Lee Jung-jae in "Squid Game" Season 3.
Netflix's Squid Game Season 3 has critics cheering but most fans feeling the opposite, at least according to Rotten Tomatoes.

The official summary for Squid Game Season 3 reads, 'The third and final season of Squid Game follows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game. Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players' choices will lead to graver consequences with each round.
'The world eagerly awaits to see the grand finale written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who has vowed to bring the epic story to its deserved closure. Can we hope for humanity in the cruelest of realities? Fans all over the world are counting the days until the final answer is revealed.'
Squid Game Season 3, which consists of six episodes, also stars Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yuri, Lee David, Roh Jae-won.

RT's Critics Consensus and audience summary for Squid Game Season 3 is still pending.
What Are Individual Critics Saying About 'Squid Game' Season 3?
Clint Worthington of RogerEbert.com is among the top critics on Rotten Tomatoes who gives Squid Game Season 3 a 'fresh' review, writing in his review summary, 'It's tough to say what new lessons we've learned from Squid Games 2 and 3 that 1 didn't already hammer home with blunt force. But the ride was altogether unforgettable, even if just through the thud of thematic repetition.'
Nick Schager of The Daily Beast also gives Squid Game Season 3 a 'fresh' rating on RT, writing, 'As taut, startling, and unhinged as ever. Moreover, it mercifully avoids falling victim to its preceding episodes' shortcomings on the way to its do-or-die finish.'
Also high on the third season of Squid Game is Judy Berman of TIME Magazine, who writes on RT, 'Despite all the indignities to which it's been subjected, the show closes with its most unsparing season yet, an indictment of societies where money trumps humanity that roots out all forms of complicity -- especially our own.'
Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter is the only top critic on RT who gives Squid Game Season 3 a 'rotten' rating so far, writing in her review summary, 'It brings me no pleasure to report that the third and thankfully last of Squid Game seasons only confirms that we, like Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), should've left that cursed island behind for good after his first victory.'
All six episodes of Squid Game Season 3 are now on Netflix.

New on Netflix in July 2025 — every movie and show coming this month
Netflix has announced everything coming to the streaming service in July 2025, and there are some heavy hitters. It wasn't too hard to find five must-watch shows and movies that you need to add to your watchlist. First up is "The Old Guard 2." This superhero movie is the sequel to 2020's "The Old Guard," which we ranked number 78 on our list of the top 100 superhero movies. Starring Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman, it's undoubtedly the top title this month. Then there's "The Sandman" season 2, which is arriving in three waves this month for a bittersweet series finale. If you watched the first season of the DC Comics adaptation in 2022, you'll know that this show isn't one to miss. Aside from these top picks, I've got the full slate of everything new to Netflix this month listed below. Plus, we have a roundup of what's leaving Netflix in July 2025, so you have one last chance to watch. Here's everything coming to — and leaving — Netflix this month. "The Old Guard 2" has Charlize Theron reprising as Andromache of Scythia (known to her friends as Andy). She's the leader of a group of immortal soldiers who are mercenaries for hire. But immortality gives you a lot of time to make enemies, and Andy has made a powerful one in Quyhn (Ngô Thanh Vân) — a fellow immortal whom Andy left to drown for eternity 500 years early. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Quyhn has finally escaped her watery prison, though, and she's looking for payback. She's not the only one targeting Andy and her soldiers, either. Discord (Uma Thurman) is hunting her down and she's the first of the immortals, so there's no tougher foe out there. Stream on Netflix starting July 2 "The Sandman" was a favorite of a few of us here at Tom's Guide (myself included) when it came out in 2022. So when it was renewed relatively quickly later that year, I was excited for more. Since that announcement, though, Netflix has also decided to cancel the show, making season 2 its final season. This was in no small part due to the allegations of sexual assault against Neil Gaiman, who created "The Sandman" and was an executive producer on the Netflix series. Despite this bittersweet ending, it does look like Netflix spared no expense for Lord Morpheus's (Tom Sturridge) last hurrah, and the trailer brings back some familiar faces. I'm personally most excited for the return of The Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), who was the main villain of season 1. Volume 1 drops six episodes on July 3, with Volume 2 dropping the final five episodes of season 2's main storyline on July 24. A series finale special episode will arrive on July 31, bringing the show to a close. Stream Volume 1 on Netflix starting July 3 "Too Much" stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, who leaves New York for London after a bad breakup. There, she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), an indie musician who is not the Hugh Grant type she was hoping to meet, but he might just be the right person for her right now. This show was one of my most anticipated Netflix shows of 2025 when the year started, and it still is. Stalter has been great in "Hacks," I've loved Sharpe in "The White Lotus" season 2 and "A Real Pain and while show creator Lena Dunham isn't always everyone's favorite, there's no denying that she's created brilliant TV before. Stream on Netflix starting July 10 "Happy Gilmore" is likely on Adam Sandler's Mount Rushmore of greatest performances. The ice hockey player turned professional golfer was iconic in the 90s and it still is today. At least, that seems to be what Netflix is counting on, as "Happy Gilmore 2" looks like more of the same as the first movie based on the official trailer. This sequel is set 30 years after winning the Tour Championship in the first movie, and has a retired Happy needing to return to golf to pay for his daughter Vienna's (Sunny Sandler) ballet school. But a familiar face in Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) is standing in Happy's way, and is on a quest to take back his title. Stream on Netflix starting July 25 "Untamed" is a new Netflix miniseries created by Mark L. Smith, who most recently was part of the team behind "American Primeval," a miniseries from Peter Berg that debuted on Netflix earlier this year. So it's safe to say that the creative team behind this new thriller set in Yellowstone National Park has some familiarity with the expanse of the wild American West. In this murder mystery, a woman's death in the national park has federal agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) looking for answers. To find them, he will need to go into the depths of the park, where the only laws that rule are the laws of nature. Stream on Netflix starting July 17 JULY 1 "Attack on London: Hunting The 7/7 Bombers" (GB) (Netflix documentary) Insider accounts and never-seen-before footage tell the story of the 7/7 bombings on London's transport network in 2005 — and its explosive aftermath. Fans bid teary farewell to four giant pandas at a zoo in Japan before their return to China
SHIRAHAMA, Japan (AP) — Thousands of fans bid a teary farewell Friday to a family of four giant pandas at a zoo in Japan's coastal town of Shirahama as the animals made their last public appearance before their return to China. Around 3,000 visitors flocked to the Adventure World theme park to get a last glimpse of the beloved animals. Many rushed straight to the panda exhibit zone, calling out the names of their favorites. Although the 24-year-old mother Rauhin and her three daughters — Yuihin, Saihin and Fuhin — were all born and raised at the park, they remain on loan from China and must now be returned. Once they return to China, Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo will be the only pandas left in Japan. More than 1,000 people, many wearing panda-themed attire, queued outside the entrance of the theme park hours before it opened while some camped outside the night before. Some people wiped off tears while viewing throwback images of the pandas when they were cubs. Yoshihiko Fukuzumi recalls the arrival of the first two pandas at the park 30 years ago and has watch their family grow. Since retiring three years ago, he and his wife have visited them nearly everyweek. 'To us, they are like our grandchildren." Giant pandas are native to southwestern China and serve as an unofficial national mascot. Beijing lends them to other countries as a sign of goodwill but maintains ownership over them and any cubs they produce. Born in 2000, Rauhin had seven other cubs with Eimei, a male panda sent from China in 1994. Eimei returned home two years ago and has since died. Despite strained political ties between Japan and China, giant pandas are hugely popular in Japan. 'We feel comforted just by looking at pandas,' said zoo director Koji Imazu. Imazu said the departure of the four pandas marks the end of the zoo's 30-year joint project with China. He thanked Chinese specialists for sharing their expertise with the Japanese staff and said the zoo will be ready for a new arrival at any time. 'Of course we all miss them, but I hope you could send them off with a cheerful wave and wish them well in China,' Imazu said. In Beijing, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said giant pandas are 'friendly ambassadors" conveying the goodwill of the Chinese people. Guo said that China and Japan have collaborated on panda conservation and research since 2000, and that China is ready to further strengthen international cooperation, including with Japan. Rauhin and her daughters will be flown to China on Saturday where they will join other pandas at a facility in Sichuan province near their original habitat. There, the three young ones will find partners. 'I still can't believe they're all leaving,' said Junko Ikeda, a Fuhin fan from neighboring Nara prefecture who spent Thursday night in her camper van for the send-off. "I hope she finds a partner, becomes a mother and lives a happy life.'
