Trey Thompson comments on Iowa basketball commitment, reclassifying

In a massive recruiting win for Iowa basketball on Saturday, four-star forward Trey Thompson announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward out of Greeneville, Tenn., chose the Hawkeyes over offers from some powerhouse programs, including Tennessee, Purdue, Kansas, Clemson and Vanderbilt. Initially a 2026 recruit, Thompson announced he is reclassifying and will join the Hawkeyes this coming season. "To start, I want to take the time to thank God for always walking by my side and leading me down the right paths. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for always supporting me through my basketball endeavors. Extremely thankful for my parents for sacrificing so much for me to follow my dreams and passions. "With that being said, I have decided to re-classify up to the 2025 class and commit to the University of Iowa. Go Hawkeyes," Thompson wrote in his social media announcement. Thompson has averaged 21.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game on 56% shooting from the field, 45% from 3-point territory, and 81% from the free-throw line in his three varsity seasons from Greeneville High School, per his MaxPreps profile. 'Let's team up and run the SEC' 2026 5-star DL comments on Bryce Perry-Wright's commitment

Let's team up and run the SEC👀@tmanthatguy_ @jermainekinsle3 @Jordanbcarter22 @Brycepw5 On Saturday, Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class gained the No. 2-ranked defensive lineman in the cycle, as five-star Bryce Perry-Wright is headed to College Station, choosing the Aggies over Clemson and Texas. Combined with five-star cornerback Brandon Arington and five-star edge Tristian Givens, coach Mike Elko is still in contention for the No. 1-ranked 2026 class, but will likely finish second or third. On film, Wright is one of the more complete defensive recruits who is considered a five-star prospect due to his elite traits, high motor, and impressive high school production, while his measureables (6-2, 250 pounds) don't jump off the charts, making him a likely defensive end at the next level. The only reason Wright is considered the second-best defensive line prospect is because of five-star Lamar Brown, who will announce his commitment next Thursday. Just minutes after Wright's announcement, Brown took to X to express his excitement for the Aggies, who gained another elite defensive prospect over the last three weeks. Brown, a Louisiana native, will choose between Texas A&M and LSU next week, and while it's been reported that he is split regarding his decision, his recent quote tweet of Wright's commitment: As you can see above, Brown included Texas A&M defensive line commits Jordan Carter and Tristian Givens, who have since shut down their recruitment over the last month. Again, this does not confirm anything, as it is a well-known fact that Brown is very active on social media, but this is certainly something to monitor heading into next week. NFL's No. 1 pick praises Nebraska wide receiver commit Larry Miles

Nebraska continues to make moves in the offseason, landing multiple transfers and 12 commits in the 2026 class as of the second week of July. But one of its more recent commits already turned heads back in May when he received praise from the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Wide receiver Larry Miles got the opportunity to train with Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward back in May. Ward is entering his rookie year with high expectations following a record-breaking year with the Miami Hurricanes. Miles not only jumped at the opportunity to train with Ward, but he also made an impression on him. The four-star wide receiver earned praise from the quarterback, who even said, "I hope I play with you one day." Miles put together a strong junior year at Jones High School in Orlando, Florida, catching 68 passes for 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns. But to receive high praise from an NFL quarterback, let alone the number one overall pick in the NFL draft, while still in high school, does add to the excitement of what's to come from the future Husker.
