It's not easy being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. If the Netflix docuseries America's Sweethearts proved anything, it's that the DC cheerleading squad have to live up to very high expectations.
In fact, recently, DCC Abby Summers went viral as she broke down her pom pom care routine, which is required of all cheerleading squad members.
DC fans were shocked that cheerleaders had to fluff up their own pom poms
On June 30, Summers posted a pom pom fluffing tutorial on her TikTok. She watched Love Island as she tied little knots on the straight strands of her pom pom. The knots basically curl up the strands, which gives the illusion of volume.
It's similar to how mini braids or hair knots can fluff up your hair or give it added volume.
"Tonight starts pom pom fluffing time," the cheerleader says in the video. "As I fluff, I'm going to catch up on the rest of my Love Island episode," she continued, while beginning to "tie knots" with the prop's straightened pieces.
'We just tie knots in them, like so,' she said. 'Just keep repeating this process, tying different directions, till it gets fluffy.'

Fans were shocked that the DC cheerleaders had to fluff their own pom poms. 'I had no idea this had to be done,' a fan wrote. To which Summers responded, 'Me too.'
Another tidbit which surprised fans is the number of pom poms each cheerleader receives per season. Abby shared that every cheerleaders gets just 'one pair of gameday poms per szn!'. This is startling as pom poms tend to get worn out after long routines and rehearsals.
"DCC is literally so embarrassing what do you mean you have to make your own pom poms and wash your own uniform that you don't even get to keep when you retire?!?!?!?! It's a multi billion dollar organisation," wrote one user.
Interestingly, Summers isn't the first NFL cheerleader to who shared her pom pom fluffing process. In 2023, Miami Dolphins cheerleader Bella Denton uploaded a TikTok video to show fans how long it takes to fluff them up.
"We fluff our own poms and fluffing one palm takes me like two-and-a-half hours," Denton said in the clip.

Throwback to when the late Shridevi teased 15 year old Janhvi Kapoor about her broken Hindi

Janhvi Kapoor is the eldest daughter of the late actress, Sridevi , and filmmaker Boney Kapoor . She made her acting debut with the 2018 Shashank Khaitan film 'Dhadak', alongside Ishaan Khatter. Since then she has starred in various movies, turning herself into a promising young talent in the Indian film industry . This 2012 throwback piece is from a time when Janhvi was only 15 and had been invited to a launch event of the People magazine issue featuring her, her mother Sridevi, and her younger sister Khushi on the cover. At the launch event, the media asked Janhvi to say a few words in Hindi. Since she wasn't very comfortable speaking Hindi, she struggled and fumbled a bit in her response, "Hindi mein? I don't... Ji, mujhe abhi pata nahi. Main abhi school mein padhai kar rahi hu aur…' she said. Shridevi took the mic from her hand and teased her daughter. She told the media not to address Janhvi in Hindi. The late actress joked that Janhvi would struggle and fumble and even hilariously imitated her daughter's broken Hindi, making everyone laugh. Janhvi joined in on the laughs and even apologized for not being able to speak Hindi. She has acted in movies like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Roohi, and Lust Stories, speaking Hindi fluently. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? I am her daughter, so zaahir hai ki main unki tarah hi dikhungi. But my mum holds such a strong space in people's hearts and had a very personal connection. I hope I can please her fans also in some way, in a bid to show gratitude for all the love she got. I hope I'm given an opportunity to create my own identity. I don't think anyone can be like her. What she had to offer to films and to people's lives was greater than what any artist could. " Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi Kapoor has multiple interesting movies lined up for her. They include Devara, which also stars Junior NTR, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, Ulaijh, and RC16.
