Naseeruddin Shah supports Diljit Dosanjh, amidst controversy related to Sardarji 3, says, ‘his father refused to go to Pakistan, when his brothers left'

Time of Indiaa day ago
As controversy continues to surround
Diljit Dosanjh
and the global release of his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, veteran actor
Naseeruddin Shah
has stepped forward in his support.
Earlier, Naseeruddin had posted a message on Facebook supporting Diljit, a post that he claims was taken down by the social media platform.
Now, in an opinion piece with The Indian Express, he has put forth some of his views and offered personal context as well, addressing the backlash.
'I feel no need to wear my love for anything, including the country, on my sleeve,' Naseeruddin wrote, asserting his right to speak his truth without performative patriotism. He went on to share details about his family's legacy and their enduring faith in India's future.
'I was born in India into the fifth generation of a Muslim family, my wife into an even older Hindu one and we hope our children can be a combination of the best of both. My father refused to go to Pakistan when his brothers left, he was certain India had a future for us just as I feel it does for my offspring. This is a dream that cannot be abandoned.' He also addressed the criticism he faced while supporting Diljit and the lack of support within the film industry.

'I wasn't expecting any — they all either have too much to lose or they disagree,' he wrote candidly. Despite the social media backlash, he remains firm in his stance.
In the Facebook post, Naseeruddin had written: 'What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it.
And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan' is 'GO TO KAILASA'.'
His comments supporting Diljit comes amidst the rising tensions in the
Indian Film Industry
regarding the participation of Pakistani actors. With the exception of India, Sardaar Ji 3, which stars Diljit and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, is being released worldwide. The producers of the movie, Diljit among them, made the decision, which sparked discussion about the unofficial ban on Pakistani talent in the wake of the Pahalgam incident.
Concurrently, there was growing speculation that Diljit would be dropped from future projects, such as Border 2. After careful consideration, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has permitted T-Series producer Bhushan Kumar to finish the remaining filming with the actor, despite Bhushan's public declaration that he will not collaborate with Dosanjh on any upcoming projects.

India Jaan Chuka Hai: Yuzvendra Chahal Cryptically Confirms Relationship With RJ Mahvash Amid Claiming To Be Just Friends

Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been the talk of town recently, not for his bowling records or on field brilliance but for his dating life. Notably he separated with his wife Dhanashree Verma recently but has been the subject of dating rumors involving popular RJ and social media influencer RJ Mahvash. While both have repeatedly claimed to be "just friends," their frequent public appearances and undeniable chemistry have kept the gossip mill running. From Mahvash supporting Punjab Kings frequently in IPL 2025 to them posting different stories which caught people's eye. The speculation gained fresh momentum during a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Yuzvendra Chahal, Gautam Gambhir, Rishabh Pant and Abhishek Sharma appeared in the third episode of the third season of the entertainment show. When asked about the mystery woman in his life, Chahal cheekily replied, 'India jaan chuka hai,' leaving the audience amused. Teammate Rishabh Pant added to the fun by labeling him a 'free man,' further stoking the conversation. Playful Teasing on Kapil's Couch The light-hearted banter continued when Krushna Abhishek—dressed in drag—sat beside Chahal and affectionately dubbed him 'Juicy Chahal.' Chahal laughed and responded, 'Bahut juicy hai,' while Krushna nudged Kapil Sharma to consider things from a woman's point of view. Krushna didn't hold back as he teased Chahal about his online camaraderie with Mahvash, saying, 'Darrte kyu ho? Baaki Instagram par dekha hai, darrte toh nahi zyada,' referencing their visible and playful social media interactions. From IPL Stands to Advertisements: The Timeline of Rumors Rumors surrounding Chahal and Mahvash didn't surface out of nowhere. Observant fans have spotted Mahvash supporting the cricketer at IPL matches even those he missed due to injury. The two have been seen together at multiple events, private dinners, and even shared screen space in a recent advertisement, all of which contributed to the growing buzz. While Mahvash has denied any romantic involvement in past interviews, the frequency of their joint appearances has made it difficult for fans to ignore the signs particularly after the pair were spotted together during a Champions Trophy match in Dubai. Chahal's Divorce Finalized Just Before IPL 2025 Yuzvendra Chahal's divorce from Dhanashree Verma was officially granted by the Bandra family court on March 20, 2025, mere days before the start of IPL 2025. The couple had originally separated in 2022, and amid their professional obligations, they jointly requested the court to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period for reconciliation—a request that was approved. The first hints of trouble between Chahal and Dhanashree emerged through cryptic social media posts, which coincided with the earliest sightings of Mahvash with the leg-spinner. Since then, the narrative around Chahal's love life has evolved rapidly, with fans and media speculating whether this friendship with Mahvash is transitioning into something more

T-Series 'looks forward to collaborating' with Diljit Dosanjh after Border 2; they share 'strong' relationship: Report

Amidst the controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh's casting in Border 2, which follows the backlash he faced over Sardaar Ji 3, rumours emerged that T-Series had decided to sever ties with the actor for future projects. However, the production banner has quashed these speculations, putting the rumours to rest. Earlier this week, Diljit shut down the rumours of getting replaced in Border 2 by sharing a behind-the-scenes video of himself shooting for the film. T-Series sets record straight After Diljit shared a social media post from the Border 2 set, reports emerged suggesting that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had lifted its ban following a request by producer Bhushan Kumar. Although FWICE permitted the production of Border 2 to move forward, it stressed that its non-cooperation stance with Diljit would persist for upcoming projects. Some reports claimed Bhushan Kumar had assured FWICE that T-Series would part ways with Diljit after Border 2. According to Mumbai Mirror, a source close to the production company has since denied these allegations. 'These reports are completely baseless,' the source told Mumbai Mirror. 'T-Series has always shared a strong and respectful working relationship with Diljit and looks forward to collaborating with him on future projects,' the insider added. More about Diljit and Border 2 Earlier this week, Diljit shut down the rumours of getting replaced in Border 2 by sharing a behind-the-scenes video of himself shooting for the film. According to India Today, FWICE lifted the ban on Diljit for his upcoming film Border 2. The president of the association, BN Tiwari, shared that they took the decision after Bhushan Kumar reached out to them and pleaded personally. It comes after several calls to ban Diljit and his upcoming work after he worked with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The film opened overseas on June 27. It wasn't released in India. The row comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, followed by India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which air strikes were carried out on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
