CBS boasts most-watched golf season in 7 years as 2025 Wyndham Championship ratings soar
CBS Sports on Tuesday reported that 2025 was its most-watched golf season in seven years, averaging 2.969 million viewers for golf broadcasts, which is up 17 percent from 2024. It's the highest mark since 2018.
The company also reported that 2025 was the most-streamed golf season ever on Paramount+, which launched in 2021.
The Tour's regular-season finale, which was also the last event on CBS for the season, certainly helped contribute to that number, as an average of 1.95 million golf fans tuned in to watch Cameron Young cruise to his first PGA Tour victory at the 2025 Wyndham Championship on Sunday — a 36-percent increase in viewership from last year's Wyndham.
During that broadcast, CBS bid farewell to a staple of its golf commentary crew, Ian Baker-Finch, who retired after 19 years in the booth alongside the likes of Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo. The 1991 British Open Champion got emotional on air several times throughout the weekend as the heartfelt tributes poured in.
So as the 2025 golf season comes to a close for CBS, NBC and its affiliates will take the reins for the FedEx Cup Playoffs — the PGA Tour's three-week series of elimination events culminating with the Tour Championship at East Lake.
The first of those events, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, begins Thursday.

BetMGM Bonus Code WIREBG150: Grab $150 in Bonus Bets for NFL Preseason Openers & More
The games may not count in the standings, but this week's NFL preseason game definitely matter. Who is going to start at quarterback for the Browns? Are this year's first-round draft picks as good as their billing? Which online sportsbooks have the most intriguing welcome offers? We can answer the last one: The BetMGM bonus code WIREBG150 gives you $150 in bonus bets when you win your $10 first bet. If you're a new customer in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania or West Virginia, then you collect three $50 bonus bets (along with your first-bet profit) when your $10 first bet wins. If you're a new bettor playing in any other state where BetMGM operates, then you get to capitalize on the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE that guarantees you a protected first bet up to $1,500. There are no bigger (and more protected) sportsbook promos than this. If you think NFL exhibitions aren't important and have an effect on the regular season, just take a look at the Browns. There are five quarterbacks competing for the top job and although veteran Joe Flacco is presumed to be the Week 1 starter, that could surely change over the next few weeks. Monday, the team released its unofficial depth chart, which listed the five QBs in the following order: Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Cleveland opens its preseason schedule Friday night against the Panthers. BetMGM Bonus Code Promos: Get $150 in Bonus Bets or $1500 First-Bet Offer With MLB's trade deadline in the rearview mirror, it's pretty much time to start the sprint to the postseason. The Yankees made a series of what looked to be positive moves last week but enter tonight's game in Texas riding a four-game losing streak. New York, which spent the majority the first five months of the season in first place in the AL East, are now in third place in the division, 5.5 games behind the Blue Jays and 2.5 games behind the Red Sox. The Yankees and Mariners are tied for the second AL wild card spot, 1.5 games ahead of the Rangers. Everywhere you look, there are massive events happening later this week. In addition to NFL exhibition games starting Thursday, the PGA Tour's $100 million FedExCup playoffs begin Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. NASCAR is only a few weeks away from the start of the Cup Series playoffs, so tempers (and temperatures) will be high for Sunday's race at Watkins Glen. Here's how: If you're signed up for the $1,500 BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE, place your first bet on any of today's matchups (or any other set of odds), and if it settles as a loss, you'll get bonus bets back. For wagers of $50 and up, the refund comes as five equal bonus bets, while smaller wagers get a single matching credit. With the BetMGM bonus code WIREBG150, you can wager on any set of odds, and if it comes back as a win, you get your winnings plus three $50 bet credits. After signing up for your BetMGM bonus code offer, place your qualifying bet within seven days. You'll have a seven-day window from when bonus bets are deposited to use them or they will expire.
