Our youngest child gets story time most nights before being tucked into bed. Pyjamas on, tucked under the covers and with just the bedside lamp on, she listens intently to either her mother or myself reading her a book.
A few nights ago, it was The Three Little Pigs. She's heard this story a hundred times at this stage, but on this night, I could see the cogs turning as she tilted her head sideways while I read. When the story ended, she was almost asleep, but had (as usual) one comment to make.

Cornerback Caelen Carson joins Cowboys' growing injury list with hyperextended knee

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — The injuries are mounting at training camp for the Dallas Cowboys, with cornerback Caelen Carson the latest expected to miss multiple weeks after injuring a knee. The team reported on its website Tuesday that Carson hyperextended a knee in practice Monday and could miss four to six weeks. There's a similar time frame for left tackle Tyler Guyton, who went down with a knee fracture in the same practice in California. Offensive lineman Rob Jones broke a bone in his neck in the first padded practice of camp over the weekend and is expected to be out two to three months. Carson and Guyton are second-year players with strong chances to start. Carson would be filling in for Trevon Diggs, who isn't expected to be ready for the Sept. 4 opener at Philadelphia in what has been a long recovery from knee surgery. Last year, Carson surged into a starting role as a rookie fifth-round draft pick when DaRon Bland was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot late in the preseason and ended up missing the first 10 games. Carson also was limited by injuries, including a season-ending shoulder issue, and played in just six games all season after starting the first three. Diggs and Josh Butler, who tore an ACL late last season, are on the physically unable to perform list. Dallas added depth at cornerback for camp by signing Christian Matthew, a seventh-round pick by Arizona three years ago. ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press

Trump Administration Allegedly Possesses Jeffrey Epstein Jail Footage Without 'Missing Minute': Report

A new CBS News report alleges that the DOJ and FBI have copies of the scrutinized security footage from just before Epstein's death without the midnight time jumpNEED TO KNOW A new report claims that the federal government has a copy of Jeffrey Epstein's jail surveillance footage without the "missing minute" The DOJ and FBI recently released around 11 hours of footage from New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center on the night before Epstein died, attempting to prove that no one entered his cell However, a time jump in the footage just before midnight has led to even more questions about the alleged predator's final hoursA new report claims that high-ranking officials in President Donald Trump's administration have copies of the footage from outside Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell on the night he died without the "missing minute." Earlier this month, the Department of Justice and the FBI released around 11 hours of footage from the security camera in New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center, in an attempt to assuage public calls for transparency about the late billionaire and alleged predator. However, the footage immediately sparked new conspiracy theories, as viewers noticed that, at 11:58 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2019, the footage jumped forward one minute, to midnight. As the video was meant to show that no one entered or exited Epstein's cell on the night before he was found dead — thereby proving that he died by suicide — the gap in the tape made many wonder if the footage had been doctored to hide evidence. CBS News cites "a government source familiar with the investigation" in its new report that claims the FBI, the DOJ and the Bureau of Prisons all have a copy of the video that doesn't skip forward a minute. However, CBS' source did not provide information on what may be on the missing footage. Earlier this month, Attorney General Pam Bondi was asked about the missing minute, and she claimed it was a technical glitch. "What we learned from the Bureau of Prisons is every night they redo that video," she told reporters on July 8. "So, every night the video is reset, and every night should have the same minute missing." Surveillance and forensic video experts told CBS News that a daily reset, such as Bondi described, "would have been unusual and was not something they encountered in most video systems." When they released the footage, the DOJ and FBI claimed it was the "full raw" security video, however, forensic video expert Jim Stafford analyzed the released footage for CBS News and concluded that it was "likely a screen capture, not an actual export" of the security file. Additionally, the metadata on the video showed that the file was created on May 23 of this year and was actually two separate videos stitched together. While Trump has repeatedly downplayed his own relationship with Epstein, he has been quick to point the finger toward others. When asked about Ghislaine Maxwell's meetings with the Justice Department last week, Trump told reporters that he wished they would stop talking about the Epstein case and start focusing on other issues — or at least other people who knew the convicted sex offender. "People should really focus on how well the country is doing, or they should focus on the fact that Barack Hussein Obama led a coup," he told reporters outside the White House on July 25, referencing unfounded treason allegations he recently lobbed at the former president. Trump also named former President Bill Clinton and former Harvard President Larry Summers, whom he claimed were "really close friends" of the late financier, but who have maintained that they were not aware of his crimes. "They don't talk about them. They talk about me," Trump griped. "I have nothing to do with the guy." Read the original article on People

Official: Abdoulaye Faye joins FC Lorient on loan

The young Senegalese defender arrives from Bayer Leverkusen to bolster the Merlus' central defense. Official: Abdoulaye Faye joins FC Lorient on loan Abdoulaye Faye has officially signed with FC Lorient this Tuesday, July 29 on a season-long loan for the 2025-2026 campaign. The young Bayer Leverkusen centre-back will compete in France's Ligue 1 with the Merlus, with no option to buy included in the deal. The Breton club confirmed this afternoon the loan acquisition of the 20-year-old Senegalese defender. Signed by Bayer Leverkusen this summer, Faye wasn't integrated into the first team of the Bundesliga runners-up, who opted to loan him out so he could gain valuable playing time in Ligue 1. It's worth noting that the 1.91m Senegalese player isn't a stranger to Lorient. Trained at the Diambars academy, Abdoulaye Faye already had a trial with Lorient's reserve team back in 2023. That experience likely paved the way for his first-team arrival this time, after stints in the Swedish league with Häcken and then Örgryte. He joins his new teammates in Dinard for preseason training camp and will wear the number 25 shirt. 'FC Lorient is a renowned club in the French league that has seen many top players come through. This loan with the Merlus is a real opportunity for me to continue progressing in a top-five European league and within a quality squad. Being able to participate in the preseason camp with my new teammates is a great chance—it will help me integrate more quickly,' Faye said during his unveiling.
