The commitment of the Midrand Shotokan Karate (MSK) karatekas was on full display as they made an early journey to Mpumalanga on June 7 for the Mpumalanga Karate School of Champions' friendly memorial tournament.
The young karatekas excelled, with each securing a spot on the podium, bringing home four gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in both kata and kumite.
Speaking to MSK shihan Dalson Seanego, he praised the young karatekas for achieving a strong balance between kata and kumite. 'With the evolution of sport karate, many practitioners have shifted their focus to specialising in one category at the expense of the other.

Did Orlando Pirates overspend on Oswin Appollis

Orlando Pirates have wrapped up the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis. However, some fans aren't over the moon. 23-year-old Appollis has been linked with Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the media. Will he flourish at a bigger club? Polokwane improved on last season's eighth-placed finish with a seventh-placed finish this term, so it's not as if his teammates regressed. Appollis claimed six goals and three assists in the league last time out. New Pirates boss Ouaddou was once sacked for gross misconduct Michael Morton is excited about the direction in which Orlando Pirates are headed.
