NASCAR bold predictions: Connor Zilisch to win race in rookie Cup season?
This Sunday the season kicks off with the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (8 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app), with the Daytona 500 to follow just two weeks later (Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX).
With that in mind, Kevin Harvick, Kaitlyn Vincie and FOX Sports Motorsports Insider Bob Pockrass each provided a prediction for the 2025 season on the latest edition of "Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour."
Kevin Harvick: Kyle Larson-Christopher Bell rivalry will intensify
What Harvick said: "I think the Larson-Bell rivalry is something that we all hope for but has a lot more opportunity to be in more places than just NASCAR. The Chili Bowl already had that, the micros and everything that they raced already has a little bit of that spice that I think is the ability to be able to see that on a racetrack. We've seen it in the past a little bit, but I think that that rivalry spices up because we see it in more places than just on the NASCAR track."
Background: On Jan. 4, Bell edged out Larson by one-tenth of a second in the Tulsa Shootout, a micro-sprint racing event. This isn't the first time that Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, dabbled in other forms of racing, as he finished 18th in the 2024 Indianapolis 500 — and then hours later attempted to also race in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which Bell ironically won in a rain-shortened race.
Both Larson and Bell had competitive 2024 campaigns, with the former winning six races and posting 15 top-five finishes and the latter winning three races and posting 15 top-five finishes. That said, they each came up just short of a championship, as Joey Logano stunned the field in the NASCAR playoff to win his third championship.
Kaitlyn Vincie: Shane van Gisbergen will win multiple Cup Series races
What Vincie said: "I just feel like there's a lot of momentum around this team. I like the energy. I like his attitude. He told you he's not even setting goals for the year. I kind of like how he approaches the season. We know he's going to be really good on road courses. He's already won on one, of course, [at] Chicago, which's we're going back to. We have six of those [road courses] on the schedule. I think, wouldn't it be neat if he won at Mexico?"
Background: Van Gisbergen emerged on the NASCAR scene in 2023, starting two races and winning his first, that being the Chicago Street Race. Last season, he appeared in 12 Cup Series races, posting two top-10 finishes. Van Gisbergen primarily spent the 2024 season in the Xfinity Series, winning three races, posting seven top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes.
The 35-year-old van Gisbergen, who was previously a three-time Supercars Championship winner in Australia, is part of Team Trackhouse.
Bob Pockrass: Connor Zilisch will end up in victory lane
What Pockrass said: "The way he won Watkins Glen in his first Xfinity race [impressed me], and I know it's a huge jump from Xfinity to Cup … [but] he's really good on road courses. I'm not going to say he's going to go out and win COTA his first one, but I think that he will win a Cup race."
Background: Zilisch will make his Cup Series debut in the No. 87 for Trackhouse at COTA. He will race full-time in the Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports.
The 18-year-old Zilisch started six races in the 2024 Truck Series season and four races in the Xfinity Series. Most notably, Zilisch won his first Xfinity race, which was at Watkins Glen International, and had three top-five finishes.

Denny Hamlin triumphs in double overtime at Dover
Denny Hamlin held off the field in two overtime restarts to win Sunday's rain-delayed Cup race at Dover Motor Speedway. It is Hamlin's series-high fourth win of the season and 58th of his career. This also was the second year in a row Hamlin has won at Dover. Hamlin seemed on the way to the victory before rain stopped the race 14 laps from the scheduled end at the 1-mile concrete track. That delayed the race 56 minutes. 'It was tough,' Hamlin told TNT. 'Those guys gave me a run for it, no doubt about it.' Hamlin led 67 of 407 laps. Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe finished second. Alex Bowman placed third, Kyle Larson was fourth and Ty Gibbs completed the top five. Chase Elliott, who led a race-high 238 laps, finished sixth. The top six were either from Joe Gibbs Racing or Hendrick Motorsports. Bubba Wallace, who entered holding the final playoff spot, finished seventh. Gibbs finished ahead of Tyler Reddick (12th) to advance to next week's $1 million final at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ty Dillon, the lowest seed in the 32-driver event, finished 20th and beat John Hunter Nemechek (21st) to advance to next week's final of the In-Season Challenge. Christopher Bell finished 18th Sunday after two spins, including one in overtime. On the first green-flag lap after the rain delay, Bell spun while racing Hamlin for the lead. Noah Gragson hit the wall and collected points leader William Byron. Byron finished 31st. Gragson placed 32nd. While racing side-by-side with Elliott for the lead off the restart at the beginning of the final stage, Bell spun in front of the field. No one hit him. 'Underbody's fine,' crew chief Adam Stevens told Bell. 'We're better than all of these jokers here, so we're going to have about 134 more when we get it. We can get back up in there into the top five, not a problem. Nice and smooth. Take a deep breath.' Bell caught a break in the final stage. With rain approaching, he stayed out during a green-flag cycle. The caution came out at Lap 337 for rain and Bell had yet to pit and was leading. Only seven cars were on the lead lap at the time of caution. Rain later stopped Bell. He was running second to Hamlin when rain came out and stopped the race after 386 laps. Denny Hamlin survives rain delay, overtime finish to win for 2nd straight year at Dover
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Denny Hamlin went back-to-back at Dover Motor Speedway, holding a late lead through a rain delay and an overtime finish Sunday for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's series-best fourth victory of the season. Hamlin won in the No. 11 Toyota for the second straight time at Dover to add to wins this season at Martinsville, Darlington and Michigan. Hamlin has 58 NASCAR Cup Series victories, leaving him, two short of Kevin Harvick for 10th on the career list. The 44-year-old Virginia driver might hit that mark this season as he chases his first career Cup championship. 'Winning here at Dover is super special to me,' Hamlin said. 'This is a place that I've not been very good at the first half of my career. To go back-to-back here the last two years is amazing.' Hamlin took the checkered flag days after he suffered a setback in court with his own 23XI Racing team's federal antitrust suit against NASCAR. On Thursday, a federal judge rejected a request from 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports to continue racing with charters while they battle NASCAR in court, meaning their six cars will race as open entries this weekend at Dover, next week at Indianapolis and perhaps longer than that in a move the teams say would put them at risk of going out of business. Hamlin vowed this weekend 'all will be exposed' if the case goes to its scheduled Dec. 1 trial date. The courtroom drama hasn't affected Hamlin's performance on the track. Hamlin held off JGR teammate Chase Briscoe for the victory. Hendrick Motorsports drivers took the next two spots, with Alex Bowman third and Kyle Larson fourth. Hamlin held off Kyle Larson down the stretch last season to earn the second of his three career wins at the Monster Mile. The first July Cup race at Dover since 1969 started with steamy weather and drivers battled the conditions inside the car during a relatively clean race until rain fell late and red-flagged the race with 14 laps left. Hamlin said the during the break he planned to change his firesuit — temperatures inside the car soared to 140 degrees. He also returned to the car after the 56-minute delay with old tires. Hamlin had enough to win at Dover and park the Toyota in victory lane. 'We've got a lot left,' Hamlin said. Christopher Bell spins from lead during NASCAR Dover race
This story was updated with new information. Christopher Bell spun in the final stage of the NASCAR Dover race. On Lap 260 of the July 20 Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400, Bell spun from the lead after winning the second stage of the race. Bell was scored in the lead when caution flew on Lap 337 for rain. Bell was running the middle line with Chase Elliott on the inside going into Turn 3. The two did not make contact but Bell spun through the corner. The entire field was able to avoid Bell, who drove through the pit lane. With no one hitting Bell, he is able to continue but had to pit for new tires. He was scored in 22nd place after the spin, the final car on the lead lap before Justin Haley was given the free pass. Chase Elliott won the first stage at Dover and continues to lead.
