NSAB chief Alok Joshi bats for intelligence sharing among agencies
Joshi, who was addressing delegates at the 'Police Technology Summit 2025' at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gandhinagar, headed the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), apex level agencies in the country's intelligence mechanism, before helming NSAB.
Gandhinagar, Jun 5 (PTI) National Security Advisory Board chairman Alok Joshi on Thursday emphasised the need for intelligence sharing among government agencies for better results and asserted that one of the challenges agencies face is breaking the silos in which they operate.
'One of the challenges that India is facing is breaking the silos without compromising on the principle of 'need to know'. I think that is something which is central to our system and it will not go away,' Joshi said.
He emphasised that analysing and operationalising intelligence is equally important.
'So, my request to the police officers here is that if you are receiving information or sharing information, remember that there's somebody who is a consumer of that information. What would you expect the consumer to do with that information? I think this is something that has to be ingrained in the system, both at the time of collection, and both at the time of dissemination' said Joshi.
He said no intelligence is complete without feedback, but it is equally difficult to get feedback on the input shared with other agencies.
'It is very difficult, but as a producer, it is your duty to chase it. Ensure that you get feedback or have a relationship with that organization where you have the trust and the confidence built in to give you that feedback,' he told the delegates.

During his address, Joshi also said the government should share the development cost incurred by entrepreneurs building indigenous technologies.
'If you want to strengthen your indigenous effort, you have to pay the cost for it. The development cost has to be shared by the government. At NSAB, we have started taking a re-look at the procurement process, especially for policing and security agencies. It is necessary because you can't have a no cost-no commitment principle. Working in this kind of environment, it will just not work. It will not encourage the industry' he stressed. PTI PJT PD BNM

Union minister flags off 435MW solar project
Union minister for new and renewable energy, Pralhad Joshi, Saturday inaugurated the 435-MW Gorbea Solar Power Project , developed by Zelestra India , in Rajasthan. He said, "With every megawatt we generate, we are not just producing power, we are building a New India." The Gorbea Solar Power Project, delivered in under eight months, spans 1,250 acres and is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India . Joshi noted that almost 70 per cent of Rajasthan's power capacity is now sourced from renewable energy, with over 35.4 gigawatts installed, 29.5 gigawatts from solar and 5.2 gigawatts from wind. He praised the state's proactive role in India's renewable energy growth. The minister highlighted that the project has turned farmers into partners in India's energy journey, as the land used was leased from them, offering stable income. "Our farmers are no longer just food providers. They are now energy providers as well," he said. Joshi lauded CM Bhajan Lal Sharma for accelerating policy and investment reforms. Rajasthan has adopted the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 and operationalised the Rajasthan Green Hydrogen Policy. Investment commitments worth over ₹6.57 lakh crore were signed last year with a major focus on renewable energy and green hydrogen. Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana , over 49,000 rooftop installations were completed in Rajasthan, with over ₹325 crore in subsidies disbursed. Joshi urged faster implementation, given the 2.7 lakh applications already received.

"Has Rahul Gandhi Forgotten...": Minister's Jab Over Bihar Roll Revision
New Delhi: Union minister Pralhad Joshi hit back at the Congress today over the electoral roll revision in Bihar, saying the process of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) was started at the behest of Rahul Gandhi, who had written a letter about the discrepancies in the voter list. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Mr Joshi said, SIR has "happened many times before this and its process is the same as before". "If there is any difference in the process at all, it is that of technology," he added. "The Election Commission is doing it and those who are asking why the Election Commission is doing it -- has Rahul Gandhi forgotten that he himself wrote a letter saying there are mistakes in the voter list and they should be corrected? And now, when the Election Commission is correcting it, he is saying our voters will be stolen," Mr Joshi said. "If work is done on his letter there is a problem. If it is not done, then there is a problem... these are the people who will oppose whatever you do," he added. With six days to go for the final list, more than 41 lakh voters are risk of exclusion -- up from 35.6 lakh earlier this week - and the opposition parties in Bihar have been on the warpath over this, saying their supporters are being selectively left out. On Saturday, Rashtriya Janata Dal's Tejashwi Yadav - an ally of the Congress -- wrote to leaders of 35 major parties across the country seeking their support. "The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar is a spectacle and a tragedy, disenfranchising large numbers of voters and shaking the very foundation of democracy... This is a clear indication of how an 'independent institution' like the Election Commission is bent on eroding public confidence in the integrity of our electoral process," he wrote. The matter is expected to have ripples in the monsoon session of parliament which begins tomorrow.

Nearly 70% of Rajasthan's power capacity comes from renewable energy: Pralhad Joshi
New Delhi: Almost 70 per cent of Rajasthan's power capacity is now sourced from renewable energy, with over 35.4 gigawatts installed, 29.5 gigawatts from solar and 5.2 gigawatts from wind, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi . The state is now a beacon of hope, energy independence, and self-reliance, said the minister while inaugurating the 435 megawatt Gorbea Solar Power Project , developed by Zelestra India, in Rajasthan. He described the Gorbea project as a shining example of what is possible through visionary leadership and honest intent. "With every megawatt we generate, we are not just producing power, we are building a New India," he remarked, adding that the project reflects the speed and scale of change. The Gorbea Solar Power Project, delivered in under eight months, spans 1,250 acres and is backed by a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India. It will generate 755 gigawatt hours of clean electricity annually, powering approximately 1.28 lakh homes and reducing nearly 7.05 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The minister highlighted that the project has turned farmers into partners in India's energy journey, as the land used has been leased from them, offering stable income. "Our farmers are no longer just food providers. They are now energy providers as well," he said. During construction, over 700 local workers were employed, contributing to livelihood generation and skill development. Joshi also noted that the entire evacuation infrastructure, including the on-site substation and a 6.5 kilometre transmission line, was completed in just five months. The project uses advanced solar panels (TOPCon bifacial mono PERC modules) and over 1300 robotic cleaning units to maintain peak performance. Joshi called this a world-class facility and urged broader adoption of such technologies. Referring to his visit to IIT Bombay, the Minister spoke about ongoing work on Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells and encouraged Zelestra and Rajasthan officials to explore pilot projects using this next-generation solar technology. He said such innovations could significantly boost energy yields in high-irradiance states like Rajasthan. Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana , over 49,000 rooftop installations have been completed in Rajasthan, with more than Rs 325 crore in subsidies disbursed. He urged faster implementation, given the 2.7 lakh applications already received. Under PM-KUSUM, nearly 1.45 lakh solar pumps have been installed. The minister said that India has already achieved its target of 50 percent installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, five years ahead of the 2030 deadline. -IANS na/
