangerous conditions. «There were twelve adults, nine on the beach, who allowed this reckless venture into the water. For us, there's no hierarchy of responsibility», said his father, Jalil Narjissi, a former Moroccan international rugby player, speaking to France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The family denounces a lack of supervision, the absence of immediate rescue, and serious lapses in risk management. The family's lawyer, Édouard Martial, is relying on a damning report by the Ministry of Sports to push for further investigation, including into the president of the French Rugby Federation (FFR), Florian Grill, and the travel agency responsible for organizing the trip. The agency, operated by a French national based in South Africa, is accused of failing to meet safety requirements despite being fully aware of the site's risks. So far, the FFR has not provided the contract linking the federation to the organizer, something the family's legal team is strongly criticizing. A new request will be submitted at the start of the next judicial term, with a new investigating judge expected to take over the case. A parallel investigation is also ongoing in South Africa, where the family plans to file a complaint. On May 24, a sports complex in Sainte-Colombe-en-Bruilhois, in the Lot-et-Garonne, was inaugurated in Medhi's honor. «It was our way of telling you that you will not be forgotten», said Jalil Narjissi during the ceremony, La Dépêche reports.
