Ed Sheeran turns painter, to showcase new artwork in London
English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who has been getting a great response to his recently released track 'Sapphire', is exploring new creative avenues. The 'Shape of You' hitmaker turned to painting as a "creative outlet" and set up a makeshift workshop in a disused car park in central London, reports 'Female First UK'. The 34-year-old singer has revealed he has been making art during his downtime whenever he's on a break from touring and he's now preparing to exhibit his first collection, which will be sold in aid of his Ed Sheeran Foundation charity. He said in a statement, "I started painting at the end of my Divide Tour in 2019 and it's something that I've used as a creative outlet ever since. When I was growing up, both of my parents worked in art, so I've naturally always been interested in it, and I always enjoyed studying art at school. I was back and forth on tour last year, and I used a lot of my downtime in the UK to paint. I'd run to a disused car park in Soho each morning, paint and then run home and I'd do that daily until I headed back out on tour again". As per 'Female First UK', the singer went on to reveal he was encouraged to show his first collection by artist Damien Hirst. Ed Sheeran's Surprise Street Gig SHUT DOWN by Bengaluru Police: Mic Unplugged, Fans Stunned | WATCH He added, "I told my good friends Damien Hirst and Joe Hage about the paintings and they encouraged me to do my own thing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo So I decided to use it as a way of raising funds for my Ed Sheeran Foundation which supports music education in the UK and helps fund grassroots music projects, schools and equipment, so all kids have access to music. His collection is called the Cosmic Carpark Paintings and they will be on display at the HENI Gallery in London from July 11 until August 1. He agreed to another viewer's opinion calling their presence on the show 'useless' and clarified that he wished they would've furthered the story or complemented it well. He went on to blame Netflix, the streaming giant behind the show, 'It could be Netflix messing sh*t up?' On being asked why the dubbing was done for the Korean version of Squid Game when the real actors' voices could've been used instead, he appeared unsure of the decision. 'Yeah I don't know. I mean it's whatever… maybe it's a region thing?' He added how some of the actors' voices were more different than what they expected, but gave them their due for trying to find similar ones. 'I don't even want to sh*t on my voice actor either because I think he did fine, I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to say his lines either haha…' He praised his filming experience and spoke about working with Lee Byung Hun, who played The Front Man, sharing compliments about their time practising lines for 3 days while they were on set.
