Rosie Roche dead: Family mourn 'darling' cousin of Prince William and Harry

Daily Mirror4 days ago
Rosie Roche, 20, was found dead at her family home in Wiltshire on July 14. Police have ruled out any third-party involvement as her family have now placed an obituary in their local newspaper
The parents of Rosie Roche, the tragic cousin of Princes William and Harry, have paid an emotional tribute to their "darling" daughter.

The 20-year-old was discovered dead at her family residence in Norton, Wiltshire. Rosie, who was studying English Literature at Durham University, was reportedly preparing for a getaway with friends when her mother and sister made the heartbreaking find on July 14. A firearm was found at the scene.

She was the daughter of Edmund (Hugh) Burke Roche and Pippa Long, who are mourning the devastating loss. The family, who have strong ties to the British aristocracy, have described her an "incredible" sister to Archie and Agatha as they come to terms with the heartbreaking news.

An obituary placed in the Yorkshire Post by the family reads: " Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke Died on Monday 14th July 2025. Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long. Private family funeral. A memorial service will be held at a later date."
During an inquest hearing at Wiltshire and Swindon coroner's court, area coroner Grant Davies said police 'have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement'. Rosie was working towards obtaining a degree in English Literature at Durham University during the time of her death. A spokeswoman said she 'will be sorely missed'. The inquest has been adjourned until October 25.

Ms Roche's death comes after Thomas Kingston, who married Harry and William's cousin Lady Gabriella in 2019, died in February last year aged just 45 with a firearm next to him. The financier suffered a "traumatic head wound", and a gun was found near to his body in an outbuilding at his parents home in the Cotswolds, an inquest opening at Gloucestershire Coroners Court heard. Police said they were satisfied the death was not suspicious.
He and Lady Gabriella didn't seem to have any relationship or money troubles, a family friend told The Times - while another close friend shared that Mr Kingston always put others first, which might have affected his own mental health.
The former financier, who studied economic history at Bristol University, had numerous brushes with death - the most notable being a suicide bombing at the church in 2004, which claimed 22 lives.
Reflecting on the event, Reverend Canon Andrew White, who ran the only Anglican church in Baghdad, Iraq, where Mr Kingston reportedly spent time as a hostage negotiator, said: 'We couldn't move, and I can remember saying 'What do we do Tom?'
'And he said, 'Pray'. I said, 'Lord, have mercy on us' and suddenly a huge oil tanker about 25 metres ahead of us blew up. If we hadn't been in the traffic jam, we would have been killed instantly. But this was a kind of daily thing that happened.'

Portuguese police revealed today that the 18-year-old Brit had been robbed and hospitalised. The group is said to have stolen the victim's phone, worth around €600 (£525) Cops said five of the attackers - all aged 17 - have been arrested. Another four were identified by police. The violent crime occurred at the party resort of Albufeira. Two of the teenage suspects were filmed kicking their victim in the footage posted online. CCTV footage in the area where the assault took place is understood to have been key to the identification of those responsible. The unnamed victim is now back in the UK. Confirming the arrests, a spokesman for the GNR police force said: "The Faro Territorial Command arrested five 17-year-old men for robbery in the municipality of Albufeira. "The military police carried out police investigations that enabled them to identify and locate the suspects. 'During the police investigation, the GNR intercepted the five suspects and arrested them, also seizing five mobile phones. 'The detainees were due to appear on July 24 at the Portimao Judicial Court.' The teenagers, who live in Quarteira near Albufeira, are suspected of a number of other violent assaults on other young tourists. An active police investigation is ongoing. Local reports said they filmed the attacks and posted the footage on social media to brag about what they had done. Albufeira has come under the spotlight in recent weeks following the deaths of two British tourists in quick succession. On June 4, tragic Scots tourist Greg Monks was found dead near Albufeira after going missing a week earlier in the resort. The 38-year-old plant mechanic from Glasgow is believed to have lost his life after jumping over a wall and falling down a steep hillside during a night out with his stag do friends. Around four hours before Greg's body was found by police, another young Brit tourist was found dead behind a steep drop at the back of a residential block by Albufeira's Old Town. The 21-year-old is said to have gone out drinking with pals and is thought to have become disoriented as he tried to get back to his hotel. News of his death only emerged three days after Greg was found dead.

CNN interrupted for major breaking news which could have 'huge impact' on Donald Trump

A breaking news story halted proceedings on CNN and the future outcome could have ramifications for president Donald Trump. The news organisation broke to breaking news to inform that Ghislaine Maxwell has been granted a form of limited immunity to talk during her meetings with Department of Justice officials. CNN news reporter Erin Burnett read out live on air: "We are just learning this hour that Jeffrey Epstein's ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell was granted limited immunity in order to talk with Trump's personal attorney turned deputy attorney general, Todd Blanch." The British socialite and former ex-girlfriend of convicted sex offender Epstein met with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche on multiple occasions this week. It's said she was the one who initiated the meetings. The limited immunity means that anything Maxwell said that was truthful couldn't be used against her in the future. According to her attorney, David Oscar Markus, during the past days worth of talks, Maxwell was asked questions by DOJ on "maybe about 100 different people". He told CNN and other reporters, she answered the questions put to her and "didn't hold anything back". It's said Maxwell spoke for nine hours over the two days. Trump is mentioned within the Epstein files, with has name appearing multiple times on flight logs for Epstein's private plane in the 1990s. However, it is unknown whether Maxwell's questions involved the president. Trump had said earlier he hasn't thought about giving Maxwell a pardon or commutation for her cooperation. However he hadn't ruled it out. He explained how he is "allowed to do it" but hasn't thought about it. After Maxwell's arrest in connection to Epstein's crimes in 2020, Trump had said: "I do wish her well. I'm not looking for anything bad for her." Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in jail for trafficking underage girls. She was convicted of five charges in December 2021 for recruiting and grooming four girls to have sexual encounters with Epstein, then her boyfriend, between 1994 and 2004 following a month-long trial. Before imposing a 20-year sentence, Judge Nathan summarised the cases of several of the victims. She said Maxwell and Epstein used a "playbook" over the years, and the result was "incalculable" damage to their victims. "The sentence I impose must reflect the gravity of Ms Maxwell's conduct," she said. 'A substantial sentence will send an unmistakable message that those who engage in the sexual abuse and trafficking of underage victims will be held accountable by the law. 'The rule of law demands, and this court agrees, that whether you are rich or powerful or entirely unknown, nobody is above the law." Judge Nathan added: 'It is important to emphasise that although Epstein was central to this criminal scheme, Ms Maxwell is not being punished in place of Epstein or as a proxy for Epstein." She went on to call the crimes "heinous and predatory'. Maxwell continues to appeal her conviction. The initial appeal against her convictions was rejected by a US court in September last year. She currently isn't eligible for release from prison until July 2037.

Passengers pin down man who tries to open plane door mid-flight

Footage shows flight attendants and passengers on the London Gatwick flight from the Dominican Republic restraining the man on June 29. Oore Fabunmi, 25, said she was sat behind the man when he suddenly stood up and ran toward the front of the aircraft. Screams erupted from throughout the cabin as he tried to pry open the doors. Passengers stepped in to pin the man down before TUI airline staff stepped in to detain him. He remained sat with staff for the rest of the flight and was escorted off the plane by police officers upon landing in London. Oore, a hearings officer from south London, said: 'It was pretty scary at first. 'I remember just seeing him leave the row in front of me and run forward. 'Next thing I heard was just screams coming from the front. 'My first thought was that we were being hijacked and we might die – like in the movies.' Oore said she interacted with the man at the beginning of the flight as she helped him find the correct seat. Oore said: 'I had chatted to him earlier in the journey. I got onto the plane with some friends I'd made on the holiday and he was actually sitting in one of their seats. 'They asked him to move and he seemed confused about his ticket so I helped him find his seat. 'He seemed alright after that until he started getting agitated halfway through the flight.' But four hours into the eight hour flight, Oore said the man began to grow restless. She said: 'He stood up on his seat, which I obviously thought was strange and then he just ran to the doors.' Passengers intervened and tried to pin the man down before airline staff stepped in to detain him. Oore said: 'All of it was quite strange. I think he clearly needed some help. More Trending 'He did not seem mentally well. I remember him muttering something about his wife being on a cruise, both at his seat and later by the door. 'But outside of that, I have no idea why he did what he did.' The man remained sat for the rest of the journey and passengers were asked to remain seated after landing while police came aboard to escort him off. The TUI Group have been contacted for comment.
