PhilHealth to offer services ahead of OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Dubai
As part of the pre-caravan rollout from July 28 to 30, PhilHealth will set up at the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai, offering vital services including membership registration, record updates, claims processing, and issuance of PhilHealth IDs and Member Data Records (MDRs).
Pre-registration is required to access the services, but walk-in clients with flights the next day may also be accommodated, according to the MWO-Dubai.
The main Serbisyo Caravan, organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), is scheduled for August 3, 2025, at Exhibition Hall 8 of the Dubai World Trade Center.

'Due to distance and time constraints, OFWs are faced with challenges in accessing government services. The Caravan serves as a one-stop shop designed to re introduce participating agencies' various programs and services, deliver information sessions and offer support channels for OFWs and their families,' the MWO-Dubai said.

DMW speeds up medical repatriation of ailing OFWs in Qatar
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has pledged full support for ailing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Qatar and is expediting their medical repatriation. In a statement, the DMW said officials led by Undersecretary Jainal Rasul, Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi and Labor Attaché Eduard Ferrer visited four ailing OFWs confined at Rumailah Hospital in Doha. One of them, a female patient who suffered a severe stroke, has been hospitalized since May. Her sibling has already been repatriated, while arrangements for her own return are ongoing. The officials also met with hospital personnel and Alma Balanon, the Medical Repatriation Coordinator for Filipinos in Qatar, to discuss necessary arrangements for transferring the patients to the Philippines. Balanon emphasized the need for support in visa processing and hospital acceptance in the Philippines to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of medical care. She added that several more patients are under evaluation for possible repatriation The DMW said the medical repatriation program in Qatar, which began in 2015, has facilitated the return of 28 OFWs in 2024. Eleven cases have been recorded this year, including one currently being processed. A follow-up mission is scheduled for mid-August to monitor the reintegration of repatriated OFWs and ensure continued government assistance.

'Dubai chocolate' product linked to US salmonella outbreak not sold in UAE
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has clarified that a "Dubai chocolate" product linked to salmonella outbreak in the US is not sold in the UAE market. In a statement released on social media platform X, the ministry confirmed that 'Dubai Chocolate' products available in UAE markets are free from Salmonella. The clarification comes after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning over concerns of potential salmonella contamination from Emek 'Pistachio Cacao Cream with Kadayif Spread'. The UAE authority explained that the product - inspired by the "Dubai chocolate" flavours - is manufactured outside the UAE and is sold "exclusively... in the US markets".
