NEW YORK, Aug. 02, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bragar Eagel & Squire, P.C., a nationally recognized stockholder rights law firm, announces that a class action lawsuit has been filed against UnitedHealth Group Incorporated ('UnitedHealth' or the 'Company') (NYSE: UNH) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased or otherwise acquired UnitedHealth securities between December 3, 2024 and April 16, 2025, both dates inclusive (the 'Class Period'). Investors have until July 7, 2025 to apply to the Court to be appointed as lead plaintiff in the lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (1) UnitedHealth had, for years, engaged in a corporate strategy of denying health coverage in order to boost its profits, and ultimately, its share price; (2) this anti-consumer (and at times unlawful) strategy resulted in regulatory scrutiny (as well as public angst) against UnitedHealth, which ultimately resulted in the murder of Brian Thompson ('Thompson'); (3) animus towards UnitedHealth was such that, subsequent to the murder of Thompson, many Americans openly celebrated his demise, expressed admiration for his accused killer, and/or otherwise demanded that UnitedHealth change its strategy even if they condemned Thompson's killing; (4) the foregoing regulatory and public outrage caused UnitedHealth to change its corporate practices; (5) notwithstanding the foregoing, UnitedHealth recklessly stuck with the guidance it issued the day before Thompson's murder, which was unrealistic considering UnitedHealth's changing corporate strategies; and (6) as a result, defendants' public statements were materially false and/or misleading at all relevant times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages.
If you purchased or otherwise acquired UnitedHealth shares and suffered a loss, are a long-term stockholder, have information, would like to learn more about these claims, or have any questions concerning this announcement or your rights or interests with respect to these matters, please contact Brandon Walker or Marion Passmore by email at [email protected], telephone at (212) 355-4648, or by filling out this contact form. Key Points The company blew past analyst estimates for profitability, and also beat the consensus for revenue. Going forward, it's expecting double-digit improvements on both the top and bottom lines. 10 stocks we like better than Workiva › It's not every day that a stock rises by over 30% in a single session. Enterprise software developer Workiva (NYSE: WK) achieved that feat on Friday, with its share price zooming 32% higher on the day thanks to an extremely well-received quarterly earnings report. That rise was all the more impressive given that it was generally a down day for stocks, with the S&P 500 index closing 1.6% underwater. Meaty growth figures in the second quarter Workiva's revenue for its second quarter was $215 million, representing a sturdy 21% improvement over the same period of 2024. That number was also notably higher than the average analyst estimate of under $209 million. The bulk of this take was from subscription and support revenue, which climbed 23% higher to $198 million. The company also blew past the consensus pundit expectation for non-GAAP (adjusted) net income. That line item rang in at $11 million ($0.19 per share), for a 22% increase over the year-ago result. Analysts had collectively been anticipating only $0.05 per share. Workiva said that its solutions keep resonating with the customer base. In a statement, CEO Julie Iskow said there was "continued demand for our broad portfolio of solutions and unified platform." A double beat on guidance, too If Workiva's guidance is any indication, the company is going to continue marching down that high-growth path. It is modeling revenue of $870 million to $873 million, which tops the consensus analyst estimate of slightly over $866 million. It's also at least 18% above the actual, full-year 2024 result. As for adjusted profitability, Workiva's forecast for the entirety of 2025 is $1.31 to $1.38 per share. Again, that exceeds both the prognosticator average of $1.04 and is well ahead of the previous year's figure of $0.94. Should you buy stock in Workiva right now? Federal Reserve governor Kugler resigns, creating vacancy for Trump

Aug. 2 (UPI) -- One of the seven members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Adriana Kugler, announced she is stepping down next week, creating an opening for President Donald Trump to fill. Her term was set to expire in January but Kugler said Friday she will depart in seven days. President Joe Biden appointed Kugler, a 55-year-old labor economist, in September 2023. Governors' terms are for 14 years, and Kugler filled an opening. 'The Federal Reserve does important work to help foster a healthy economy and it has been a privilege to work towards that goal on behalf of all Americans for nearly two years,' Kugler said in her resignation letter to Trump. 'I am proud to have tackled this role with integrity, a strong commitment to serving the public, and with a data-driven approach strongly based on my expertise in labor markets and inflation.' Kugler said she plans to return to teaching public policy at Georgetown University in the fall. She was a vice provost for faculty at Georgetown and earned her Ph.D. in economics at the University of California at Berkeley. 'I am especially honored to have served during a critical time in achieving our dual mandate of bringing down prices and keeping a strong and resilient labor market,' she wrote in the letter. Kugler did not vote on Wednesday when the central bank's Federal Open Market Committee kept the benchmark interest rate unchanged at a range of 4.25% to 4.5% for a fifth consecutive meeting. Two of the 11 committee members who did vote dissented, backing Trump's desire to lower rates. The 12-member committee includes the seven governors, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and four remaining 11 Reserve Bank presidents who serve one-year terms on a rotating basis. 'We just found out that I have an open spot on the Federal Reserve Board. I'm very happy about that,' Trump said late Friday before boarding Marine One. He later posted on Truth Social that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell 'should resign, just like Adriana Kugler, a Biden Appointee, resigned. She knew he was doing the wrong thing on Interest Rates. He should resign, also!' The replacement may ultimately replace Powell, whose term ends in May, though he can remain as a governor until 2028. The president appoints each of the board members and designates one to serve as chair for four years. Trump appointed Powell during his first presidency in 2018. Biden appointed him to another term as chairman. 'Trump's influence on interest rates will now be felt earlier and more strongly,' Derek Tang, an economist at LHMeyer, an economic consulting firm, told The Washington Post. Contenders to lead the Fed are National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, former Fed governor Kevin Warsh and Fed governor Christopher Waller, each with distinct strengths, The Washington Post reported. Trump has said he wants Scott Bessent to remain as Treasury secretary. Trump has sought to replace Powell, calling him on Truth Social 'a stubborn MORON' and 'too late' on lowering interest rates. But he can only be fired 'for cause,' such as malfeasance, neglect of duty or inefficiency, rather than disagreeing with policies. Experts say his removal could disrupt the financial markets.
