Nintendo Stock (NTDOF) Receives a Bullish Price Target Following the Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo (NTDOF) stock got a boost on Monday after an analyst updated their coverage of the video game company's shares. Five-star Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal reiterated a Buy rating and increased his price target for NTDOF stock to $139.58 from $107.55, suggesting a 64.23% upside for the shares.

Goyal's updated coverage of Nintendo stock comes after the launch of the Switch 2 late last week. This is Nintendo's newest video game console and the successor to the original Switch. Hopes are high for the Switch 2, as the Switch was a massive success with 152.12 million units sold.
The launch weekend for the Switch 2 appeared to go over well, with preorders largely sold out. However, there were reports of stores having plenty of Switch 2 units on hand. This has raised concerns that demand for the Switch 2 wasn't as high as expected, but it could also be a sign that Nintendo accurately anticipated demand and supplied enough units to avoid shortages.
Microsoft Enters the Handheld Console Market
In related news, Microsoft (MSFT) plans to challenge Nintendo in the handheld gaming sector. The company announced two new handheld consoles: the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. These are set for release in Holiday 2025, but no prices have been announced.
Microsoft's challenge to Nintendo is an uphill battle as Xbox doesn't have a firm grip on the handheld gaming market. It's avoided the space for years, never dedicating the resources needed to carve out a space in it. This newest move changes that, but it might be too late to try and usurp Nintendo's reign.
Is Nintendo Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for Nintendo is Moderate Buy, based on eight Buy, two Hold, and a single Sell rating over the past three months. With that comes an average NTDOF stock price target of $92.07, representing a potential 10.65% upside for the shares.

The Stunning List Of Cancelled Xbox Projects, From ‘Perfect Dark' To ‘Everwild'

Perfect Dark While it was known before this that Xbox layoffs were coming this week, what wasn't known was their scope. It's not just that jobs that have been cut, but a number of high-profile projects, and others that might have been great if they were not killed early on like this. These news stories have been coming so fast that it's hard to keep track of everything that's been cut, so here's a list of the disastrous dissection of projects that have accompanying layoffs. Significant ones, in many cases. This is a running list, as more news may drop at any moment. Perfect Dark – The long-gestating shooter had reported troubled development despite Microsoft assembling a 'AAAA' studio, The Initiative, specifically to make it, eventually also bringing in Tomb Raider's Crystal Dynamics to help. That did not help, and what once was one of the most promising-sounding, large-scale games (alongside Fable) is now completely dead, and The Initiative itself has been closed down, resulting in significant job losses. On top of that, rumors are circling back around that the recent, flashy trailer Microsoft showed off for the game after years of silence may have been more or less faked and not actual gameplay. Everwild Everwild – Rare, the storied developer, was given a chance to develop a brand new IP, and now that chance has been erased, despite just months ago, Xbox exec Phil Spencer was singing its praises and talking about the time it needed: 'It's nice to see the team with Everwild and the progress that they're making,' Spencer said. 'It has been [a while] FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia LadderRomero Shooters – An unnamed shooter from Romero Games, of the legendary John Romero, has announced it has lost the funding it was getting from Xbox, and the game may never see the light of day. In addition to that, funding was lost for 'several other unannounced projects.' The developer is unequivocal about how devasting this all is. It's reported that other Bethesda-based projects have been scrapped, but there are few details there. ZeniMax MMORPG – This was supposed to be a new MMORPG from the team behind the long-running Elder Scrolls Online, codenamed Blackbird, which has been worked on for years. Warcraft Rumble – Layoffs with this Blizzard team mean that support for the Warcraft-themed mobile game will no longer produce new content, even if it continues to exist. Halo Infinite The Deep Cuts – The rest of these are a high-level series of layoffs that may not have specific projects announced as cut, but it's a wide range of developers. Team 10 has been gutted to the point where it seems questionable if there will be future Forza Motorsport games, only Horizon. Cuts hit Call of Duty studios Sledgehammer and Raven. King, Microsoft's purchase mobile giant, will cut 200 jobs. Specific social teams at Blizzard have been cut, with many roles now outsourced. Halo Studios lost some employees as the future of Microsoft's biggest IP remains in flux years after its last underwhelming release. And all of this is after more layoffs and shutdown 18 months ago which closed Arkan Austin, Alpha Dog Games and the developer of Xbox's best game in a while, Hi-Fi Rush's Tango Gameworks, which had to be saved by another company. All this, as Phil Spencer pointed out in his layoff note, for some reason, comes at a profitable time for Xbox which says its expansion strategy is going well. Well, isn't that nice to hear. Asif Islam / The new directive is part of the company's push to address lagging internal adoption of its Copilot services. By conducting an AI usage evaluation, Microsoft aims to increase the adoption of AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency. 2 Stocks to Buy for the ‘Summer of $4 Trillion'

Wall Street's most expensive horse race is entering its final stretch. Nvidia (NVDA) trades at $3.74 trillion and Microsoft (MSFT) trades at $3.66 trillion. Wedbush's Dan Ives believes the duo will sprint past $4 trillion in market value before summer ends. Driving these mammoth market caps, Ives argues that every dollar spent on Nvidia's chips leads to $8 to $10 multiplication across the rest of the tech sector. Both companies are already posting blockbuster financials, and each has a near-monopolistic position in their respective AI niches. Thus, it's worth taking a deeper look at Nvidia and Microsoft here. Dan Ives is highly bullish on NVDA stock and calls Nvidia the 'foundation for the AI revolution,' adding that CEO Jensen Huang is the 'Godfather of AI.' His rationale is that cloud service providers will increasingly acquire more AI-capable chips to build out their services. Nvidia is often the first, and sometimes the only, supplier these companies purchase from. It has been able to position itself as a premier supplier of both AI hardware and the required software for data centers. Ives believes the use cases of AI are 'exploding' across many verticals. There is good substance to Ives' claim that NVDA stock may indeed break through $4 trillion this summer. The stock broke through the $150 resistance level on June 25 and hit a new all-time high above $158 on June 27. It has been building on that momentum since. With $150 no longer a ceiling, its next resistance levels are in the low-$160 range, and some analysts have targets as high as $250 on shares. There have been no indications that Nvidia's domestic customers are slowing down orders, and Blackwell remains fully booked for the year. The average analyst is also optimistic on NVDA, with a price target of $176.62. This implies 14% upside, or a market capitalization of roughly $4.3 trillion. Although Microsoft has temporarily lost its spot as the No. 1 most valuable company in the world, it may soon be able to close that gap as its AI momentum has been accelerating, and so has the stock. MSFT stock currently trades near $491. It is likely to meet some resistance near $500, but breaking through that level could unlock enough upside to get past Nvidia again. It is spending $80 billion on AI-related capital expenses in 2025 to add to its momentum. Dan Ives has set a price target of $600 on MSFT, up from $515 previously. On CNBC, he was asked, '$600 doesn't feel too lofty?... How much has to go right for that to happen?' Ives replied and said, 'I think $600 is probably conservative, I'm thinking about the next 18 months.' He believes we are going into the software phase of AI and that CEO Satya Nadella is 'playing chess' while the rest are playing checkers. Most analysts are still in the 'conservative' camp, but price targets go up to $626. The highest price target here implies around 27% upside, and a market cap of $4.65 trillion.
