"We are in our mid 30s and we have one small kid. We've been living in the US for about 15 years. With all the things happening here in tech and in country, we're contemplating moving back to India," the couple wrote in the post titled, "What would be good numbers to move to India and retire". "We will probably take a break for some time and will find work later depending on our interests but we do not want to let it take over our lives. So, whats a good number to retire early in India and live a comfortable life while raising a child," they asked. While some said $3 million was enough to survive in any Indian city, others said that there were several factors in play, including the place of residence and the lifestyle they have. "Several factors in play. From the place you choose to kind of lifestyle you maintain n your spending habits. If u live in tier 2 smart/well developed city your standard expenses wont go beyond 75k/INR that includes rental, food n some needy things. If u own a house, cost will come down. If ur kid studies in a good standard school, add 30-50k per month on top. As a net net, 2 laks per month would be more than sufficient if u really want a standard+ life. If u find some work there after 12/24/36 months, u will get equal pay per month or more to offset this cost n help you compound to last forever," one user explained. "Depends on the lifestyle you 3 want to live. You could need as little as $50k or as much as $10M plus," said another. "I recently spent some extended amount of time in India (bangalore specifically). Make no mistake OP, India is quite expensive esp if you want a life closer to the US. Some of the premier gated communities in bangalore like Adarsh, brigade or prestige which probably have a US suburban type feel will easily cost 5cr above for 2000sqft and above. Madras HC case delays Avinashi road flyover project
COIMBATORE: The much-anticipated completion of the Avinashi Road elevated flyover project in Coimbatore is likely to be delayed once again, as a fresh legal hurdle has emerged. A landowner has moved the Madras High Court, alleging that a flyover pillar has been constructed in a way that obstructs access to his property near PRS Grounds, close to Residency Hotel. The 10.1-kilometre-long elevated flyover, being executed by the Special Projects Wing of the State Highways Department at a cost of Rs 1,621.3 crore, was originally scheduled for completion by the end of this month. However, with the case now pending in court, work on a crucial ramp near PRS Grounds has been stalled midway. According to officials, the flyover comprises entry and exit ramps at eight locations along both directions between Uppilipalayam and Goldwins. The ramp near PSG College of Arts and Science has been completed, and work is in progress at other locations such as near Suguna Kalyana Mandapam, the GD Museum, and opposite Peelamedu Police Station. The disputed section near PRS Grounds is part of the ramp construction on the stretch from Anna Silai junction towards the Coimbatore Airport. The landowner claims that the flyover pillar has blocked the access to a vacant plot near Residency Hotel. In response, the Highways Department has filed an appeal with the Madras High Court, seeking permission to resume work.

Sleeping pods introduced at Vizag railway station to meet growing demand for stay
In a first-of-its-kind initiative under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Zone, Waltair Division has launched sleeping pods at Visakhapatnam railway station premises. The capsule hotel , developed under the Non-Fare Revenue model, offers affordable and modern accommodation for passengers visiting Vizag for medical, tourism, education, or industry-related purposes. Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra at the launch of this facility on Thursday said that accommodation demand remains high at the station, often exceeding availability, prompting this pilot initiative to improve passenger comfort and convenience. "This facility, inspired by metropolitan models, ensures budget-friendly, hygienic, and secure stay options for travellers," said an official from Waltair Division on Friday. The facility has been established on Platform No. 1, Gate No. 3 of the railway station and Passengers can access the sleeping pod facility without needing a train ticket or even a platform ticket. It is open for use by the general public. Live Events The sleeping pod complex comprises 88 ergonomically designed beds - 73 single, 15 double, and 18 exclusively for women in a dedicated section with separate bathrooms. Women travellers have a private hall with a dressing room and modern bathrooms, designed for safety, privacy, and enhanced comfort inside the station premises. Key amenities include round-the-clock hot water, free Wi-Fi, modern toilets, spacious bathrooms, an in-house snacks bar, and a dedicated travel desk to assist tourists and commuters. Rates are set at Rs 200 for single pod up to three hours and Rs 400 for 24 hours while double beds cost Rs 300 and Rs 600 respectively. Sirish, a pilgrim from Tirupati told PTI that he opted for the pods after visiting Simhachalam Temple, calling it a clean and affordable alternative to unavailable hotel rooms. Prarthana, a frequent traveller to Vizag from Kolkata, described the beds as "home-like," praising the luggage space and comfort, noting how helpful it is for passengers arriving after long-distance journeys. Suresh, travelling from Hyderabad, told PTI that he was surprised at the facility's availability, adding that similar pods should be introduced nationwide to generate revenue to the railway and provide safety and convenience. Online booking may be introduced later, depending on passenger demand.
