The letter stated, 'We don't encourage our daughters to walk around naked in it because it makes them prey for animals' and accused the youngster of being exploited by the industry.
Miley, who was 20 at the time, retaliated by posting Sinead's tweets about trying to find a mental health treatment facility while she was struggling with psychiatric issues.
The Flowers singer has now reflected on how she handled the criticism and regrets her reaction.

Speaking to the New York Times, she said: "I responded in a way that I would never [have] as an adult - but that was also an adult talking to a young person.
"That feels like her experience [was] being reflected onto me, but that's not my experience. My experience was not that the music industry didn't care about me."
In Sinead's letter, she wrote: 'The music business doesn't give a s*** about you, or any of us. They will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think it's what you wanted..."
