From Panama hats to high kicks, Brave 2025 had it all.
Held at Aberdeen's P&J Live, this year's show brought together 24 men with one thing in common — each has faced a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis, and each took to the catwalk to celebrate just how far they've come.
And because Brave is no ordinary fashion show, the men displayed their endurance not with the usual smooth catwalk moves but with unfiltered enthusiasm that flowed off the stage and into the audience.
There were twirls, twists and even a few kung-fu-style kicks from the nights youngest performer, 22-year-old Euan Smith, a former lymphoma patient and Korean martial arts practitioner.
Months of rehearsals and fittings had built up to this one night. Backstage footage shown to the audience revealed their was as much fun taking place behind the scenes as one stage, and the camaraderie was palpable.
The men sometimes danced down the runway on their own, sometimes together, linking arms and raising fists in triumph.
'There is a huge difference playing to an empty house [during rehearsals] compared to a full crowd,' said 51-year-old music teacher Owen Somervillve, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023.
'I'm exhausted but so happy.'
By the end of the evening, more than £80,000 had been raised to support cancer patients in the north-east. Organisers hailed the event as a huge success.
'Aberdeen is so generous,' said Friends of Anchor's proud chairman, Sir Jim Milne. 'And I include all the country quines and loons as well.'
The gallery below captures some of the highlights from the night, from the tears to the triumphs. To read a review of Brave 2025, click here.

Ibiza Rocks events resume just days after second Scot plunges from balcony

Evan Thomson from Aberdeen, and Gary Kelly from Dundee, both died this month after falling from their hotel balconies in Ibiza. Ibiza Rocks have resumed their events just days after a second Scot plunged to his death from a balcony at the hotel. ‌ Evan Thomson, from Aberdeen, fell to his death from his balcony on Monday July 7. The 26-year-old tragically fell from the sixth floor while on holiday celebrating his birthday. ‌ Just two weeks later, on Monday, Gary Kelly, 19, from Dundee died after he fell from the third-floor of the hotel just after midnight. ‌ Following their tragic deaths, Ibiza Rocks announced they would be suspending all events. We told on Thursday, however, the hotel were still selling party tickets despite saying they were pausing future events. ‌ And bosses have now confirmed investigations have concluded - with their schedule set to resume tomorrow. A statement from Ibiza Rocks read: "Over the past week, we've focused on supporting those sadly affected by recent incidents and paused our events programme out of respect for that process. "During this time, we've taken the opportunity to review the strong safety measures already in place across the hotel and look at where we can go further. As we always have, we continue to work with independent inspectors, external experts and listen to feedback from our team, guests and the wider community to keep improving and strengthening our approach. ‌ "We're also being clearer about our expectations around respectful behaviour and personal responsibility. A safe and positive environment is something we all contribute to, so we're encouraging all guests to look out for their friends, trust their instincts and speak to a member of the team if they need help. " This week, the hotel has remained open, but with a pause on events during initial investigations, which have now concluded. We will begin to resume our scheduled events programme from tomorrow, Saturday July 26. "We're grateful to our guests for their patience and understanding and to our team for their continued care and hard work during this difficult time. ‌ "All ticket holders to events that were suspended have been contacted with information about their ticket(s)." Dizzee Rascal was scheduled to play at the hotel on Wednesday as part of the venue's '20th birthday celebrations' but that was postponed. However, Rudimental are still set to perform on July 30 for the anniversary, with tickets still available to purchase online. ‌ Following Evan's death his loved ones raised questions about the hotel safety, slamming how the party destination handled the situation. Friend Blair Robertson slammed the hotel, saying they tried hard to 'get things back to normal' following the death. ‌ He added: 'Security took us away to front desk. Paramedics didn't arrive for about 30 minutes. Forensic officers didn't speak English. We were just standing there, not knowing what was going on. Reception gave us false hope. "We heard the jet washes cleaning the ground where Evan died. That was the worst thing for us." Meanwhile Evan's sister Teila said there needed to be 'higher safety precautions', adding: "Once it did happen, the hotel's response was just completely heartbreaking; almost as if it never happened. I pray no other family has to go through this." ‌ On Wednesday, Ibiza Rocks issued a safety notice on their social media following the deaths, saying their thoughts 'remained with the families' of Evan and Gary. They wrote: "The tragic incidents of the past few weeks have deeply affected many. We continue to work closely with the authorities and our thoughts and support remain with everyone impacted. ‌ "Much of the hard work that goes into safety and security in hotels and venues across the world happens behind the scenes. With thousands of guests passing through our doors every summer, it takes a collective effort from our team, security and local partners to maximise safety for all. "In times like these, care matters - but so does action. We have zero tolerance for any behaviour that puts our guests or our team at risk and we are building on the strong work we already do to go even further. "Out of respect and privacy for the people involved, we don't usually comment on individual reports posted online, but that certainly doesn't mean we're not always listening. We're committed to working with anyone who raises solid concerns so that we can establish the facts and take the appropriate steps." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The hotel also noted it is working to improve balcony safety. They continued: "Balcony safety is something we take very seriously, and our hotel meets all the applicable building regulations. "Alongside that, we're introducing further safety measures and working to raise more guest awareness to help encourage responsible use and keep everyone safe."

According to this brunette, she swears by Korean beauty - a beauty trend focused on the 'glass skin' look - for flawless skin. Not only this, but she also got candid on the two tips she recommends to defy wrinkles - and luckily for those on a budget, they are totally free. Showing off her 'go to everyday make-up routine' as a busy mum-of-four, Liana added concealer under her eyes, liquid bronzer to her forehead, nose and cheekbones and liquid blusher to her cheeks. Following this, the content creator, who has ditched foundation for good, applied gel to her eyebrows and finished off her natural look with a subtle brush of eyeshadow under her lash line, as well as a touch of Vaseline on her plump pout. But Liana's TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @bananalianas, sent social media users wild and quickly amassed 152,000 views, 15,600 likes and 252 comments in just three days. Viewers couldn't believe their eyes at Liana's age and raced to the comments to express their thoughts. One person said: 'You look like you're around 19-25.' Another added: '39!! I thought you were 22.' A third commented: 'You look mid 20s what.' From banana skins to ear massages - five natural anti-aging hacks revealed At the same time, one woman begged: 'Sis drop the skincare routine.. you look incredible.' Meanwhile, someone else asked: 'Do you use any skincare? Because you don't have wrinkles at all.' I think the game changer for me has been hydration and stopping vaping Liana In response, Liana wrote back and confirmed: 'I do use skincare, I can do a tutorial of what I use. I do have fine lines and wrinkles close up but skincare and hydration has helped minimise the look.' Not only this, but in addition to skincare, Liana also clarified her two free tips for an age-defying complexion, as she added: 'I think the game changer for me has been hydration and stopping vaping.' Biggest skincare trends for 2025 Face The Future's Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025. 1. Exosomes Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they're a gamechanger for targeting ageing. 2. Streamlined Skincare The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we'll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results. 3. Vegan Collagen Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums. 4. The Rise Of AI AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level. 5. Hair Loss Solutions - Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it's no longer just something we're talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health. Liana's five-step skincare routine Moments later, the mother posted a short clip showing off her game-changing skincare routine, leaving many gobsmacked. First things first, she used the COSRX 6 Peptide Skin Booster, which works to improve skin elasticity, fine lines, pores and radiance and is now reduced to £18.90 on Amazon. Following this, Liana applied the K-SECRET Seoul 1988 Retinal Eye Cream, which has been slashed to £10.99 and the K-SECRET Seoul Retinal Serum, which shoppers can nab for £13.46. 39!! I thought you were 22 TikTok user After this, the mother applied the Mary&May Under Eye Cream, which is on sale for £7.46 and works to reduce dark circles and improve uneven skin tone. For the fourth step in her routine, Liana used the Corsx Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence, which is a number one best seller on Amazon and is now available for only £16. The bargain buy repairs and rejuvenates the skin from dryness and ageing, whilst giving a natural and healthy glow. To finish off her five-step routine, Liana used a gua sha to sculpt her face. Why social media's viral 'jelly beauty' trend could take years off your beauty look

Beauty fans have been raving about the most recent makeup trend - jelly beauty - and with brands such as e.l.f and Milk launching jelly formula products, we chat to experts about why this has become so popular Social media is great for getting inspiration for beauty and skincare buys, as well as tips and tricks for anti-ageing and how to change your routine to suit your skin. Now the latest 'jelly beauty' trend could help to keep you looking youthful for longer according to experts, due to being packed with skin-loving and hydrating ingredients. Several brands are launching jelly products, including e.l.f cosmetics relaunching the iconic Jelly Pop collection after a long-awaited return, as well as the cult favourite Milk Jelly Blush. It originates from Korean beauty and skincare, which has also had a surge in popularity in recent years, with beauty buffs searching K-Beauty more than ever. The hydrating formulas first gained a cult following, mostly from Gen Z, who took to TikTok to share their reviews. Now become a generational phenomenon, K-Beauty products and jelly formulas are everywhere. Zoe Budd, Founder of ZOBU Aesthetic Concierge and advanced aesthetic Facialist told Daily Mirror Jelly textures are having a moment "for a good reason" and said she layers high-impact jelly-style formulas rich in hyaluronic acid, snail mucin, tremella and peptides to flood skin with water, cushion fine lines and create that mirror-finish glow. "These jelly-texture ingredients not only hydrate deeply but also help firm, smooth and support the skin barrier which makes them brilliant for that soft-focus anti-ageing effect. The payoff is that skin looks plump, calm and luminous both on camera and in real life." e.l.f cosmetics most-requested product, the Jelly Pop Dew Primer (£10) is finally back for a limited time, and the sticky gel primer helps to keep makeup in plce while moisturising skin. Infused with vitamin E plus watermelon extract and a refreshing watermelon scent, it smooths skin's texture. Dr Jessica Halliley, Founder of Your Beauty Doctor noted that jelly-textured beauty products have become an instant hit "thanks to their playful, cooling and water-rich formulas that tap into our craving for dewy, youthful skin". She told Daily Mirror: "These hybrid gel-cream textures are typically infused with plumping ingredients like hyaluronic acid which delivers hydration, while visibly softening the appearance of fine lines." The expert said they're great for a quick 'boost' and from a skincare standpoint the water-based texture coupled with humectants could "help support skin firmness and dewiness". But said the "anti-ageing effect is essentially on a temporary surface level" and advised long-term skin changes would be required for "real regeneration". Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint - Lip + Cheek Blush Stain (£22) has earned a cult status among beauty fans, who call it a "must have" for any makeup bag that people say leaves their skin looking healthy. Another viral favourite that has been hailed on TikTok by beauty fans is the fwee Lip & Cheek Blurry Pudding Pot (£16). A tinted balm for the lips and cheeks. The creamy, bouncy pudding-like texture glides on effortlessly. It can work as a matte lip tint or blush and the pigmented formula blurs to leave a subtle finish or can be layered to build colour.
