House sites will be distributed to all beneficiaries in Gannavaram soon, says A.P. Energy Minister
Participating in the government's public outreach programme meant to highlight its achievements in the last one year, at Gannavaram on Monday, Mr. Ravi Kumar said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was striving to deliver every promise that was made ahead of the 2024 general elections, with due focus on both welfare and development.
He praised Gannavaram MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao for being accessible to the people and redressing their grievances. The Minister called upon the public to make the most of the schemes being implemented by the government, and enquired about the disbursement of pensions and other benefits like the financial assistance under 'Thalliki Vandhanam' and other schemes.
Later, Mr. Ravi Kumar and the MLA gave away cheques under the Chief Minister Relief Fund and Letters of Credit amounting to ₹23.92 lakh to 33 beneficiaries, and inaugurated cement concrete roads constructed at a cost of ₹45 lakh with MGNREGS funds.

Government keen on making agriculture profitable: AP energy minister Gottipati
GUNTUR: Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Thursday reiterated the State government's resolve to make agriculture profitable, during the inauguration of the Kisan Mela Mahotsav at Nadikudi Market Yard in Gurazala constituency of Palnadu district. The minister said his first official act after taking charge was to sanction 45,000 agricultural power connections, followed by another 25,000. 'Each connection costs the government Rs 2.4 lakh, and we are providing nine hours of free electricity for agriculture,' he stated. . He urged farmers to adopt modern methods and utilise available subsidies for farm equipment and mechanisation. He highlighted the government's support for the tobacco sector, noting that despite companies' reluctance to purchase black burley tobacco, the government allocated Rs 270 crore for its procurement. He also mentioned support prices extended to cocoa and mango farmers. MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, who also addressed the gathering, said the government aims to empower farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to tackle challenges. He assured farmers of the state's continued support.

Puducherry residents want strict enforcement of rules prohibiting meetings along main roads
Amid frequent traffic snarls due to political rallies or protests by one organisation or the other, residents want authorities to enforce rules that restrict meetings along main roads and throttling vehicular movement in the city. In the recent days, several places in the town have witnessed road blockages due to holding of political events. With political activity gathering steam ahead of 2026 Assembly elections in the Union Territory, residents believe that lack of administrative intervention at this juncture would lead to more such violations in the days to come. Residents say most political parties are breaking the tradition of holding meetings in designated areas such as in an open ground or a convention hall. The political parties, supporters of leaders and organisations are conveniently organising meetings on main roads after blocking a stretch, unmindful of the difficulties that may arise to road users. Recently, the Airport Road was witness to two major events, one as part of the birthday celebrations of a Youth Congress leader and the other relating to the induction of a former Congressman into the ruling All India N R Congress fold. While the birthday celebrations were held at Jeeva Colony junction on an evening, the induction ceremony was organised near Navalar High Secondary School in the morning hours. 'On the day when the birthday celebrations happened, I had to take a circuitous route to reach my home at Avvai Nagar. After I crossed Pakkamudayanpet and entered Lawspet Main Road, I was asked to take the ECR road and reach Latha Steel junction to reach my residence. Several students and office goers were put to undue hardship because of the road block,' Ravikumar, a resident said. The induction ceremony saw an even worse traffic hold-up as it happened during peak hours on a stretch that houses several schools and government colleges. As the main road was closed near the Navalar School junction, people had to travel through bylanes of residential areas to reach their destination. 'We don't know who gave permission to block a main road for holding a political event, that too during peak hours when hundreds of people travel on the stretch to reach educational institutions and offices. The road is not even closed for such a long time when a VIP arrives at the Airport. Even during VIP visit, a particular route will only be blocked for a few minutes for the movement of cavalcade. On Monday, the entire road was blocked for two hours for the political event,' he said. In both the political events, according to a shop owners on Airport Road, the top leaders of the parties were present when the traffic diversions and blockage happened on the stretch. According to another resident, the road in front of Cluny School has turned into an accident-prone stretch. 'Despite the road being narrow, the supporters of the leader were allowed to put party flags after digging holes on either side. A good part of the road is taken up for putting party flags. If this trend is allowed, political meetings will continue to be held on thoroughfares blocking movement of vehicles,' the resident said. As the Union Territory is heading towards another election, the administration should immediately stop political parties and organisations from organising events by causing disturbance to road users, residents demanded. ends

Minister inaugurates new Head post office in Razole
Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed Head post office building in Razole, aimed at providing enhanced services to Razole and the surrounding rural areas. Amalapuram MP Ganti Harish Madhur, was also present at the occasion. The newly constructed HPO building has been developed at a cost of ₹2 crore. The Union Minister also virtually inaugurated the Peddapuram post office building under Kakinada Division constructed at a cost of ₹1.78 crores. Addressing a public meeting at Mangena Gangayya Kalyana Mandapam, Mr Chandrasekhar said, 'India has two PMs — one is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the other is the 'postman' in every village who ensures services reach the last mile.' He emphasised the rapid modernisation within India Post including real-time SMS alerts on article bookings and delivery, robust article tracking systems, and improved technological infrastructure to compete with private service providers in the market. Over the past year alone, ₹5,000 crores has been invested in modernising post offices. Mobile phones, biometric devices, and thermal printers have been distributed to 1.4 lakh postmen, transforming each into a 'Mobile ATM', he said. He added that the India Post plays a significant role in Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) and added that of the ₹10,000 crore released under the 'Thalliki Vandhanam' scheme, ₹1,500 crore was distributed through post offices in Andhra Pradesh. He encouraged citizens to utilise postal savings and insurance services, which start with as little as ₹100, offering secure, trustworthy financial options for all. Mr. Chandrasekhar highlighted the 'Sukanya Samriddhi' scheme describing it as a vital initiative aimed at securing the future of the girl child through long-term financial savings. Mr Harish Madhur noted that post offices are no longer limited to just delivering letters — they are multifunctional service points.
