Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Hania Aamir, became the highest-grossing Indian film in Pakistan, earning Rs 3 crore on its 1st day, breaking Salman Khan's Sultan record.
Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 hasn't released in India yet given the ongoing controversy and backlash over Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's casting. However, the film is breaking records in Pakistan. It has become the highest-grossing Indian movie there, even though it stirred controversy for featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, something that goes against the ban on Pakistani artists in India.
According to reports, the film earned Rs 3 crore on its first day in Pakistan, making it the biggest opening ever for an Indian film in the country. It even beat the record set by Salman Khan's Sultan back in 2016. Despite facing backlash in India, Sardaar Ji 3 is doing really well at the box office in Pakistan. In fact, reports say that theatres across the country have been running houseful shows.
Sardaar Ji 3 has been banned in India in the wake of rising tensions with Pakistan, especially after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in April. While the film hasn't released in India, it has hit theatres internationally, including in Pakistan. Diljit, standing by his decision to release the film abroad, has been sharing videos and reactions from packed theatres in Pakistan.
Recently, Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram and re-posted a video, which comprised the public's reaction to Sardaar Ji 3 inside a theatre in Pakistan. Interestingly, the video posted by the singer-actor showed Hania on the screen. He shared another post, in which he is seen proudly flaunting the film's global box office figures.
Diljit has been facing boycott calls in his home country India.
Diljit Dosanjh recently broke his silence on the controversy and Hania Aamir's casting in the film that was done months before the Pahalgam attack in April. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, the singer said that the project was completed before any of the current political tensions surfaced.
'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi (When this film was made, everything was fine. We shot it in February, and at that time, the situation was normal. After that, a lot of big things happened that are not in our control. So the producers decided that since the film obviously can't release in India now, they'll release it overseas. The producers have invested a lot of money, and when the film was being made, there was no such issue)," he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. 'Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them," he shared.

Naseeruddin Shah Deletes Support Post For Diljit Dosanjh, Sparks Online Backlash

Mumbai: Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has come under the radar of netizens for deleting his Facebook post in which he defended and supported Diljit Dosanjh amid the 'Sardaar Ji 3' controversy. A section of users took to X to troll the veteran actor for deleting his post just a day after condemning the criticism directed at Dosanjh. One netizen shared the screenshot of Shah's now deleted post and wrote, 'So, Naseeruddin Shah has deleted his post. But he has deleted it only from the social media, not from his mind. He never supported Bharat, and he never will.' Another user trolled the actor, writing, 'Yaad aa gya hoga ki paisa kamane kahan jaayega.' 'Naseeruddin nai post delete kr gya,' wrote a user. One angry Twitterati said, 'Fattu. They only act up when they have the numbers!!' #NaseeruddinShah has been trending on the microblogging site, with several netizens taking digs at the veteran actor. On Monday, the 'Sarfarosh' actor penned a lengthy note where he made religious remarks against those criticizing Diljit Dosanjh's collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film 'Sardaar Ji 3'. Defending the actor, Shah stated that Diljit was not the one responsible for casting Hania Aamit in the movie. In his now deleted post, he wrote, 'I stand Firmly With Diljit. The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they've got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.' 'What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it. And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan' is Go To Kailasa.' Before this, Diljit Dosanjh received support from his 'Amar Singh Chamkila' director Imtiaz Ali, who praised the actor-singer for his authenticity, stating that Diljit is not someone who pretends or fakes things. While several celebrities have come forward in support of Diljit, a few, like television actress Rupali Ganguly, have expressed their disagreement and spoken out against him.
